Selina smiled to that. Alfred probably did know him best. "Well, he has been around longer than the most of us. I'd like to think that Alfred is more family, than anything else. I know he doesn't quite 'approve' of what any of us do, but he's always had Bruce's best interest at heart. Food, rest, health. If anything, he's more a father figure, complete with disapproval and love in equal measures."
If anything, Dick would be quite aware how that was, considering Bruce was probably the same way with him. But at some point you'd have to let go, and let them make their own paths in life.
Laughing again, Selina had to nod her head. "Considering you have Kory now, you're more likely to understand those little 'cat and mouse games. By the way, how are you two doing?" Considering where the conversation had started, and now where it had gone, she, too, wanted to keep the topics light. It seemed she had answered whatever veiled questions and concerns Dick had for her.

"That's why we treat him like he is. I'll knock sense into any guest that feels the right to be superior to Alfred. Then again, Alfred can hold his own. Especially with his wits," Dick commented.
Some time it was even fun to see who could outwit whom. The bat family was never short of sarcasm when it come to their conversations. Maybe a mask for their 'feelings'...who was kidding, it was the easiest way to show annoyance or just express their thoughts.
Dick wasn't one for keeping his month shut though when it came to coming up against others. Butting heading with Bruce was what he did best in the family.
When it came to Alfred, there were ways around his rules. Though it was easier to just follow through with what had to be done as far as negotiating the amount of rest one needed as well as down time.
"We all come to that point with someone. To answer your question, we're doing well. There's always a few bumps here and there. Or it my case burns," he jokingly said.
By know Selina knew of Kory being Starfire. And his joking was towards her having powers. She truly was a fiery redhead.
Though the fire wasn't always in an angry way. But they went through their share of fights here and there.

She nodded again, shifting in her chair as she steepled her fingers, then toyed with a pen she kept close. Her thoughts drifted to Alfred for a moment before she had to smile. "He is something. And that something is good, even when he pushes."
But the wits? Well, that was something she had learned not quite the hard way after running into Batman, then Dick as Robin, then Nightwing later on. But with Alfred? Now that was an art, more than a battle. And as much as Bruce would never admit to it, there was more of Alfred's influene in him than he could argue.
Laughing she couldn't believe he'd actually admit to that aspect of his relationship with the redhead. Selina finally wipes a small tear from her eye as her laughing ceases. "I know quite well how she can burn, Dick. We had to stage a bit of excitement for the press on the rooftops." And while they had both tried to be quite careful, she had still taken away a few close calls.

"If it weren't for him, we'd all probably get lost in our work in the cave. He kept us on schedule. Even if it meant having to get some sleep before the state exams in school," Dick replied.
School hadn't been his favorite thing during the time as Robin. Though he knew several languages and was quite the mathematician. It came along with the training and having to deal with technology.
At her laughing at him, Dick raised an eyebrow at her reaction. Almost to say 'really'.
"That's a set up, try having to have quick reaction time to avoid being target practice in an enclosed area. No bad for training though. My reflexes have improved of course over the years since we're worked together," Dick replied.

Her nose wrinkled at that. She could remember those tests. And how horrible they were, and how bad they would be without sleep. Her brow furrows as another piece of his life under Bruce's guardianship had been. Rough, structured, but safe. To a degree. If you really thought about it, aspects of it were more demanding that most military boarding schools. But at least Dick had a bit of a sense of humor. But Bruce's influence was still there, she couldn't deny.
"And food. You can't forget that, Dick." She herself had seen what Alfred could seemingly produce in moments time with little warning. He had a gift, a true one at what he did.
As his brow raised, she pressed the back of her hand to her mouth to stifle another bout of laughter. "Different strokes for different folks, you know. And close quarters training is never a bad thing." She winked at him, hinting at just how close their training brought them.
"Speaking of Kory, and Bruce, when do you and her have an evening free? She had mentioned doubling up and going out sometime. Opera, or a few other options?" She voiced, reaching to her desk and opening a calender.
