Even as Bruce moved closer to Ra’s, still the ancient master felt no fear in his heart. An eventual death was the only thing he feared and he knew that Wayne would never break his code by ending his six hundred years of life. Returning the thousand yard stare that was shot at him, it was clear that the Dark Knight was in a disadvantage, with him having no choice but to either free him now or bury him for a few precious moments, knowing that he would return with furious anger. If his new scheme was put into plan, it wouldn’t stop the League from finding their leaders, even if it would take longer. With every use of the Pits, the time until he needed to bath again would become shorter and shorter, though if he died now due to lack of Lazarus, he would be eventually revived.
The girl, Charlotte, clearly she meant a great deal to these two, a pressure point which can always be abused however learning from his mistakes, Ra’s wondered to how he could use this to his advantage without making it obvious until it was too late. “Either you drug me again like an animal or I wait patiently for a while? Not much of a decision. All you have to do is remove these restraints and I swear on my honor that I will not harm the girl.” In their minds, no doubt they believed that killing children was common practice for the Head of the Demon, ignoring any evidence to the contrary. “I will cut any current plans involving her or Miss Kyle.”
In Ra’s’ eyes, this was an ideal deal for Wayne, in which he got security for Charlotte and her ward while ruining one of his enemies plans. To what Ra’s would to this sub-base, well it was obviously not important enough to later attack. No doubt he had many such sites across the Gotham area, much like this one. Wayne Manor was the only target he had in mind. Rather than attack the fingers, best to remove the head in one fell swoop. However there could be no protection from Gotham’s inevitable reckoning, in which criminals like Catwoman will reap what they have sowed but that argument is for another time.
Always, an eye was upon the timer. There was no point arguing with Ra’s, Bruce should know that the fanatical Assassin is near impossible to persuade. In time with the seconds of the clock, his fingers tapped upon the chair’s metal arm. The last thing he wanted was to be drugged again; he’d rather be knocked out then put to sleep. Silence said more than any words could, silence from the group although a flutter of bats flew across the ceiling of the cave, flying around the formations which hung down around them. Time was a great weapon for Ra’s, time which Batman and Selina did not have. “Even if I’m not found, there will be no one to hold back my vengeful army. You might protect those you care about for a while, but with the Lazarus Pits you will be hunted into your graves so do think about your weak position. You know my reasonable terms.”
