"That's what I kind of figured," Kara replied in response to Shayera's comment.
She wasn't sure just how Shayera would look on the group. Batman was a part of it. And from the sounds of it, he didn't want anyone in his city. But the Outsiders worked two ways.
In a way they could work for Batman in missions. And the other picking up on the small stuff that it seemed it would be hard for one vigilante to cover in a night. Then again, this was Batman. Though with the Outsiders around, it would be easier to get more information around and out of the town than before.
"I was kind of interested in asking if you'd care to join us? There is only four of use right now and the more we have on the missions field with talent the better. And the more experience, the better," Kara replied.
She put it out there. Asking for her team leaders without their permission. What were they going to do about? Sure there might be some arguing over it, but there had been talk of finding more to join.
"And he seems to be that type," Kara said.

The question causes a flicker of surprise to cross Shayera's face, and then she looks away with a slightly pained expression that shifts quickly into a thoughtful frown. Six months is a long time for some things and a short time for others, and though it still seems far more natural for her to be on a team than to work alone it's hard for her to be sure of herself taking that step again after what happened the last time she was on a team. Still, she's nothing if not one to challenge herself and she knows that there's no better way to conquer her demons than to face them head on.
So though her initial reaction probably looks quite negative on the surface at first - easily just as brooding as the man they were just discussing - when she finally looks back she says, "Well, naturally I can't say for sure without knowing all the details. But, generally speaking, I'm a free agent at the moment and I'd welcome being able to work with a group as long as it doesn't interfere with my previous commitments - though if you're operating out of Gotham then it's much more likely it would help me with that." As it turns out, she actually may be interested!
"But I'd especially want to know who the other three are, who is in charge - not you, I'm assuming - and the main objectives of the group. And I assume Batman approves of this?" she adds, though she doubts that question really needs to be asked. The sheer odds that a group could form in Gotham without Batman's approval for very long without getting shut down are not worth calculating. Still, it's best to have the basic questions covered.

"I wouldn't be able to tell you all the full details. The two guys seem to know the most about it all," Kara replied at first.
She relaxed a bit more. Knowing she had Shayera's interest a bit was helpful. This might mean a chance for another member.
"It's pretty business like. No one knows the others identities on the field or in the base. And yes, it does have the Bat approval of it. The leader is Arsenal. Nightwing close in foot on that for sure though. And Starfire is the only other member at the time besides me," she continued.
Looking at Shayera again, she was hoping that she did a half decent job at explaining the team. It wasn't something she was accustom to.
"The League knows nothing of the group. We take on some pretty high risk undercover missions. Some if not many are filed through from the Bat. Otherwise there are other case within and outside of Gotham that we take on. Gotham is out main base since it also helps to keep an eye on the building vigilante population that seems to be growing," she finished.

It's probably a very good thing that Supergirl can't read Shayera's mind right now, as she probably wouldn't find many of the thoughts in it very flattering while on the surface she simply seems to be thinking very carefully about it. She doesn't find any of the listed members of this group to be very impressive - they're all so young. In fact she's sure that if she joined them that she'd feel like a babysitter. But, then again, maybe what they need is a babysitter. She could probably help a lot, actually - she used to be an instructor back on Thanagar, after all, so it wouldn't be difficult for her to help them train if they're willing to apply themselves and there's so much that she could teach them.
No, the part that would be difficult is that Arsenal is the leader. Not because she has any objections to the kid, but again he's so very young. She's used to letting others call the shots, even if she's know to gripe about it frequently, but it's difficult to do for very long when you haven't built up a level of trust and respect with the person you're supposed to be listening to. Not that she has any desire at all to be the leader of such a group herself, but she doesn't know how she feels about it being a kid.
Still, perhaps it's worth a shot - if she can tolerate it at all then it would be a good thing for everyone. "I'm not exactly good at undercover, at least if that means pretending to be someone else - the wings are a dead giveaway," she comments, as it's not like she can just hide them, "Though if you need me to do that, there are other ways..." And so many of them! That's exactly the sort of thing she used to teach back on Thanagar, actually... "But it may be that my skills are best used in other ways..." she adds, thinking out loud. Smiling, she comments, "I think that I need to have a chat with 'the two guys'." If they're the ones who know more and are more in charge then they're the ones who can answer the five thousand questions now swirling around in her head.

"That's no problem at all. We have several on the team that know the ropes in those fields. We'd more than likely send someone like Nightwing or Arsenal. They are the only two with no powers, just skill," Kara said.
This was part of Kara's boldness. She wasn't exactly afraid to speak her mind on what she though of people or to the extend of what she saw of them.
"The teams stealth levels are rather impressive when combined in the right direction during the missions. Though I don't mind taking down a wall or two to just get on with it," she said. What's that like a super? Not that that was something Kal would do all the time, but it was the easiest way to get to the point.
Kara smiled at Shayera repeating her earlier phrase about the two leading the team. "Perhaps that would be best. I just joined in, but at least I see more action on this team than I did as a rookie on the League," she replied. Not overly joyed at the fact she had been in training and was still on the bench on a lot of the missions the higher ups in the League took.
She may be just a teen. But she has as much strength as Superman, maybe even more so in some levels. After all she knew more of their home planet than Kal did. And she certainly seemed to gain her powers rather quickly when she came to earth. The control over some took a bit.
Though it was more than system shock when you are on a strange planet and our powers just started acting up and taking effect. Though the same could be said for one of Batman's computers during the time of her discovery. She more or less fried it and melted its circuits. Not a quick or easy fix, even for Batman.
"You can stop in at any time that suits you. I can give you the location, of course traveling at night would be best," she smiled. She knew Shayera would know that already to keep the place a secret.

"Well, I may not be known for my stealth, but that doesn't mean that I'm not capable of it," Shayera comments with a smile, "And so long as the walls aren't load-bearing, why not?" She may not be a Super, but she has the strength to knock down walls herself. Well, depending on what they're made of, anyway...
She's very careful to nod but say nothing when Supergirl mentions the amount of action that she'd gotten while she was a part of the Justice League. After all, she'd been a senior member of the league at the time and had therefore been a party to such decisions. And as a person with well over thirty years of fighting experience, not even including many years of training before that, she has some extremely strong opinions about just how much experience someone needs under their belt before they can be trusted with harder tasks. And as a person born and raised to be in one of the galaxy's most elite militaries, she has some very strong opinions about the signs that someone has enough discipline to keep themselves under control in delicate situations - and for a Super, any situation is a delicate situation. And as a person who wishes to be completely certain that she'll leave this conversation on good terms with the person she's talking to, she knows better than to even consider telling Supergirl what her take on that entire situation is...
But there is something much, much more important than strength, speed, or any other such gifts: control. Or 'finesse' might be an even better word for it. It's one thing to have great power and another to be both capable and disciplined enough to use it wisely.
"If you could, that would save me a bit of time," she comments with a smile. Because especially now that she knows who is on the team she doesn't doubt that she could find it herself. But that would be an unnecessarily wasteful use of her time when she can simply ask. "And I hate night flying, but I'll manage," she adds with a smirk. And yes, that she knows to keep it secret is so obvious that it doesn't even need to be said.

"The more skill the better as Arsenal likes to say," Kara replied with a smile.
As she had quoted one of her friends from the team. She had gotten rather close to Arsenal. He was easy to talk to and a bit more understand towards her it seemed. Understanding a bit where she came from maybe to say the least. He was almost like a brother in ways on the team.
"Will do. And I agree some what about the night flights. I'm not like these stealthy vigilantes who operate at night. It's a lot easier to work during the day," she replied.
She was a lot like Kal in that way. The supers like to work during the day.

"I'm not like these 'stealthy vigilantes' either. I'm firmly of the belief that working during the day, and all that that implies, is not easier so much as it's more effective in the long run," Shayera comments, referring to the whole vigilantism verses law-abiding hero debate. Which is one of those few topics that all those fighting for justice can passionately disagree on. "But I won't stand here and say that all the night shift's methods are wrong all the time - in fact I've fallen back into their tactics when I've had to a few times myself - I just think it's to be avoided," she clarifies.
"But much more importantly, I personally don't think that it's any of my business to show up on a planet that's alien to me and tell anyone how they should do things, so I leave the debating up to the others," she adds with a shrug. So, basically, though her personal opinion puts her on one side of the debate, she's not going to go getting all upset at the vigilantes if they want to do what they do. She'll leave it to the humans to figure out the correct morality for humans.
Realizing that she's run off on a slight tangent, she brings herself back by stating, "In any event - tell me where I can find you and I'll show up there soon. I have something I need to take care of first, but it shouldn't be long." Well, unless she's being a bit arrogant in thinking that she can lay down the law with Batman without too much trouble - but she doesn't think that she is.

"It's all foreign to me until I read or learn more from these humans. But it is still all strange to me at time," Kara said.
"I understand what you are saying. But for them to try and force some of us to be like them is rather hostile. I mean being Superman's cousin isn't easy. Every expects you to follow the rules as he does," Kara replied. A little of track, but on the same path in ways.
And she wasn't wrong. Of course they don't want to cause more problems with the humans. But this was part of her feelings towards the humans as well. She had to hide who she was, just to protect herself and fit in. That and Kal wants her to have a normal life.
"I'll stick to my own work. The Outsiders are away from me to at least get involved and more experience. But it's nothing like watching over a city on your own," she said. "Not to mention when protecting the earth at times."
At the last part of Shayera's words, she understood. "Yeah, that's fine. Meet me at Gotham dock's out by the warehouse and shipping yards around 1am. I'll lead you the rest of the way. And I'm sure Arsenal should be around," Kara replied.

"Hmm, I've been on this planet for over five years and it's still very strange to me. But you're very young - perhaps that means you'll adapt to it faster," Shayera comments with a slight smile. Five years is, after all, not that much time out of the total of her life. "But I see no reason not to follow the rules here. After all, they always have a reason for the rules and to ignore them is to claim that you know better than whoever came up with them. Which may be true sometimes, but to claim that too quickly is the height of arrogance - especially for someone who still learning the ways of a new culture," she states seriously, "Besides, when a rule is truly bad the best way to get it changed is to follow it so that everyone can see the consequences of it for themselves."
But she isn't really here to lecture, which is why she carefully words things as they apply to herself - even if that carries with it the heavy implication that it also applies to Kara since she too is an alien to this planet and a more recent arrival at that. And for that reason, she figures that Kara will have something to say to that, so she's quick to add, "But perhaps it's better if we talked about this later - I have other things that should be doing before sunset if Clark isn't going to make an appearance." Assuming that either of them want to continue the conversation - they could just as easily not bring it up again.
When Supergirl explains where the Outsiders are located, Shayera nods slowly. "1am. I should make it," she states. That will be a rather late hour for her, given that she was up late the night before and was up with the sun this morning, but then again her rampant insomnia is likely to kick in and keep her up at that hour anyway. She'll just have to catch up on as much sleep as she can after she talks to Batman.

Kara crossed her arms at first over the lecture that had formed of the conversation. At least this was more to her level. Not in a dumbing down way. More as in an understand.
Kal understood, but he was older and had grown up on this planet. It was easy for him to say what he did.
Though Kara could find similarities in what Shayera was trying to relate to.
"Yeah, sure. No problem," Kara replied.
She uncrossed her arms. She really wasn't annoyed. It was just your typical teen attitude to being lectured over matters.
At the last bit. Kara gave a bit of a smile. "Sounds good! I'll give Arsenal the heads up of the meeting," she said.

What Kara seems to fail to understand, probably because of her age, is that while there's a time and a place to ignore the rules, there is also a time and a place to blindly follow rules that make absolutely no sense to you - and the latter is far more common than the former. But that's something that Shayera, being her age, is all too familiar with.
And she, having been a teacher before, knows how to explain the logic of such things without resorting to 'because I know better than you and I said so' - at least when she's in a good enough mood to actually be trying. Still, the way that Kara reacts - like a teenager - is only to be expected so it hardly bothers Shayera. Let the girl be defensive about it, because either she'll decide that perhaps the grown adult is right or she'll learn it the hard way. Either way, all that Shayera can do is offer her wisdom and hope that it's accepted, even if it takes awhile.
Smiling and nodding, Shayera's wings start to spread as she says, "Perfect! I'll see you then!" And with that, she takes off, turning and heading quite quickly toward Gotham - there's a Bat that she needs to have a word with, and the sooner the better.
