Curling her legs beneath her, she clicked her tongue at him. "You know, they do understand some words, and considering everything, watching cats for a whole year was nothing." Shit. Shit. She did not just hint at her being Catwoman. Nope, not at all to a Gotham Police Officer at all. Hopefully she would be able to spin it as her really, really liking cats, with some personal anecdote about her childhood and cats and something.
Shit.
"Thank you." Taking the glass she held it up to the light as well. She'd depleted one bottle of his liquor when she had stayed over a few nights, to make sure the cats were ok. Which they were not, as they did miss their 'father' to speak. Selina had spent a few nights talking to Beau and Sprinkles, telling them that he didn't leave them, but was just working away from home for a while. She'd even brought over Jasper, who had taken to grooming the two smaller cats, and comforting them in that feline way.
And she'd drank a bottle, well, or two of his Scotch and promised to replace them. And she had. And she'd cleaned his house now and again, considering if he was going to be gone for a year, well...it would make sense for it to not go to ruin.
Wait. He was taking and she had zoned out. Blinking green eyes at him, she nodded. "Oh, no. I'm already a night owl. Was doing some catching up work for the PD. Gordon had me on a case for a second set of eyes. And I agree. We've been like passing ships on the sea." Raising her own glass to him as well, she waited until he was finally seated to sip her own. The familiar burn echoed from lips to her stomach.
How was she? She was a bit pissed at a certain someone, but that wasn't good chat for here and now.
"I'm doing good. Same ol', same ol'. Work, fixing people's stupid at work, consulting at the PD, which has been more than a bit of a mess without you there. I'd bring Gordon something strong with all the crap he's been dealing with in your absence. There was a fire, and I honestly think it was someone internal, that was being blackmailed."
Shaking her head, she shrugged. Her life was whatever. She wanted to hear what he had been doing. "Enough of me, though. Can you at least tell me how your trip went? Or is it more classified crap? Hopefully they had a beach there. Right? I know you've been working out." She raised her brows, then held her glass up, pointing to her own bicepts.
Shit.
