Rooster smirked.
"Always so close, but no dice. One of those type of relationships where ten years from now you'll finally look at each other and want nothin' else. Mmmm, love, it's stupid."
Rooster had loved a few times when she was younger, but over time she tended to become a cynic. It was hard to believe so resolutely in a concept that didn't exist, at least in her mind. She knew it existed, it was just not one that existed for her beyond family and friends. If she wanted a little sumthin sumthin she could get it without lifting a finger.
"I'm sure Luthor's a big boy in big britches, he could handle it, but if you insist on staying in Dodge then you better make sure you have a good crew watchin' both yer backs, hmmm."
She toked on her smoke and inhaled it deeply, her eye getting just a bit red around the edges. The thought that she needed to treat her saddle came up in her mind, she was going to be going for a ride tomorrow on the outskirts of Gotham, just outside of the city.
"Just because he's behind bars doesn't mean he ain't still workin', never take that thought for granted."

She opened her mouth, then closed it. It had already been ten years, hadn't it? Something like that.
She drew on her cigarette, watching the blonde, both of them in deep contemplation.
"Sounds like you know a bit more than you're letting on, Beretta. If you're willing to share that, please, let me know."
She wasn't stupid enough to realize, or even underestimate Joker. So what if he was behind bars. She knew he had veins of goons that were loyal to a fault. But if she was being targeted?
"...tell me something new. I have friends already who aren't happy that I'm standing beside Lex. You want to take that place instead, so I can go on a vacation to the Maldives? If you can get Theo in on that, I'd swap with you in an instant. You know your shit, and have a different connection to Gotham. You wear the pretty dresses, smile the smiles, all of it. Deal?" She laughed, raising her glass to the blonde.
A vacation certainly sounded nice about now.

"I know plenty and I know when to shut up. That's for another time."
Rooster smirked, oh the days of love lost, hmmm.
"Eh, Lex Luthor? He'd look a whole hell of a lot better than he already does with me cozied up next to 'im. I could do it. Deal."
Rooster knew the woman wasn't actually offering up the Gala, but Rooster never backed down from challenges, even fictional ones.

Selina grinned over her glass. "Deal. I'll let Lex know." She offered her hand to the woman.
"But I know that he, among a few others, won't like the fact that I'm being threatened. By Joker, or likewise. Myself, especially."
The blonde was rather striking. Eccentric. Not of the city, but was doing damn good for herself anyway.
"You were a cop, weren't you? Any advice other than booking a vacation and running? I'm not too fond of that tact. Did it once before and it just landed me right back in Gotham. Like Bullock, I'm loathe to leave the land I love. And I have a teen I am sort of surrogate mother to. I can't just bail on her, either. Uprooting a child because I'm being targeted is selfish."
And the people she loved.

Rooster smirked a bit. She'd worked very hard very quickly to get her name and image around this town and it seemed to be working well. Association with Lex Luthor might open up the market and opportunity for business prospects in Metropolis, her next city on the list of places she'd like to own another club and/or business.
"Its not you being threatened, the Detective is the one to be threatened, again... you are the woman. The heel of Achilles, the max melting on the wings of Icarus. Have you considered finding a way to cut ties with him? Well... I suppose that is not necessary now that Jay Bird caught you together the way he did."
Rooster thought at her next question.
"I was a cop, then a detective, then a ranger. I think I know a few things about getting the hell out of Dodge. Rent a truck, head to the south, take at least ten thousand in cash. Then again, I never had to do that, so maybe my advice is not the best. I dunno. Anyway... Do what you must. Take the girl with you, call it a vacation."

Rooster was walking a very fine line. If anything, it was shit timing. Very shit timing. Jack hadn't even found them in bed. Or intimate, or anything.
"If that's what you want to call pulling a .45 and a shotgun on someone, then go right ahead. But we've been friends for the better part of 15 years with no funny business. I moved away for school and couldn't keep away. Neither could he. So whatever Jack told you? It's not true." She spat, realizing that whatever Joker had thought? Was wrong.
"He nailed the wrong man. I associate with Batman, but that's a given. The Riddler is a good friend of mine. I know Bruce in the benefit circuits and due to business. Hell, everyone assumes that Bullock and I are knocking boots, even." She looks more angry at the last, because, well, everyone seems to assume it. Yes, they've slept in the same bed together, in their sleeping attire, but why does everyone assume? Rolling her eyes, she understands what Beretta is saying, but still.
"Then he can get his ass out of Gotham. I have obligations and priorities." ...but even that made little sense, because if she was the key to Harvey Theodore Bullock, she'd have to scoot her ass out of Gotham, too. "We can't exactly just cut ties, Beretta." She looks down into her drink before shrugging, and shifting to lean over her drink and watch the ex-ranger.
Selina nodded as she got a brief run-down. "I would. And could in a heartbeat. And I know something will probably happen if I don't. But I can't, and more importantly, won't just uproot that child after she's put good roots down." She laughs roughly at the vacation poke. She'd thought of doing that, before she knew she was a target, even. But she has Gotham in her veins, so if anything, she's going to fight whatever is going to be thrown her way, and expects, and knows that Harvey will do no less.
Swallowing the rest of her drink, she sets the glass down and ashes her cigarette in the tray before going to stand. "Rooster, thank you for speaking with me. Maybe you can knock a bit more sense into Bullock's head. I'll take in consideration what you've said. And good luck to your business. It's already booming, and I'll make sure to mention in to a few friends. And I'll be back for a night or two of fun."

She shrugged and finished her current drink. She would have to quit for the night soon on the drinking. She could feel the craving for some migas starting to hit her.
"Well, I don't have the answers, I never did to begin with, ha. All I can leave ya with is to just be careful. Every situation needs its tailoring, you'll have to find your answers on your own, Miss Kyle. You need anything you just gimme a holler."
Rooster did lean to her side a bit at the mention of Batman.
"So, he's real then? He's not just some myth? Hmm. I doubt I'll ever have dealings with him, but when you see him next, just let him know I don't need him around bustin' up business. I don't need much help from the police I won't need much from him. He's welcome if he pays for his drinks, though, and don't cause no ruckus."
She shook her head with a sigh. She could say the same to Joker, but he was nice enough to give a girl a rocket launcher, at least.
"Children are something I have little experience with. I couldn't give any worthwhile advice there."
Rooster clapped her hand on Selina's shoulder and gave her a nod.
"I only knock dents into people's heads, if they had any chance of having sense in those heads then I wouldn't have put a dent in it in the first place."
Rooster chuckled a warm rolling chuckle. She did love her own jokes, they were great.
"You be safe, watch yer tail, and I look forward to seein' ya again."

Selina snorted at the mention of Batman, as she knocked back the last of her drink and snuffed out her cigarette. "You've met the Joker, had Catwoman come calling in her plainclothes, and you question the Batman? Yes, he's real. And he'll do worse damage with no parting gift than the Joker. It's easier to deal with me, as I have a bit of sway with him." She held up two fingers with the most minuscule bit of space between them.
"I wish I had better experience with kids, but I know where I stand on that issue." And she was firm on uprooting Kit any more than she needed to.
"I appreciate it, either way. And the same to you. Call me, any time. And I'll be seeing you around, less business, more fun." She offered the woman a hand before she stood.
Standing to her feet she was sure she knew the way out and back down to the bar. She'd like to grab one more drink from that Bobby.
