It's been about a week since Poison Ivy's escape from the asylum. Exactly how she managed that is still under investigation - about all that's clear about it is that Dr. Jeremiah Arkham disappeared that night and hasn't been heard from since. What exactly she's been up to since then is unknown - with the exception of the fact that she retrieved her car from the police impound lot where it's been held since her capture, killing everyone who tried to stop her with some sort of toxin. Whatever else she may be up to is a mystery.
With one slight exception: a text has found its way to Selina's phone:

It wasn't too long after putting away a few groceries and odds and ends that she's settling in at her desk with a cup of tea. Her computer is open as she sifts through mail, and glances at email, noting on her DVR there are several more news highlights capturing the escape of those from the Asylum.
On one hand, she's glad a few got out. On the other hand? Not so excited, because of work. Either way, she'll be glad to reconnect with a few that had escaped. So when her phone chimes at her she's received a text, she has to smile. Pam is out. Or Ivy, as she's been styling herself these days. The text is in green, which she has to admire. The woman does have style.
The text has been routed though the second line linked to her phone, but as Poison Ivy is discreet, so is Selina.

No matter how secure something is, Poison Ivy if of the option that it's better to be too paranoid about things than not paranoid enough - the former is simply wasted effort, while the latter could very well land her right back in the asylum. And she never wants to go back there again!

The return text is quick, and she has to quirk a brow at it. Someone else picking her up? Now that is fantastic. And it allows her to get her coffee beforehand.
Standing she goes to look at her wardrobe. She'll want something stylish, yet comfortable if they're going to be spending a day out shopping. Especially if Ivy's wardrobe is as out of date as she's claiming.

She can't recall off the top of her head whether or not she's driven Selina anywhere, but she's pretty sure that her friend has seen her car before. Because, well, you can't very well miss it. It was a 'welcome home from the hospital'/'congratulations on your doctorate' present from her parents several years back and she fell in love with it - though not enough to convince her to spare them.

As her phone signals she has another text, Selina glances away from her clothing to her phone again. Ah. Ivy is going to pick her up in her car. That will be nice for once. As much as she does enjoy a driver, for this sort of outing just the two of them is even better. There is much to catch up on, and it'd be better without a secondary set of ears to eavesdrop on them.
But as far as Ivy is aware, Selina is unaware of her vehicle's make and model. Then again, considering her own preference for two wheels, but her familiarity with four, Selina is actually quite aware of the sleek, petal-colored car. You really, truly can't miss it.So with her brows raised, she sends another quick text to her newly liberated friend.

If Poison Ivy had ever wanted someone to drive for her, she could easily get someone. But she's been ferociously independent since before the day she first got her license so that never appealed to her at all. What does one do while traveling by car if you're regularly not the one driving anyway? Then again, given the way she drives the task has never seemed tedious at all to her.
Not that there's anything 'scheduled' except for the general idea of maybe doing some more work in her lab that day, but it's not anything that couldn't be easily postponed. And as important as all the many things she's working on are, her wardrobe is also a rather high priority to her.
Especially since she became a bit more distinctive-looking a few days ago. All things considered, she doesn't view that as a very big sacrifice for what she gained from it - especially since she doesn't think that it detracts from her appearance at all - but for someone who prefers to stuff her closet full of rather minimal dresses she found it instantly difficult to find anything at all to wear that would help her blend in when she wishes to remain more anonymous. She'll have to be sure to pick up some things for the purpose while she shops with Selina.
Today she's wearing a long, white trench coat that while thin is still a bit much for the warm weather, though it's one of the best ways she has currently for keeping most of her skin covered with her current wardrobe. It flares out like a skirt, reaching her knees. The rest of her legs are covered by a pair of black leggings, save for her feet - those aren't covered at all by the pair of dark green, strappy stiletto sandals she's wearing, but that's also the part of her people aren't going to see while she's driving around, so that doesn't matter. A pair of black driving gloves cover her hands and a black on white patterned scarf both adds an extra statement to her outfit and hides her neck. A pair of large, movie-star style sunglasses hides much of her face, which is shadowed by her wide-brimmed sunhat. The lower part of her face is thus the only part of her exposed, but it's so shaded that a person would probably have to be trying to really notice.
Besides, far more people are looking at her car, not at her, as she turns down the road that goes past Selina's apartment building. When she draws near her eyes skim over the people on the sidewalk for Selina, ready to pull over wherever her friend happens to be.

She's up early enough, which is peculiar for her. So after a quick morning stretch, setting a few things aside for Charlotte for lunch, as well as school, with a note as to where she will be for the day, Selina is off to grab her coffee from the local coffee cart in the park. Her double espresso is ready for her before she even reaches the the owner, her payment handed over; with a generous tip of course. There is a certain benefit to being a regular at certain establishments.
It's a short jaunt to her spacious flat again and she's showered and attired for the weather. While it's a bit cool, shes picked a deep plum and grey patterned dress, knee high boots, and a lighter steel grey trenchcoat. A simple clutch purse is chosen before she steps out into the elevator, and subsequently down to the lobby. Sipping on her drink, she's keen to be aware of a rather richly hued vehicle. But as the driver pulls up, she has to idly wonder why Pam is so covered. The woman is fair-skinned and raven haired, but still...why so many clothes?
As the car comes to a stop a few feet from where she has paused outside her building, she smiles brightly and waves at Ivy, before waiting for the door to be unlocked, and her to slip in beside her friend.
"Ivy!" She exclaims once her seatbelt is on. "It's been much, much too long! How are you, doll?" Green eyes skim her from head to toe, without saying a word about just how much she's wearing.

The moment that Selina is securely in the vehicle, Poison Ivy pulls away from the curb and starts making her way back through the traffic. Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately) the traffic is a bit thick right here and now, and that forces her to drive a bit more conservatively than is her usual. Usually riding with her can be a bit of an experience, since her car is quite powerful and she knows exactly how to use it to its fullest potential and isn't shy about doing so. But that habit comes with the actual skill to do so, luckily for everyone on the road - she's never owned a vehicle that wasn't of such caliber and she's never been in a position to have to worry about being ticketed for reckless driving either because of her ability to pay or her ability to get out of it, so she's had a lot of practice doing whatever the hell she wants on the road and doing it well. With a few exceptions - right now she'd like to just plow right through this traffic snarl, but that's one of the few things outside of her car's capabilities...
Though at least it means that she doesn't have to be too distracted by other vehicles while she greets Selina, as there's no real point in keeping an eye on a car that isn't moving and is unlikely to move until that light up ahead turns green. Smirking at Selina's question, she turns toward her friend and momentarily removes her sunglasses, making what's changed about her go from mostly hidden to quite obvious - even her eyes, which have always been green, have become greener. "I've never been better, honestly," she says simply before replacing her sunglasses and turning her gaze back to the road ahead, "We have so much catching up to do! Especially now that we're able to speak freely. I made sure of that, by the way - apparently it occurred to people I might want my car back - I found more than one tracking device on it when I took it. Removed now, of course." Though her rolled eyes are hidden by her sunglasses, it's easy enough to tell by what's visible of her expressions that she does so.
"I've heard so many rumors about what you've been up to while I was locked up in that hell-hole that you simply must shed some light on - though I'd imagine you have more than a few questions of your own first..." she trails off with a teasing grin on her face, a vague reference to her rather drastic change in appearance.

For one thing, shes quite glad shes not wearing a hat. Ivy is mildly insane for thinking it's worth enough of a fashion statement to want to do it. Then again, she's sacrificed for fashion, so she can't say too much. She's about to sigh at the mess of traffic when Ivy turns to her and removes those nearly ghastly huge sunnies that have been all the rage. And she does not own a pair. So when she meets the other woman's eyes, she just raises a brow. To put it ..in a way, Ivy has had some sort of cosmetic changes. Things that were green, are not more vivid. And things that weren't green...are now green. Including her skin. All of it.
Considering who just exactly she is friends with, Selina only quirks a brow and smiles at the woman at her release from the Asylum, as well as how gleeful she is. "Fantastic. It's never fun to have to sit on time out when you don't want to be there. Just a tip, but next time hon, don't get caught!" She teases, before laughing with glee.
Mmm. And what things does she want to catch up with, with Ivy? What is there to divulge? Not a whole lot of 'fun' on her end has been occuring. more work, and legitimate work, than anything. "Well, if those rumors pertain to work, and I mean legitimate work, you'd be correct. I'm still partnered with Lex," yes, she's using his first name. "On the whole Metropham business. And yes, it's hard not to notice your change! It certainly fits your M.O. much, much better. Is there going to be a debut for your changes? And how did you do it?!" She's assuming, slightly, but then again, Ivy has the knowledge and capacities to go about such a change, considering her affinity for plants just about rivals Selina's with felines.

Though Poison Ivy has known of Selina's alternate identity for quite some time by now, since the entirety of that time up until now she was in the asylum there hasn't really been too much of an opportunity for that to factor into their friendship. Well, except perhaps in the sense that it's probably a part of the reason why Selina wasn't afraid to continue their friendship when the vast majority of her acquaintances felt otherwise. Not that it really bothered her much - she didn't really care about most of them anyway - but it's nice to have one, and not just because the woman gave her so many nice things that made her stay more comfortable.
But since there's surely going to be more... complications to their friendship than the mere fact that she's a criminal (and one that's been deemed insane at that), the fact that Selina is in the costumed crowd herself is a real bonus - it means that she doesn't have to worry that she'll end up doing something out of necessity that will ruin their friendship. Well, almost - though she's not had much opportunity to witness how Selina juggles things, she understands that the woman is more of a fence-sitter than a proper rogue, so that may turn up to be an issue. Then again, she's sure to have issues with any rogue no matter how 'hardcore' they are anyway. But at least she knows that she can turn green without worrying that Selina will react to it badly.
Selina's 'tip' causes Poison Ivy's lips to twist into a pouty frown and she grumbles, "I wasn't trying to get caught!" That's still a sore subject for her, and probably will be until she gets a chance to repay Nightwing for the lovely vacation from her work that he sent her on. Actually, a part of her is actually glad that he pointed out the weaknesses that she needed to eliminate if she wants to remain unincarcerated, but she's never going to thank him for that.
When Selina mentions Lex, Poison Ivy's lips purse slightly but she won't express her thoughts on him just yet - first she'll indulge Selina's questions, as that's liable to be a much shorter conversation. Though she's very quick to correct her friend's assumption about the change, "Oh, it wasn't at all intentional." And she's not sure whether she's more insulted that Selina's assumed that she might be the type of person to do such a ridiculous thing on purpose, or pleased that her friend was so quick to consider it to be a positive change. She has mixed feelings about it herself, though she's already resolved to get used to it.
"It's a side-effect of a project that I've been working on - not something I expected to happen, necessarily, but a mere cosmetic change is a small price to pay. I don't think that it diminishes from my appearance at all, actually - if anything I think it simply makes me look that much more exotic," she explains as she proceeds forward with the rest of the traffic, which has finally started moving a little, her lips shifting into a self-satisfied grin at the end. So, though the change wasn't intentional, it's not something that bothers her much at all.
Well, except for one thing... "It does present a few... logistical challenges, however. Blending in when I want to, for example, so I'd prefer not to be green for that reason. Fixing it without taking away what I've gained is probably impossible though - but I have an idea of a way that might fix it temporarily as needed. That's only in the idea phase, though - I have so many more important things to work on first," she adds, now sounding just a little bit tired as she thinks about all the lab work she has on her plate. In fact, scheduling this outing with Selina was in part a way to get away from it all for a day before she dives right back in to do even more.

Turning in her seat at Ivy's tone she gently rests her hand on her friend's arm. "I know. I didn't mean it poorly, hon. But I am hoping you had heard something juicy behind those walls. If only..." She drifted off, contemplating how it would be, and just what was whispered behind those doors. With a gentle squeeze she releases her arm, hoping the show of solidarity takes the edge off the reminder of incarceration. It's never fun to have to be where you don't want to be.
As the car is stuck in the horrible stop, go, maybe go, someone didn't quite make the light so they are waiting another cycle at a light, she pulls out a tube of lipstick to apply while they wait. Her eyes are on her meticulous application before she turns again to fix her eyes on Ivy as she explains just what the heck is going on with her new colouring.
She has to blink, as she had never in her wildest dreams contemplated that sort of ..experiment. It's not 'out there,' it's just...nothing in her field. Nodding slowly Selina purses her lips as it is slightly explained. "I wasn't even aware you were that gifted in biochemical-" She waves her hand in the air to demonstrate her lack of knowledge in just what exactly Ivy is describing.
"It is a fitting color. And you are quite right, it's beyond exotic. I can think of a few fellow colleagues who may be interested in your new look." A few that honestly prefer the color green to the other colors one could choose.
As Pam explains more, and as Selina mentally corrects herself as Pam now prefers to go by Ivy, she nods, her mind attempting to wrap itself around just the sort of experimentation and knowledge it would take to achieve these sorts of results. "And that, to change pigmentation, sounds like it would be a loss. And all that work down the drain. What you're doing now is fantastic, though. In the hotter days it might prove uncomfortable, unless you're going to tell me you have a fix for that, too?" She lightly teases her friend. "Or at least have contemplated it?"
"Did you have anywhere specific in mind you wanted to start off our little adventure for today?" She asks, her mind already compiling stores and places for them to replenish her out of date wardrobe.

"Oh, of course, dear - many juicy somethings," Poison Ivy replies instantly - she'd kept herself in the thick of the rumor mill during her entire stay, after all, "In fact I hardly know where to begin..." Letting that trail off to encourage Selina to be more specific if she wants those juicy somethings to be repeated - she's quite sure that there are some items of more interest than others and she hardly knows what would strike Selina's interest the most. For all they have in common, they're also quite different, after all, so she can't really go based on what she found the most interesting herself.
As Selina expresses ignorance about her skill level, Poison Ivy simply declares, "I am the best in my field." Or at least as far as she can determine - she hasn't seen the other possible contender for the title in several years, lucky for him, and she's gotten much better since so she'll assume that she can now claim superiority. Of course, what it means to be the best is probably something beyond Selina to grasp until she sees it, not being in the field herself and unaware of the sheer amount of possibilities.
She simply grins at the mention of the reaction of the other rogues, because yes she can well imagine that there will be interest. And it will probably be quite amusing... "Well, I don't think that I'll need to blend in very often, for one thing. But yes, covering myself enough on a hot day is uncomfortable - I'm not exactly comfortable at the moment, in fact. Though I do have something that will help us shop undisturbed today," she explains, pulling an unmarked lipstick container out of her pocket and holding it up, "I was thinking that we should go to Monolith Square - I know that the boutiques in north Gotham dive more deeply into the best trends, but that can be such a hunt and what I really need above all is this season's essentials. I can worry about finding the right purse after I have a pair of pants I'm not ashamed of." Well, maybe she exaggerating a little, because of course she has a decent collection of classic pieces that don't go out of style no matter what the trend is, but she's sure that Selina understands her point nevertheless.
Spotting a chance to get out of this mess, she suddenly takes a right turn onto a street with much less traffic and she takes immediate advantage of it by being more than a little generous with the gas. The rest of the traffic is flowing at a much more sedate pace, but she smoothly shifts her convertible from lane to lane as needed as if dancing its way through the other vehicles.

A brow is raised as the fact gossip did occur in the Asylum is brought to attention. She shivers just faintly. The fact of being behind bars, and walls for so long hits her just so. It's a place she'd rather not be inside for other than a visit. "I don't even know where to start, as I was not quite sure who else was inside with you. And of course, I'd rather not push the whole ordeal, considering all the events you missed, being inside." She frowns and crossed her ankles once more, sipping at her coffee as they move on to new topics.
Nodding as Pam acknowledges her lack of knowledge about botany and so forth. "Not my field, but I'm always willing to expand my knowledge, you know." As the lipstick is proffered, Selina reaches a hand to the unmarked tube. She's cautious with it, not quite opening it as Ivy makes a turn, and thankfully they are out of the barely crawling traffic. "Monolith Square sounds like a fantastic place to shop. And perhaps a duck into the fashion district; but you know how out of left field things can be over there." She's tumbling over the possibilities of how Ivy is going to function now, in society, without being ostracized. While the green is a lovely shade on her complexion, it certainly makes her stand out. And considering what landed her in the Asylum, she can only hope there is some plan up her sleeve.
"But after pants, and a purse, what exactly is this?" She holds up the small tube, and looks to Ivy again. "Are you working on your own cosmetics line?"

Having been in the asylum for as long as she was, it holds no unease or fear for her. It was simply uncomfortable and unpleasant, but merely on the same level as being in a drafty room - entirely tolerable but undesired. "Oh, several were in and out," she replies, trying to remember the specifics. Sometimes it can be so hard to keep track of people when she cares so little about most of them. "Harvey, the clown, Crane and his little girlfriend, Miss Dahl, Zsasz, Freeze, and of course the regulars," she lists off, referring in that last bit to those asylum denizens who don't regularly escape - some are nevertheless of some note and consequence outside of the asylum.
"And there's no need to refrain from discussing it - I was there practically voluntarily after the first few days, and I'm hardly traumatized by the experience," she reassures, her casual and relaxed tone indicating as much just as much as her words are. In fact to her it's almost as if she was simply forced to endure an undesirable housing situation for a time - if anything, she'd rather spend hours griping about it. Though she figures that Selina would be underwhelmed by that topic of conversation, so she'll refrain.
As Selina suggests the fashion district as an expansion to their shopping spree, she can't help but make an amused noise at the comment about how... unusual what they might find there could be. Oh, she knows... The things you can find there are either a triumph or a disaster - one or the other of those extremes with no middle ground. "We'll have to see how much time we have," she replies, as it all depends on just how quickly or not they can find the more important items.
Her eyes glued carefully to the road while she speeds through traffic, she smirks when she's not unexpectedly asked about the lipstick. "In a manner of speaking, perhaps," she answers, "A private collection... That I haven't fully tested yet, my only test subject thus far wasn't in the best condition, but if it works like it's supposed to then it causes any man it comes in contact with it to be unable to resist doing whatever I say for several hours. I figured you'd prefer that I brought that instead of some of my more lethal alternatives." Because while she doesn't think a thing of killing off pretty much anyone she doesn't care about, she's aware that others don't feel the same way about it. And being able to force someone to follow orders is nearly as effective for keeping someone out of your way.
