Instructions and Guidelines: The Gala is finally here, folks! Just a bit of a reminder for everyone, considering the high traffic of characters, but there -will- be posting guidelines. (A refresher is here, too!)For this thread, everyone has 72 hours to post, after the last person has written their post[posted time on the forum]. Three full days. If three full days has passed, with no word to me of some sort of circumstances that you weren’t able to post, it will be counted as a skip. After the first skip, I will come to you. After 2 skips have occurred, I will be contacting you to NPC what your character would have done in the absence of your post. If you exceed the amount of skips, you will be asked to leave the thread, and the same instance of NPC’ing, without compromising plot will occur. If any uncouth behavior also occurs, a character may be removed from the thread at my discretion. REVISED GALA GUIDELINES: please see THIS POST!For the first part of this thread, please mix, and mingle. Once everyone gets a post in, we’ll do several rounds so there will be time for everyone to speak to old, and new friends alike. After that, there will be a link to the next ‘event’ in the Gala, where another informative post will be, and the whole process will start over again for that featured event. Please enjoy the following descriptions of the Metropham Gala, enjoy yourselves, and as always, please snag me via PM, AIM, or however you wish if there are questions, concerns, or comments. Much love, ~Selina I would also like to give a big huge, THANK YOU to the following: Bruce, Lex, Ava. You know what you've all done. Without their help, and your participation, this would never have came to fruition. And you all, for taking this wild ride with us!

Gala theme! Due to the intricacies of the Gala theme, there is a description post for your perusal. There are also waiters with Hors d'oeuvre and champagne flutes, and quiet music in the background, courtesy of several live strings players Exterior of Liberta del Mar Up close pic of Liberta del Mar Liberta del Mar: Greeting all visitors upon their arrival to the entrance way of Liberta del Mar, is the elegant and unique architectural design the posh entertainment establishment cultivates through and through. The structure of Liberta del Mar is built as an external add on to Gotham’s mountain-scene which overlooks both sea and city, allowing for the perfect view to be had by all who visit. Liberta del Mar celebrates its extravagant location of nature-meets-urban beauty by showcasing amazing themes of décor seen within the luxurious resort. The theme of Liberta del Mar is Elemental – highlighting the top four elements of nature: Earth, Air, Fire, and Water for each room environment design Water Entryway Socalizing and Mingling Area
The Water Environment: This element represents the first theme to be experienced upon arriving at Liberta del Mar as it decorates the grand entryway and all mingling spaces – allowing for simple socialization and provides hallway openings leading to the other elemental rooms within. Running water surrounds the glassy wall and tile surfaces – creating a soothing effect. Any information about event schedules, venues, etc. can be acquired here. Water Acrobat Professionally skilled trapeze artists, clothed in shades of aquatic blue, perform endless acts of death-defying, high-wire, trapeze stunts with fluid grace and liquid ease – living art featuring the element of water displayed for all to enjoy, found only within The Water Environment. Bar and Nightclub The Fire Environment: This element represents the main theme to be experienced at and of the nightclub/bar scene - live flames and magma tile line the flooring while the bars appear to be made of volcanic rock hold any type of liquor to be desired. This area is rather large, dimly lit, and is accompanied with quiet areas for private meetings of all sorts. Mingling and drinking is the desired main effect here. Fire Acrobat Professionally skilled pyro kinetic entertainers, clothed in shades of fiery red, perform endless acts of live fire baton twirling, fire breathing, and fire swallowing stunts with sizzling style and blazing speed – living art featuring the element of fire displayed for all to enjoy, found only within The Fire Environment. Dance Floor/Ballroom Balcony The Air Environment: This element represents the main theme to be experienced at the breath-taking balcony built at sky rise level to overlook Gotham City’s entire skyline, as well as felt within the dance floor aspect area built within the vast confines of Liberta del Mar. A tornado-themed chandelier and center piece keeps the dance floor alit, allowing for gusts of gentle cool wind to breeze about the room every now and then, along with music and laughter. Enjoyment and fun is the desired main effect here. Air Acrobat Professionally skilled artistic gymnasts, clothed in shades of windy white, perform endless acts of balancing positions, bizarre human pyramid creations, and highly coordinated acrobatic stunts with breezy elegance and airtight perfection – living art featuring the element of air displayed for all to enjoy, found only within The Air Environment. Stage and Dining area The Earth Environment: This element represents the main theme to be experienced at the main ballroom/stage and dining location. Rocky walls with lush flora and fauna lining their sharp points cultivate the main dining area – leading out to a stage that overlooks Gotham’s shoreline with a seemingly unprotected opening to the night sky. However, this opening behind the stage’s platform is indeed protected with a highly powerful, invisibly lined sheet of specialized weather-pane glass (capable of adding enhanced visuals to any presentation). Dining and presentations is the desired main effect here. Earth Acrobat Professionally skilled acrobatics, clothed in shades of earthy green, perform endless acts of body contortions, incredible feats of enduring muscle strength, and limitless pain control by walking over hot coals or laying atop a bed of nails with grounded determination and earthen strength – living art featuring the element of earth displayed for all to enjoy, found only within The Earth Environment. Food: A themed cake in each section with color coded finer foods/appetizers. Open bar. Waiterstaff with champagne.

Lex Luthor walks casually through the meeting area, monocle and earpiece combo on the left side of his face, tuxedo pressed immaculately as he looked over the water area. He'd given a similar monocle for Selina to use, and it did change the way that things were seen. Augmented reality at its finest, info came up as asked, hers was hooked up to his for the moment, so she could see what he saw if she chose "Alright, and the lights." The lights came on into the water area as he stood next to Selina Kyle. He looked around the area for a bit, then said "And so they'll come in here, and the first thing they see is . . . the water entry. It's good. . . slightly luxurious, but clean. I told you the clean lines would work for this area. . . While it's good to start out trying to overwhelm your audience with something ostentatious, this technically won't be the real first area. They'll get a chance to gather, set their minds together and get into a gala mindset before moving deeper into things."
He stroked his chin for a moment then shook his head "No, it's perfect. The gathering area isn't too cluttered and there's enough room for mingling while not too much room that it would feel empty." He considered again. More than any, he put a lot of thought into this area. The subtle interplay between outdoor and indoor elements, the soothing colors and the way the water invited, then surrounded and cooled, in a slightly alien way.
"The lighting here, should do for the first tenth of a second. I told you all about amygdala hijack? How the emotional part of the brain hijacks the decision making part of the brain when there's something new to see? How the smaller and shorter pathway allows the amygdala to receive some direct inputs from the senses and how we throw together a response before events are even processed by the neo-cortex. One tenth of a second. That's how long it takes for the brain to form an initial idea of what it's seeing, but to also form an opinion about it." He shakes his head, speaking slowly as he walks through, looking at how the lights moved through the water and the sunlight. He tapped the side of his monocle and closed his right eye to stare through it, the colors changed slightly "Yes, the colors will be perfect." He looked up to where the acrobat would be, and again said "And the acrobat" staring through the monocle at empty space near the banners. In the monocle he saw the rehearsal footage overlaid where the acrobat would be. It was quite an effect "Yes. Yes!" he takes a step back slowly to the entry way and says "And recompile" The entire scene changed, colors changed. He stares through the monocle, looking about, then opening his right eye and closing his left, he switches between the eyes. "Good. It's alien enough to be new, yet still soothing enough to be calm. It's cool in here, so they'll mingle, but not too long. It'll keep them thinking, not feeling too at ease yet. Initial introductions to the concept, and then we warm the colors slightly so it's subtly more comforting." He pursed his lips for a moment and then said "Simulation P:100" Suddenly a large crowd of generic people in suits talking and milling around in the area through the monocle. He spoke into his lapel "Simulation P:100 I said. I want it through the loudspeakers" suddenly the sound of generic conversation, a woman's laugh, nothing too clear. It wasn't too noisy, the echoes were minor enough, the water and the random banners absorbed enough of the sound that it was clear yet also large. "Yes, that'll do. End simulation. Perfect. We're entering the fire section now. Turn the flames on."
He starts walking back to the bar area, the warm colors and bright fiery lights make it appear to be an entirely different world "And then to the fire area. If we warm the colors it won't be an unnerving transition, but it will be significant enough to again, create a first impression. And . . . " he walks to one of the lightbulbs and flicks it with his finger, it's seemed to have gone out. 'And lightbulb 3052-G has gone out." He refers to the monocle again to find the number of the bulb. "Can someone make sure this one's replaced? I know it's behind the bar but still. we do have standards to maintain."
He looks around again and says "simulation - P . . . " he thinks for a moment "300" He looks around nods saying "Yes, you were right, Selina, I was worried this would be too much, but I think with the people it'll be good. Simulation P-500" He stares through the monocle. Again a massive amount of people. It pauses for a moment to process and then the people walk. The simulator attempts to take boundaries into account for traffic patterns but there's still a bit of clipping. Lex grumbles and then says "End simulation. . . I'll need to work on that later." He sighed and sniffed the air. "I haven't had a chance to smell the combinations of the foods yet, just a few individually, but I trust the caterers I hired, and I'm certain yours will be good. It's important, and I hate leaving something that important to chance, but . . . I'll have to risk that the smells won't be perfect. I should attempt to jury rig the nostril filters to a simple chemical matrix, I could reproduce smells for the simulator." He looked again to his lapel and stated "archive T-15 seconds, Lex-143" He sighed and looked at Selina for a moment, then again at the room. "Yes. And the acrobat." He looks about, the warm colors the flame, the fire. "Yes, this area's very nice. I might actually try to get a sitting room with this decor. It turned out much better than I thought at the time. Well done, Selina."
He gave one final look over, then said "Right then." He smiled slightly and sardonically to Selina "So, would you be willing to join me on the dance floor?" He offered his arm, as if enjoying a minor inside joke. Selina would remember the conversation the first time they looked at the dance floor. "And . . . floor and lights and acrobat. . . and balcony." He points and runs his finger through the air considering the line. "Simulation P-300:Dance 2" He watches as simulated people dance. Music plays over the loudspeakers. Everything's good. "Good, no problems here" another look over all the lightbulbs. "And these ones are all working. . . excellent." He starts to move past into the next session with one final lookthrough. "And Acrobat. . " And then he starts walking to the next area. "End simulation. Good"
"And now to come back to Earth." He looks over the wood and the tables. "Comfortable, not ostentatious, warm again. A calming area next to the excitement of the air section. Plenty of seating. . . Simulation Restaurant, Large." He looks again, the tables are filled with generic people, random folks wandering between tables with trays, he notices a few issues with two of the tables, some of the people backing up into eachother. He walks to the area and reaches down to pull the tables apart by about three feet, then he looks again. Now the people walking don't appear to be backing up or running into one another. "Right, tables good. End simulation." He then looks up and says into his lapel "Now the screen." The screen comes on, sound check is performed. . . "Sounds good, looks appropriate from the back" He starts to walk forward "and still clear, good. . . The screen itself is something I'm quite pleased with. I've been debating having the windows of my office replaced with it. . . but we'll see. It looks . . . adequate. Again, I sampled the food with you and it was appropriate, but we'll need to see how it comes together tonight. This room is where everything comes together." He looks at Selina for a bit. "Yes, I think we've got enough to start with. Recompile and restart simulation. Restaurant large, screen on. . . oh, and the Acrobat."
He considers for a moment and then says "Alright, screen off, reset." he looks up from his lapel and then offers his arm to Selina "Shall we then be off to welcome our guests?" A faint smile crosses his face as he takes off the monocle, slipping it into his pocket.

Her hand on his arm, Selina peered through her own monocle. It was really a thin lens, framed by slim metal to form a pair of glasses, but she liked the name and was quite impressed. Even if she might have to recheck her eye shadow after this. But the trip was worth it. But it was slightly disconcerting, seeing the lights flare up on one eye, overlaid on the actual setting. "This is gorgeous, you know." She murmured, nodding, and seeing everything in exacting detail.
"I can stand here, welcome people. Then usher them toward you, for a second welcome. I hope it's not too much, but just in case someone comes through a bit, shall I say, under dressed, I want to be prepared." And he had a very, very strong hunch that a few guests may want to pull fast ones. And if they were going to do that, they'd get the whole kit and caboodle. She'd pushed their outfits to white tie. And they could wear it, or they could face her wrath. And she had a feeling she knew what they would choose.
She nodded as Luthor rambled about this and that. To her, it looked perfect, his tech blending with her original views for what the whole thing should come together as. She'd wanted a more organic feel, because in truth, she'd been to one too many sterile, granite and black and white and nothing more events, and they were so boring to look at. There was only so much you could do to people watch.
"You did swap a bit of the flow...but I like how it really is more organic, and less harsh on the eyes. Fantastic. And oh-!" The acrobat was fantastic. He'd mimed and mimicked what would occur, and as she closed her eye as well, she could see it unfolding in perfection. "It's all being tied up so well. I-" She let her words trail, considering there needed to be no more encouragement. It was perfection, and perfection only needed to be observed, taken in, and appreciated. Instead her hand squeezed his forearm. He understood subtlety. And keenly. She could appreciate that in a man.
And the fact he's going to alter the temperatures to keep people moving is genius. She can't believe he's taking her ideas, and spinning them in revolutionary ways. As he brings up different scenarios, she can see, and hear everything.
She follows him to the fire elemental area, the flames roaring to life. Raising a brow, she never would have caught that small bulb. As he goes to investigate it, she shakes her head at his level of dedication to this. They really are a good coupling for this join endeavor. She brings the ideas, he brings the pedantic.
As he comments on this and that, she smiles, taking his arm with a wink. The opening scene before them is fantastic as they observe, and then it's onward. This earth theme is solid. Rich. And she can see how effortlessly things go from one area to the next, and she can't help but feel a swelling of pride. It's a full circle back around to the air and water themes, the start of the gala soon upon them. A final glance, and she slips the monocle from her eye to a secreted pocket in the dress he sent her. Pockets! Who thinks of that! Turning to him, she smiles, a hand smoothing down her dress. "I must get the name of the seamstress you went to for this gown. It's beyond perfection, Lex. I don't know how you were aware of my plight in finding one, you certainly out did yourself. Thank you."

" I just have a nasty habit of leaving you only partly dressed." He smiles as he reaches into his pocket, pulling out another box. This one larger. Inside a few pieces of jewelry. A necklace, a ring, and to top it off a bracelet. All of them a mix of white golds and diamonds and emeralds to match the dress and her eyes. He smiles as he says " To complete the ensemble" He hands her a smaller box, which when opened reveals something . . . even more precious. " I saw the ones you had at our last meeting, and felt that perhaps you were due for an upsell. They match the bracelet, which has similar qualities and has a similar manufacture to my watch. The ring also, has some upsold qualities to it that we can discuss in detail later. The necklace, though. That was difficult, to try to get the match of the jewelry and the look to mingle with the upgrades." He smiles widely. " I saw the look on your face at dinner, and I realized there is always more to you than I expect. That's why I bought you these as a personal gift. Jewelry that matches you, more than meets the eye, sparkling on the outside, but intelligent and powerful within." He takes her arm and says " Let's go meet the guests"

Pausing, she can't believe it. Nodding, she arches a brow as he continues to speak, and opens said box. For one of the few times in her life, she is quite taken aback. A large square cut emerald ring. The necklace. And the bracelet. Gingerly she places the pieces with his help, trying not to mark up the bracelet with fingerprints, but it truly is gorgeous.
"Thank you.." She finally stammers, composing herself enough to press a kiss to the corner of his mouth.
As he explains the reason, (to which, in her mind, there really never needs to be a reason to give such a gift), she finds herself going from a coy smile, to a large grin. "You certainly know how to treat a girl, Lex. And you've keenly cracked my love of jewels, and technology, and merged them seamlessly. A true modern day alchemist. I can't thank you enough. And trust me to hold you to that explanation, good Sir." After she places the upgraded earpiece in, it's easy enough to test it, and they are on their way.
The waitstaff, and real performers start to filter in, the musicians for placement as the the two continue to walk, her deposited at one end of the mingling area, him at the other. She's hard to miss, as she's the only person, other than Lex behind her, further into the airy room.
It's time for the festivities to begin.
[Note: Post your IC entrance, folks! There is no particular order at this point. And have fun!]

Post by Kory Anders - Starfire on Feb 28, 2014 5:41:43 GMT -5
There was certainly a deepened sense in Kory tonight, it was going to be a stellar night. It was a far cry from the many traditions on Tamaran, though many of them Kory had also missed, but never to be feared. Kory was always up for anything. Particularly anything joyful and most of all with the high chances there would be dancing… Where actually this place was, Kory had really little clue, but x'hal knew she was excited. From the shear echoes and whispers, it certainly got Kory's golden nose twitching. When the four elements were a key thing, she had to know it was could be breathtaking. She could defiantly bring her own element of fire, not just the burning and destruction, but warmth. Beauty. Light. Hope. Even more so given she was ditching the glasses tonight. Yep, she wasn't hiding the fact she was Starfire. Koriand'r, despite few truly knew her real name, but really whatever name it didn't change her one bit… There had been that exciting wait, surprisingly it had only been brief. When Dick had found the golden beauty jumping and dancing on the bed. Perhaps a little bit prepping, mostly she was just in a good mood and maybe she couldn't sit still long enough. The excitement shift and grew. Leading to half flying and jumping on Dick, without busting her dress.
"Let us, Handsome!"
Bare feet planted on the floor as Kory planted a deep kiss on his lips she could almost feel his tongue, hands momentarily swept around his neck. Didn't ignore his sweet teasing comment, merely giggled. He knew her better than that… She had sunbathed as much as she could today. Kory had soaked up a lot of energy, yep it was going to be a long night either way. Straightening any wrinkles on his blaze Kory may have unravelled. Turned and bent. Getting her nice little gold toned shoes and began strapping them on. The heel was decent, so she wasn't going to trump Dick to much. Grabbed at a little beaded bag and hung it nicely over her shoulder. Pretty much the essentials phone and protection. Oh, and floss. To catch any stray seeds or anything nasty in her teeth. Not that she was aiming for the million dollar smile, she really didn't think in dimes. Though she did perk up as Dick swept her up a little, coaching her out with an linked arm and mentioned the Jaguar…
"OH… Wow! Like in the circus?"
Kory expressed as they exited her bedroom and headed to go down to the garage. She was almost sure he was trying to trick her, not entirely sure what he mention or what he was talking about. The Jaguar? Either way it sounded it should be exciting. Maybe it was an actual jaguar? Dick was from the circus, who knew what other tricks he had up his sleeves, although she was almost sure this was not custom on Earth. Then again she'd never really attended a black tie event. On special occasions on Tamaran they would go hunting on bare back, so Kory took a stab. Looked around for Roy as they headed down to the garage. Soon spotted Roy all tall, dark and handsome waiting in front of a black shiny car. Ah! Kory was clued in now… It looked cat like…
"Roy! You look amazing!"
Honesty and brightly Kory expressed. Her green eyes were not deceiving her. Greeted with with a some simple friendly pecks on the cheeks. It certainly been a while since she'd seen Roy so formal. So dashing. "Why thank-you. You look even more amazing, princess… Shall we jet off? I know I'll take the backseat." Kory smiled sweetly, cheeks glowing just a bit and her dress sparkled faintly in the dim garage, not exactly a light catching room. Defiantly ready at Roy's words and she was sure Dick was wanting to get a move on this. When was he ever late. Between the two gentleman she more than capable of taking her seat beside the drivers seat. Beside Dick. X'hal. As her eyes looked around the new car. Clean. Had that car scent. She was more of a starship kinda gal, but these could be pretty cool. She wasn't sure when Dick was actually going to make up his mind or if he was just having fun trying them all out. Maybe a little of both. It certainly wasn't long before the car got in motion and they headed out of the garage. Into the heart of Gotham. Towards the north, least if Kory was guessing. It was best to leave Dick with the directions. After a decent speedy drive and a little minor chit chat. They were arriving at the venue. Far more than just a venue. Kory gasped a little at the sight. She was almost sure she had never seen anything of the sorts before, if she had this totally trumped it. With the shear smile on her lips, it wasn't difficult to tell she was eager to see in closer and most of all see Selina. Give her massive props. She really knew how to pull out all the stops. Eager when the car was pulled up and Kory was able to exit the car. Met with such fresh air. It was still chilly from the wintery weather, but there was certainly a freshness. Perhaps helped with the sea. Once the car dealt with, parked. Kory met Dick, motioning to take his arm again. This was also a date for them, officially after all the rough patches. So they could defiantly use a couple hours to enjoy themselves outside of the home...
"You were right, Dick. That Jaguar can really purr… X'hal this place is beautiful, I can't wait to get inside… So you never told me you knew Selina, Roy?"
It certainly wasn't hard inching herself closer to him. He looked good anything, but if anything his scent would always draw her in. There was a little added musk about it tonight. Breathing him in. With glance. Flash of her eyes. A flash of her smile, more than a flash, it lingered more than Speedy. Making a sweet comment about the car. The Jaguar! Before of course the unescapable her eyes catching all reaches they could make of the scenery and yet, she was sure she was missing some detail, whilst catching another. Beautiful. Really beautiful. Before eyes caught Roy closely beside, a little a head. Really she had little clue as Dick did, that Roy knew Selina. Had she perhaps they could have caught up down in the local cafe. "Oh yeah. Selina and I go way back, Princess. Use to shoot hoops back in the hood!" Roy had responded charming and potentially joking. Kory naturally raised her red brow… The hood? What hood? She was almost sure she was missing something. Hmmm, perhaps they could have been team players… "I'm kidding. I can't say I have met her… Yet… Though I suppose ladies do like to talk now, don't they princess! I guess I'm somewhat of a hot topic." Roy had assured Kory with a playful smile, no doubt. Flashed his brown eyes at the, yet. Kory was sure they'd hit it off. Roy certainly had his charms behind all that shielded humour. Motioned closer to her. Playfully grazed her golden jaw line when mentioning the 'girl talk'. Raised his knowing brows as he stepped away a little. Ah, yeah. As Kory blushed innocently, she could certainly be guilty for talking about Roy with Selina. It certainly made more sense now. Reaching an entrance, Roy allowed them to go first.
"You defiantly are a topic… Why did you bring your guitar?"
Kory simply and teasingly commented. Catching the amusement on Roy's face. Not giving him the satisfactory so much, though was curious why he was carting his guitar with him or at least his case. "Never you mind, princess… I always come prepared!" Hmmm! Kory looked at him curiously, but there was defiantly no telling tales on his face. Prepared? Prepared for what, she wondered. As Roy left their side, least for now. Perhaps to go check it in or something. Put it in a safe place. As they now entered what Kory was certainly tapping on paradises door. WOW. As she walked mostly in awe. If there were people to greet them, they pretty much went unnoticed right now. Entering the airy, open room. She really hadn't been to such a events to know the customs, so she merely entered. Entranced a little. The inside space, but most certainly the view. There was a good chance she even slipped from Dick's side. Before her green eyes caught glimpse of a familiar figure. There was never any mistaking. As the tamaranean smiled wonderfully at her friend. Breaking the space that was between, in a decent pacing.
"Wow, this is truly exquisite… Greetings Selina! It is so wonderful to see you, you look stunning… X'hal, I had no idea this existed nor imagined it be so… So breathtaking."
There be little stopping Kory from greeting her friend. As openly and as cheerful as Kory was as she approached Selina. Embracing her with a hug, a friendly little warm hug, not to tightly to get dresses caught, but enough it was warm and sweet. Whilst commenting on the amazing environment that surrounded them. Pecking a sweet added friendly kiss to Selina's check. Perhaps it hadn't been more than a couple days since she had spoken to her last, but hmmm, that time was certainly enough Kory had missed her. Even more joyed to see her. As Kory stepped back and complimented on how beautiful Selina looked. No black, but green. It was truly bringing out her eyes. Dropping her golden hands to linger a little at Selina's hands, as friendly as could be. With an added smile. Kory's eyes escaped again around them, as never as honestly as Kory could say, never seen such a place, even more so on Earth…. Gazing around and then out to the view, she really wasn't sure what she imagined and she happily forgot about it. Because this… This was… As Kory stepped away and towards the view of the landscape… It was breathtaking.

“...as you can clearly see, thanks to the relentless efforts of Gotham’s own Selina Kyle, CEO of Black Cat securities and her co-host Lex Luthor of LexCorp this much awaited Metropham Gala is officially a reality! Now that you’ve got your sneak peek into this aesthetically pleasing event, got a clue of what fashions Gotham’s elite are adorning this evening and heard from the co-hosts about the elemental-themed extravaganza; I’m off to enjoy the party myself – I think I’ll take my chances in the fire first.” Sending a flirty wink in the direction of the camera, it cued one of her assistants to hand Summer a long-stemmed glass which contents nearly reached the rim. In her normal, typical social setting she would have been extremely timid when it came to drinking it, however now that the camera lights were on her she continued to smile charmingly before taking a simple sip. The substance coated her throat and tingled on the way down. “I’m Summer Gleeson of Gotham Live, and I’ll be back later for the highly anticipated Date Auction which will feature Gotham’s hottest and most eligible bachelors and bachelorettes, including yours truly!” Even though she managed to sound incredibly excited, on the inside she was practically dreading the event that was soon to come. Maybe a few more of these sparkling drinks and then she would loosen up a bit.
When the cameras turned off, Summer’s bright smile continued to play on her plump lips. “This is amazing. I can’t believe I am here!” She said to no one in particular, taking a moment to once again look over the large area that was divided into different sectors each depicting a different element. The idea what very unique in itself and was pulled together incredibly tastefully. Summer unknowingly took another sip of her drink, holding the elegant glass in her perfectly-manicured hands. Allowing a small, sigh to fall from her glossed lips, she looked at her crew pleased with the overall performance. “Well, that was nice. I’m off, but I will meet up with you twenty minutes before the Auction. Remember, you are a representation of Gotham Live – do not embarrass me. Just because it is an open bar, doesn’t mean it’s open to you. Unless I come find you and tell you otherwise the cameras are off, oh- except for these. I want brief clips of these event highlights so I can use them on my show tomorrow morning during the event recap. So, that’s what you can do. Take this list and start rolling, think of it as a scavenger hunt that your job depends on.” Speaking almost patronizingly, she handed the list to one of the camera assistants and continued. “Check in with me every hour or so in case I think of something else. Thanks!”
With that, she was off. Her now half empty glass in her hand, she started in the opposite direction of her crew, leaving them to their assignment. After practically revolving the past few days around preparations for covering the event, it was nice to finally sit back and actually enjoy herself. Her flattering, short pale pink dress seemed to sparkle in tandem with the clever lighting scheme, making the young reporter feel like somewhat of a celebrity as she traveled slowly through the larger fire element, looking for a familiar face or just one worth talking to.

Harvey pulled up in his teal Ford '59 Fairlane. Despite his love of classic things, he couldn't help but roll up, bumping some Gaga, because why not? He had to admit, no matter the ridiculous shit she did and wore he kind of loved her. He had bought her new album on vinyl as well as digitally to put on the SD cards he had installed in his car stereos. The valet gave him an odd look as he got out of the car. Harvey couldn't really help himself, he was looking good and feeling fine. And not to mention, he looked so good he felt on top of the world in his fashion. He made sure to tell the valet to take care of his car and slipped him a fifty. He knew other guys with more money to throw around would tip twice if not triple what he tipped, but Harvey's little car was too sweet to not be appreciated by the valet. The valet smiled to him and took off in the car to go park it. Harvey strode into the gala, a bit of a hop in his step. He passed Summer and winked to her, pointing at her. "Hey, Gleeson, save a dance, eh?' Harvey laughed, knowing she would probably gag. He took satisfaction now in her dislike of him. It was great. At least it was something to play off of. As he made his way in he noticed all the tuxedos every other man was wearing. Many of the ladies smiled and bit their lips, he'd give them winks, nods, wiggling eye brows, and even a purr or growl here and there. He was a peacock amongst a sea of penguins. He wasn't even wearing a bow tie either. Harvey was defiant a lot of the time, sometimes in little ways, other times in bigger ways. He did not, honestly, see the logic in looking like every other schmuck here. Harvey wasn't here for work, he was here for a good time and the opportunity to look better than all these other wise guys and show 'em how it was done. By the time he made it to the 'water environment, or the main room, sort of the lobby of the event, he already had at least three girls that had cozied up to him, hanging off his arms. It paid off to feel good and look good. He flirted with all three of them, telling them he'd book them himself for being too damn fine. They giggled at his jokes and wise cracks. One of them offered to get him a drink, and then the other two started arguing, then all three were arguing. "Ladies, ladies, ladies! Get along or I'll gave to cuff ya." They giggled and blushed. I should dress like this all the time.

When Rowdy Yates pulled up to the curb, he exited his vehicle and allowed the valet to park it for him. Placing the claim ticket in the inside pocket of his tuxedo jacket, he went and found the greeting line. There he stood and waited his turn to shake Lex and Selina's hands.
After he shook hands with both of them, Rowdy went on his way in search of a grape soda. He was addicted to it.
Of course, when he saw his friend Vicki Vale taking pictures with her camera, Rowdy waved to her, but she was too busy, too lost in her work to notice. Keeping his distance, he continued walking, feeling slighted but trying not to take it personally.
Rowdy ended up in the Fire Environment.

Vicki Vale was definitely in her element. She loved photography. She was very fortunate that her passion was incorporated in her vocation. There was nothing she enjoyed more.
Vicki was impressed with everyone and how nice they looked tonight. After several minutes, she knew she’d have a hard time deciding which pictures to use later. They were all so good.
Vicki snapped a photo of Rowdy Yates when he went through the line. She wanted to say hello to him, but time did not allow it. Besides, she was too focused on not missing anything or anyone. She figured she'd find him and catch up later. She didn't see his hand wave.
The two photos that Vicki was most anxious about was of Bruce Wayne, of course, and her friend Ethan Young, her escort for the evening. As she continued taking pictures, she wondered when Bruce and Ethan would show up in line.

The pewter MKS, next in a long line of cars, rolled to a stop in front of the Liberta del Mar. Councilman Thorne exited with surprising fluidity for such a large man, greeting the gathered press with a raised hand. He smirked as he stepped onto the carpeted path. Step down from your chariot, and let not your foot, my lord, touch the Earth. Careful to acknowledge everyone he passed, returning smiles with a curt nod, Thorne quickly made his way to the entrance with a brisk wind and his bodyguard, Chick, at his back.
The foyer was bathed in blue. The air was full of conversation and the soft burble of water running along the walls. The cerulean accents gave the room surreal depth and, at the same time, surprising intimacy. "Very nice," Thorne murmured aloud as he passed his coat off to his attendant.
A crowd was starting to gather throughout, some lingering to check the agenda, others simply enjoying the decor. Several familiar faces flashed in the masses about, not one of them welcoming. Maria Finger, Gotham's deputy director of public works, glared at him the other side of a fountain with obvious, noxious hatred in her eyes. He smiled and made his way around the circular stone.
"Ms. Finger, wonderful to see you," Thorne greeted her warmly, holding out his arms. "I hope that you're not still upset about the waste collection contract."
She didn't respond, but merely set down her purse, picked up a drink - and threw it in his face. As Thorne recoiled, his guard instantly snatched her hand in a massive paw, sharply turning her wrist. Finger's eyes went wide as she prepared to scream.
"Chick! Let her go." Thorne wiped at his face with a handkerchief. "Just a bit of water." He took the glass from the deputy director's hand. "No harm, no foul." He smiled, but there was no trace of levity in his tone.
Chick gave Finger a hard look before begrudgingly letting go of her hand. Maria grabbed her purse and quickly made her way towards the exit.

Edward adjusted the grey hat, which matched his suit, to shade his face. His cane had been left behind at the warehouse, giving no connection to his true identity on first glance. Allen came and opened the door, Deidre squealed before jumping out of the car. Edward came out behind her, nodding to Allen in a silent communication before moving forward. The cameras flashed around him, but he made certain none got a particularly good shot of his face. He wasn’t here to make a show tonight. After all, it was Selina’s night to prove whatever socialite status she felt she needed to have. He wouldn’t ruin it for her, especially when he had must more important tasks to accomplish tonight.
Deidre on the other hand was waving to the press, giggling, her hand slipping into his arm and pulling him close to her side. “Eddie this is super classy,” she said with glee, as she chewed her gum.
“Selina always does put together classy events,” he said causally, as they walked towards the entrance. His computer informing him of each person he passed. He needed to find Wayne, but he suspected that man would be ridiculously late. Deidre rolled her eyes.
As they passed Luthor and Selina, Edward stopped. He reached out and shook the CEOs hand. “Luthor, can’t say it’s a pleasure,” he smirked before turning his focus to the lady of the hour in the full beautiful green gown. She looked amazing, but he couldn’t say he expected anything differently. He took her hand, bringing it to his lips and kissing it softly. “I do love you in green,” he whispered, his eyes locking with hers. As he took in her face, the computer began pulling up news clippings and pictures of their past. He truly had known her for years.
Deidre rolled her eyes again. She was wearing green too! Eddie could be so oblivious to how he was being played. He was terrible with women. Deidre moved towards Lex, throwing her arms around his shoulders and hugging him tightly. “How ya doin’, Mr. Powerful! Still plotting destruction?” she laughed, giving him a full kiss, as she pulled away from the hug. “You still taste like mastermind.” She gave Selina a glance, but flipped her hair and walked away from her.
“I should probably follow my date,” he smirked, letting go of Selina’s hand. “Enjoy the evening.”
Edward didn’t run after Deidre. He wasn’t the type of man to chase after people, and Deidre seemed to be doing that annoying emotional thing women do, as she stormed off.
He had time to kill before Wayne would finally show up. He sauntered down the beautifully decorated venue, with no destination in mind. Deidre would find her way back to him when the time was needed. His eyes came across a young red head that seem oddly familiar.
He walked up behind her, placing his hand on the small of her back. “A woman like yourself should not be walking alone, I can only imagine the type of criminals that come to these sorts of things,” he smirked, taking in her features and recognizing her immediately, even without the need of his computer. The host of Gotham Live. Ah yes, hadn’t she snuck into his warehouse a few months back. “May I get you another glass before you rudely slam another innocent man with unexpected interview?”
Deidre stormed off, wandering into some weird type of blue room. What was up with all the crazy flexible folks all over the place! Compensating for somethin’ cat? She grabbed a drink off the tray someone was handing out, and shot the liquid back down her throat. She couldn’t believe how stupid Eddie could be. As she was walking and drinking at the same time, she didn’t see where she was walking, and SLAM.
She walked right into Harvey Bullock and the dimbos that actually thought he was attractive, spilling her glass all over her dress. She gasped in horror, “My dress!” She squealed and looked up to see the cop.
“What’s a low grade copper doin’ here?” she muttered in sadness as she tried to wipe off her dress.

As the car Selina sent to pick her up approaches the Liberta del Mar, Charlotte can't help but alternate between excitement and nervous. The excitement has been the dominant emotion about the Gala for the longest time, but now that the big event is here, she finds herself getting more than a little bit nervous about the specific little details. What if she gets lost somehow, or accidentally upsets someone important, or gets horribly embarrassed because Selina told Harvey to keep an eye on her? What are the odds that the cop is actually capable of doing so without being horribly overbearing? And what if she's the only younger person there. Still, she can't be too pessimistic. After all, she looks very pretty, so regardless of anything else she has that going for her. The tall shoes that keep her dress from dragging aren't even a worry - she wore them around the apartment until she got well and truly used to them. Hell, she could probably do the balance beam in these things now! Okay, maybe not quite that much, but she shouldn't have to even think about her shoes while she's there. But she definitely will be thinking about her jealous - it's gorgeous! Like a princess/ballerina dress. When the car pulls up, Charlotte takes a breath as she gets out, eying the large building as her nervousness about getting lost resurfaces. Fortunately, it's much simpler than her eyes initially led her to believe, as when she gets out of the car it's immediately obvious where she's supposed to walk. The flashing cameras are a little intimidating, though after a moment she just smiles and tries to enjoy it. She's not getting much attention anyway - the media folks have no idea who she is, so any photos of her are probably incidental, and the moment that she walks inside she immediately spots Selina greeting the guests. Okay, nervousness over! She doesn't recognize the man greeting Selina when she first gets there from the back, so she hangs back and stares wide-eyed at the decor for a moment as waits for him to move on before approaching Selina. " Hey, I'm here!" she greets with a smile, the mixture of excitement and nervousness quite obvious in her voice. Knowing that Selina is very busy greeting people, she stands off to the side for a moment so that Selina can keep doing so without her getting in the way, though she hesitates to go further in herself. If anything, there's too many people and too much happening at the moment, though perhaps her nerves will ease when she gets used to the excitement. Remembering that she's supposed to be on her best behavior, she's quick to smile and nod at anyone who looks her way.

This really wasn’t Barbara’s scene. Having tripped over her dress twice already, the redhead couldn’t fathom how she managed to fight crime in high-heeled boots but couldn’t function without tripping over the ridiculous layers of tool that her composed of her gown. Quickly drifting away from her father’s side, Bab’s wandered around the venue absolutely fascinated by its décor and the general theme. It was like walking into the books that she had spent hours dwelling in when she was a child. Her heart fluttered as she slid through the crowds of people to take in all the beauty and the sights in general. There was so much to see, though her discoveries were interrupted by several brief introductions. Mostly, it was her father’s friends coming up to greet her after recognizing her flaming red hair across the room. Most of the women simply wanted to hook her up with their young, eligible sons, but Barbara politely excused herself at the first possible moment and continued to look around the room.
After visiting all four elements and avoiding several conversations, the redhead curiously wandered back to where she began. Taking the opportunity to sample some of the fresh and tasty appetizers, Babs went along happily munching, scanning the room for a familiar face. It wasn’t that she wasn’t content with being by herself, in fact, she actually would have much rather spent this evening training or catching up on her studies. Barbara was a very simple girl, though this gala seemed to be inevitable. All of her friends envied the fact that she was granted this opportunity and begged her to take them as well, but it wasn’t exactly a plus one event. Hoping she might find someone to chat with in order to avoid the trail of middle-aged women trying to arrange a blind date between ‘Jim Gordan’s daughter’ and their potential sons, Barbara continued to move. A waiter with a charming smile approached her with a fair amount of glasses on the sleek tray. He offered it to and she shook her head. “No thanks I’m not t-well, actually.” A mischievous smirk formed on her lips as she quickly looked to insure the coast was clear. “I would love one!” Reaching for the long-stemmed glass, she thanked him politely before bringing the glass to her lips. It was a bubbly, light-colored substance but she had hardly taken the time to look at it before downing the entire glass. Perhaps this wasn’t going to be too bad after all. Not only was she going to get to watch her father be auctioned off on some silly date, but she was going to convince cute waiters she was legal drinking age for the evening. Discarding the empty glass on another tray, it wasn’t long before another drink was offered to her. Reaching out with a devious smile, Barbara quickly accepted.
