Today, she had to get out of the hotel room. The cramped space was driving her to insanity. She deserved so much more space than that, but there was a reason to be happy still. She had been given an amazing gift. A smile brightened her face as she pulled out the credit card with Oswald’s name on it. She wasn’t sure if there was a spending limit on it, but it was black!
Back and heavy cards always meant one thing, you could spend a lot. If spending a lot was what this card wanted her to so, she was going to deliver. Lola always had to have the best of course. So she was going to a special jewelry shop around the corner. It had one of these sheik marble signs out front that screamed its been on T.V and in every newspaper. It’s like the place that you’d know a famous celebrity bought their wedding ring. It was such a place for her.
Lola had walked in with a certain air to her. She had come in looking for something special. Her polished and manicured nails ran over the first silver case where glittering gold bracelets blinded the consumer. She wasn’t looking for gold unfortunately. Her taste brought her to the back of the room where a fine haired slender woman that looked like she belonged on a runway.
The woman was standing over a particular set of pearls that took Lola’s breath away. ”Those are gorgeous” She exclaimed and put her hands on the case near the woman.”Darling you really need to try those on…” She gave her a sweet smile. Lola could have tried them on herself but this woman was here and her neck was perfect for pearls.
The woman was tall, slender and looked expensive. Lola could tell that she had a taste for the finer things, she just had a certain air about her.”My name is Lola” She introduced herself and gave a glare to the man behind the counter. He promptly got the pearl necklace out and laid it in front of the woman.

Pearls just weren't what she was looking for. And after reading the verbose email from Lex...they weren't quite what he was looking for, either. So while she agonized over the strand, and matching earrings, Selina sighed. Lex's 'vision' for the Metropham Gala was turning more into a nightmare. Or a farce. But at least it was...getting something productive done. Sighing, she bit her lip, glancing down at the list of options on her cellphone. It wasn't long before there was a model-eseque looking woman glaring at the clerk to get the pearls out, and for her to try them on. Wait, what? Turning to look at the other woman, she was met with a bright smile, and an introduction.
...but where had she heard that name? Lola. Lola. Not a common name, but...wait. Oswald. His girlfriend. Really! Turning on the charm, her prior foul mood dissipating, Selina bursts into a large smile. "Ms. Marks! You're Ozzie's lady love! Great timing to bump into you! You must be looking for baubles for the Gala." She gushes, turning slightly away from the pearls for a moment. "I'm Selina Kyle, but you probably already know that," she adds with a demure smile. It seems her name is plastered everywhere as of late, along with Lex's. And she can't get away from it, even though the publicity is nice, it's rather intrusive to her normally more private nature.
Waving her hand at the other woman, she clicks her tongue. "Why don't you try these on? They're gorgeous, handmade, but just wouldn't go with my dress. As hostess, I have certain standards to adhere to. You know how that goes," she muses, inwardly rolling her eyes at Lex's 'standards.' "What brings you in to Madison's?" At the least, she know had a better view of the face that went with the name.

Lola was still new to this place, this grand city of Gotham. Since she had first arrived a few weeks ago she had experienced some of the ups and downs already in the city. Most of what she had seen was provided by her Puffin and of course the generous staff that works for him. So, when she saw Selina she had no idea who she was based on appearance or reputation but she acted as she did all the same.
Lola returned the sweet smile to her and lit up as she recognized her. It made her feel important and she was. Yes, she was Oswald’s lady love and she liked being called that. Better yet, she liked that people knew that. Her name however caused several lights to come on in her head. This was the woman that was throwing the gala! What a small world for them to run into each other like this.
”Well if my gracious host insists I can’t refuse.” She spoke without another thought and focused on the jewelry. Carefully she took it off the display and hooked it around her neck. The man behind the counter quickly lifted up a mirror in front of her to reflect her image. She held her head to the side but kept her eyes looking into it so she could observe them shining off her neck. They really were stunning.
She was convinced. Without removing the necklace she opened her clutch purse and slapped a black credit card with Oswald’s name in silver lettering on the table. The man didn’t even think twice before he picked up the heavy card that screamed she didn’t care how much it was and ran it through the computer. It approved and within seconds the necklace was hers. He thanked her for her purchase and handed her back the card. They really were stunning after all and even Selina agreed that they should be on her neck so how could she not get them?
With that she turned back to Selina and placed her hand on the jewelry to make it her own around her neck. ”I am really glad you had me try these on. They really are perfect for the gala. Thank you, it’s exactly what brings me here.” She thanked her host for letting her take them instead.

It didn't matter who Selina was with, her behavior rarely deviated from her usual nature. Unless there was extenuating circumstances, but that was rare. And usually reserved for something more, well, personal. But if this woman was Oswald's paramour, all the better for him. The little man deserved some happiness in his life to compliment his wealth, and his business. But how they met? Well, that was a story for another time.
Watching keenly as Lola slips the pearls on effortlessly, she does admit they look better on the other woman. "Damn," Selina exhales breathlessly. "You look gorgeous with those. Please tell me you've modeled before, Lola. Please." She insists, a smile on her lips as she notes Oswald's card being used to purchase the baubles.
"Mmm. I'm a consultant most of the time, but that doesn't decrease my admiration for a pretty piece that fits on someone else, rather than myself. And pearls...while exquisite, wouldn't match my dress. And I've too often made a purchase based on how much I liked the piece, rather than how it would fit with my outfit." Laughing, Selina nods to the clerk, and looks at a pair of ..different earrings. Two differnt pairs, set in hematite, and platinum are set before her.
"I've only just secured a dress; and yes, I know it's rather late, and cutting it close to the deadline, but I have high expectations I've had to live up to. Almost impossible, you know, with Luthor." She teases, holding up one of the drop earrings to her own ear as she winks at Lola.

Lola blushed at the comment. No, she hadn’t professionally modeled before but she had posed for a few pictures in the paper. But did she deserve to be treated like a model? Yes. She threw her hand forward in a tossing gesture as to batter her flattering comment away from her. “I’m always opened to the modeling job if offered…But one should act like a model all the time.” She laughed and brought her hand back to cover her new pearls around her neck.
Once her senses were brought back to her she returned the wink and dropped the black credit card with Oswald’s name on it back into her purse. It made her purse slightly heavier, and she liked that. There was nothing like a thick credit card.
Her eyes caught around the drop earring she’d put to her ears. They were beautiful….But another name she didn’t recognize caught her ears. “This is another man that’s going to be at the gala? A lover perhaps? Of course I know my puffin is quite picky himself but he knows I know what I like. ” She tried to make a connection between them considering she was saying that he was particular about her jewelry, it made sense that they were together.
At least now that she had met her hostess she could immediately find the in crowd and snuggle herself in it at the party. It wasn’t that she couldn’t in the first place; it would just be easier now. She was also going to have to make herself acquainted with this Lex person. He sounded important, or at least she made him sound important and no one important should ever be around without her. Her eyes grazed over the counter again and continued to look for pieces. She couldn’t just wear a necklace after all with her dress. She needed earrings and bracelets and rings.

Luthor? A lover? He wished. Shaking her head and laughing at such a suggestion, Selina declined that he was anything even near a lover. "No, he's the man that hired me for the revamp, and we are co-hosting the Metropham Gala. Lex Luthor is a big name in Metropolis. Something like Bruce Wayne is in Gotham, but a different city." If that made sense. But Bruce was a fop, and Luthor...wanted power. Not only wanted it, but craved it.
"He only likes the best. No doubt your Oswald and him will have quite a bit in common to discuss." She added with a smile.
"And if I ever come across a client that is need of a model, I'll be sure to mention your name! And if you're looking for matching pieces, there were a few pearl and diamond accent pieces in the case beside the necklace," she offered. Glancing at the two items she had picked out, she mulled over them, curious as to which would work.

How could Lola take them as anything less than a lover? From what she had been hearing they had been spending an awful lot of time together. ”Yes, Yes, love of course. You have his bank account, he’s in love. Everyone can see that…” She giggled the last part like it was so plainly obvious, if she had the man’s wallet she had his heart. It really was just simple science. As for why he chose her to come down and pick it was another matter. It showed the depth of his foolish love.
She smiled and looked back at Selina, she seemed to have such perfect posture, she was almost jealous. ”Oh you know Puffin, He has to make sure that the part is extravagant enough for us….But of course it will be! It will be spectacular and I can already see it love.”
When she brought up the modeling again Lola couldn’t help but let the light blush rush to her cheeks again. ”I would love to model for whatever you needed!” She exclaimed with glee before rushing over to the next case where she demanded that they were laid out in front of her. When she left the lounge today she wasn’t given any spending limit, there was nothing said. He didn’t say only buy one piece of jewelry he told her to enjoy herself. Her eyes grazed over the jewelry
Well, it would have been rude not to enjoy herself.

If she had been drinking anything, it would have been spat everywhere. Luthor? A lover? She could only hope that no one from the papers was around. Holy shit. Was Ozzie really in love with this daft a dame? My god.
Blinking several times, Selina tried to form words. "I'm working with him, Lola. I'm not romantically involved." Shooting a look at the sales attendant, it said to shut up and not say a damn word of this to anyone, or he'd be fired.
"Oswald has nothing but impeccable taste. He's been a dear friend over the years." She added, unable to find other words to say. And then, another little peep out of the woman, and she was already looking at more jewelry. Damn.

Lola certainly didn’t know any better. In the tightly packed rich world she had come from that is just exactly what happened. Your heart had a lot to do with your bank account and if it wasn’t that way, well then there was something wrong with the woman. She obviously didn’t learn that there is a way to survive and there is a way to live, and love…She wanted to live. The comment she made was innocent and she paid no mind to the baffled look upon her face as she was far too focused on a pair of rupee earrings that caught her eye.
”I…see” She tapered off on that conversation not wanting to pry too deeply into it. Selina was certainly beautiful enough to not have to work so why was she doing it? She didn’t understand why some women insisted upon getting their nails dirty for another man when he should be paying to have hers cleaned at the finest salon. A working relationship was something that she’d have to accept from this conversation as suspicious to her as it was.
She smiled at the mention of her lover yet again. Now there was a man to do business with. Lola had learned a few interesting things about his trade but not nearly enough to fully grasp what it was. The main thing was he was important, rich and everyone knew him. Why would she need to dig any deeper than that until he wanted her to know? She already had his black card so it wasn’t as if he was hiding anything major from her. The conviction of what she was hiding from him slipped into her thoughts and caused her to roll her lip under her teeth.
Before it could cause any more damage she asked the clerk to pull the rupees out. ”I really am excited about this Gala your holding, this Lex…” She paused to make sure she got the relationship right.”Your business partner, must have extravagant taste as well. She finished just as the clerk put them on the display so she could gaze over the deep ruby red.

Selina wasn't impressed by the baubles she had picked to look at, and she waved them back to the clerk. "Mmm." Was all she mentioned to Ms. Marks. There was no reason to fuel a non-rumor. And she didn't want to divulge too much to a new acquaintance, either.
"He is quite well known in Metropolis. He could have partnered with with Wayne, or any other businessmen, but I won out, I guess!" She laughed, noting the rubies that Lola was looking over. "Those are quite pretty too, you know." The day was growing long, and while she wanted to stay and chitchat, she did have plans to get a few other things marked off her to-do list. "Dear, I must head off elsewhere. But be sure to bring Oswald and say hello at the Gala. You'll have to show me what you finally end up going with for jewels!" She added with a flourish and a smile.
