Selina looks up, and nods. "Like prom, but fancier. Tuxes, calf-to floor length skirts, all that sort. This event will have a dinner, drinking, appetizers, a bit of a presentation, an auction, donated items." She rolls her eyes at it, a woman near them gasping, and murmuring 'Metropham' and 'Lex Luthor' to her friend as they glance toward Charlotte and Selina.
Hopefully her words are encouraging as she offers the girl a bottle of water as well before she goes and picks out her things, time seeming to pass at a decent clip before Charlotte is ready, and Selina offers to take some of the items with them; her arms are full of shoes, and gowns.
"Well, let's go! You lead the way. Back and to the left." She guides with a gentle smile. It's not hard to find the very spacious dressing rooms, each room quite large inside, with several mirrors, and benches to place things, as well as sit. There are numerous hooks as well to hang the garments on the inside walls.

Between the bulk of the dresses and shoe boxes, it takes a few moments for Charlotte to get herself situated and the extra large dressing rooms are helpful for that. But though she's weary of trying on clothes, at least these are somewhat funner than the rest was. But when she comes out with the first dress on, she's making a face and says, " I don't think this is the right color for me." Which she's quite right about. The dress she's wearing, a smooth sheath style design, is quite flattering on her. Except that its rosy lavender color happens to be just the right shade to make her skin look gray and sickly. So she's quick to retreat back into the dressing room in hopes one of the others is better. The champagne hue of the second dress is certainly better against her skin, and Charlotte comes out with a slight smile. Though when she stands and turns for Selina in front of the mirror she shrugs and says, " It's nice..." Though perhaps a little on the plain side? It's good enough for a prom, she thinks but Selina said it should be better than for prom and she's not so sure about that. She likes the light gold peep-toe platform heels with transparent soles that she's paired with it, though. Definitely something for the 'maybe' pile. The third is a black, strapless, floor-length trumpet dress that she has to hold up when she walks out since the bodice is more than a little bit loose. Though she's making a slight face at that, the dress is delicately embroidered and would probably be quite pretty on her if it fit better. However, when the seamstress is summoned to be asked if it can be taken in, she fusses with it for several moments before shaking her head and explaining that in order to take it in as much as Charlotte would need it would lose much of the aesthetic - and while she doesn't outright refuse to do it there's the strongly implied opinion that they should find another dress. Which Charlotte is quick to agree with, especially since the hard-to-alter part is in the hips and butt area, and hers just aren't big enough to fill out the dress there, and she doesn't want to continue discussing the size of that part of her anatomy. Besides, after the second dress she's confident in rejecting this one since she has an option available even if the rest flop. And flop the fourth one does - it may be red, but the floor length ballgown has too many awkward angles in the sleeves and bodice for anything to save it. Shrugging at the mirror, Charlotte justifies having brought it into the dressing room in the first place by saying, " Well, it looked better on the hangar." She doesn't linger long before she's back in the dressing room, hoping that her final option works out better. Though she wasn't certain about all the gold sequins when she picked it out as a possibility, once she has the last dress on she comes out of the dressing room with a much bigger smile on her face. Even if the shoes she decided to try pairing with it are a little awkward - they're similar to the ones she wore with the second dress, but a bit of a darker gold and higher - and they're kind of pushing the limit of what she can walk in. In fact, if she keeps these she'll probably have to practice walking in the things a bit. But she's easily distracted by that concern as she admires the layered tulle in the mirror - yep, this is probably more of a keeper. She looks over at Selina for her opinion.

Glancing at a few of the dresses; she's glad that Charlotte has a variety, but some are just -not- going to work. But part of settling into your own sense of style is the failure. Some things may look good on the rack, but just don't sit right on the body, and sometimes, deviating from your norms, open your eyes a bit. So while Charlotte hands the dresses, Selina busies herself with opening the tops off several of the boxes of shoes and lining them up, so they are able to see their choices, and match them with the dresses. Two of the boxes catch her eye; a pair of black, classic pumps with a bit of sparkle, and a pair of nude platformed heels. Some of the prettier, yet safer options considering she has a hunch Charlotte really...hasn't worn heels often.
While Charlotte changes into the first dress, it's a pity, because while the fit is gorgeous, it's the color. Wrinkling her nose, Selina nods. "I agree. Great cut, but the color just washes you out." She adds, making note of the cut. "But don't forget the shape, that cut really does work for you..." She murmurs.
The second dress is much better, and Selina twirls her finger, motioning for the teen to spin around. "Put that one in the keep pile. It's not as formal for this event, but it's a really pretty thing to own." Taking note of the shoes, she's ok with them, but not a huge fan of the clear base. Just a teeny bit 'stripper' ish.
The next dress...was a good try. Even with the seamstress, it's a bit of a lost cause. Strapless gowns can be altered, but this one just...doesn't fit. They could have taken it in drastically, and added cap sleeves to it, but they could just purchase a different frock for the amount of work going into this one. So while Charlotte takes charge of the situation, Selina trusts in her judgement on it, and waits for the next gown to appear. It's a red, and while it's a gorgeous color, it's the angles that influence her decision. "Sometimes that happens. But I'm glad you went for something different. When I'm shopping, I have my go-to style, but I always try to pick out at least one thing that is...not something I'd normally wear. That is how I've found some of my favorite pieces."
Once the teen goes and tries on a new dress, Selina sips at her water, aain taking note of what works, and what doesn't, so far. It's the next dress that she's glad in that...just works. It's delicate, dark, sheer, and in a fitted top, with a billowy skirt, almost like a ballerina. Smiling, Selina notes the shoes could work, but might need a bit of practice in. Or a shorter heel. Motioning for her to twirl, Selina nods in appreciation.
"Now this is something. Go look in the mirror." With the heels, she's taller, but not quite as tall as Selina. "Gorgeous dress. Formal, but still fun. I have some gold and diamond studs you could wear. Maybe a bracelet or two. But with that neckline, a necklace is out. But this-" Gently pulling out the ponytail, Selina gathers Charlotte's newly cut and colored hair and pulls it away from her face; and up. "We can find you a headband that will tie in with your dress, and it would be perfect," she adds quietly.
Hoping that the hair, makeup, and dress give the girl a bit of confidence, Selina offers a genuine smile. "We might need a different pair of shoes. The event will be longer than 3 hours..." She adds as an afterthought. "But what do you think? Move in a bit; walk, sit, stretch your arms up. People forget that they do more than just stand in front of a mirror at times when buying things..." Ultimately it's Charlotte's choice, but the dress really does look fantastic on her.

Fortunately, while it may be harder for someone who isn't used to wearing a particular type of clothing to know what will and won't work based on how it looks on the hangar, Charlotte knows this going in and doesn't beat herself up about the ones that don't work. And that's part of the reason why she grabbed dresses that were so different from each other - she figured that the odds of success were higher that way, or that she'd at least get a clearer picture of which direction to go if none of them were quite right.
So she's pleased enough when the second one turns out to be okay, even if Selina confirms that they're going to want to try for something better. And when the fifth one is better than she'd been expecting, she's even more pleased. It kind of reminds her of a cheap little tutu set her mother gave her to dress up in many, many years ago - that had been such a happy time. Of course, this is not only much better but much more grown up than that - still, it accounts for why the dress just... gives her a good feeling.
As Selina starts talking about jewelry and such, Charlotte listens but doesn't comment - this would be, after all, the first dress of this caliber that she'd ever own so it's not like she'd know what she's doing with all the little details. So she'll leave all that to Selina's judgment, and she does like the idea of putting her hair up - it makes her neck look longer.
Though when Selina starts commenting on the shoes, her lips purse a little as she glances down at her feet. "They're more comfy than they look," she comments, "But they feel kinda like... stilts or something." And between the platform and the rise of the heel they completely change her gait in a way that she's really not that familiar with. They probably have a good inch on any pair of shoes she's ever owned before, yet she comments, "But the skirt is kind of long in the back." Which is why she chose to wear them now - they were the highest of the shoes that she'd picked out, and only just high enough to keep the skirt off the ground as she moves. This is why being 5'3" sucks and she's hoping against hope to have another growth spurt even though most girls don't grow much after 16. Some do though - can she be one, please? Even an inch would be good.
But, following Selina's advice, she steps away from the mirror and tries walking around a bit more. Though aside from the possible shoe problem she really does like the dress - every time she pauses in her walking she's either looking at the mirror or idly messing with the skirt. It makes her feel pretty. "I think I really like it," she finally states, "And I think I can get used to the shoes - unless you think that there's better ones." But she sounds doubtful about that last part - she did, after all, look through them and is willing to bet that the others that are high enough and would actually look decent with the dress would be harder on her than these ones. At least these aren't stilettos.

It's a hard question, the shoes. If Charlotte can tolerate them, than that is good. But perhaps a sleeker black heel may be good. Tapping her finger on her lower lip after she nods, and lets Charlotte's hair down, she contemplates. "Well, considering we are going about building your wardrobe, how about we go with both the dresses, and those shoes. A good neutral shoe is fantastic, and if it's comfortable, all the better. Hopefully we can find you a pair of black pumps, too. But the height is good on those, especially considering the hemline. Hm." It's always the conundrum with dressing, what to take, what to leave, what to alter. Sometimes there are too many choices.
Thankfully, Selina has a bit of height, and doesn't have to wear skyscraper heels. But as she rotates her finger to see Charlotte's silloutte in the dress once more, she resigns to the fact that if they altered the hem of that dress, it would ruin it.
"It looks like we may be breaking in your shoes!" Selina muses, a smile cracking through her thoughtful facade. "Even though you looked fantastic in that red dress. Couple that, with the shape of that strapless...but in something that fits, and you'd have another fun dress." And while three is a good place to start for the fancier wear, she'd love to see Charlotte find something in that cheery red color; it's hue is more fresh, than in your face loud, in some sort of sundress, or something a bit less formal.
"Shoes we can always look at. I think we could find you a pair of Manolos. Hm. You've got me thinking, now! Are there any other dresses you saw? I can go grab them, or there is another place that has dresses that are a bit less formal, too. I'd never want to go around day-to-day in something this caliber every day." For as much as she has the money, sometimes jeans and a hoodie, or even leggings and a cozy over-sized sweatshirt call to her more than the heels, blouses, and other things she's 'expected' to wear.
As the two start a tentative dialogue about shoes, and fancy ballgowns, of all things, Selina feels a bit of a weight lift off her shoulder. There was a rhyme and reason to the order in which they did these things. Trying on a fancy dress like this..wouldn't be the same without the subtle highlights in Charlotte's thick hair, nor the slight pampering and refining. If anything, it would have alienated the teen moreso. Instead, it was small increments of change, book-ended between moments of familiarity.
If the dresses and shoes are it, and Charlotte doesn't want her to grab anything else, or try on anything, they're off to pay for the gowns, and then to get her a few new electronic toys.

As Selina seems to think out loud about dresses and shoes, Charlotte nods but ducks into the dressing room to change back since she doesn't see how looking at it any longer is helpful - if anything, it increases the odds that she'll accidentally damage it before the Gala. And even the little bit of walking around she's been able to do here seems to be helping her with the heels... she thinks. Yeah, just needs some practice. So she's all for just taking what they've found rather than scouring around for more.
When she comes back out in her normal attire, she's frowning to herself at Selina's question and comments, "Not really - I pretty much grabbed all the ones I saw that I thought I'd really like." And if you ask her, that was actually a pretty good average of successes. Besides, just how many dresses that are this fancy does she need? Having two now means that she's already tied the number she suspected she might ever get, up until now.
Though as Selina says that they could go look at another place for less formal ones, the weary look comes back into her eyes as she hopefully asks, "Maybe another day?" Because while finding more dresses actually sounds funner than a lot of other things they could go buy, she wanted to be done with all of this shopping two stores ago. No, scratch that - she recalls not wanting to do any of this to begin with. And they've found the really needed dress so getting more can wait, can't it? In any event, she's ready to be done here.

Raising a brow, Selina nods. "Well, you have fantastic taste, and an eye for good quality, hon. Let's go pay for this, then get you a phone. I believe that is our final stop for today before we head home. Unless you can think of anything else you need that I haven't thought of?" Considering the look on the teen's face, Selina decides that school things can wait. They're pretty generic, as far as she understands, and vary for each school..which they haven't decided on yet, either. So that can wait. Helping to gather the dresses and shoes, Selina nods to the other question. "The other dress store can wait for now."
It's while they are in line, and Selina hands over the dresses that her phone rings. Answering it, she nods, handing the cellphone over to Charlotte. "It's Liv. She has a few questions for you." Her assistant is already home, and is on, well, the receiving end of their purchases. As soon as Charlotte is on the line, she will ask her what to do with her clothing, bedding and so forth. Does she want her to at least hang her clothing, or would she rather wait until she gets home to do it herself? Can she help with anything? Once an answer is received, Liv will politely end the call, and go about as instructed. Raising her brow, Selina is mildly curious, but trusts her assistant, so lets the call go, unless she is needed.
Card handed over, they're on their way to the next store, this one three stores down from where they are, and all sleek metal and glass. Inside, Selina seems to light up at the electronics as if she's a wee child in a candy store. "So. Cellphones. And a laptop. I have an idea of what I'd prefer you to get, but how about we look, first? Cases, colors, you can customize all that. It's hardware and tech I'm concerned about." She shrugs, a pink coming to her cheeks. "Security company and all, it's always lingering in the back of my mind. But here, this is my cell, for a benchmark." Handing over the small grey device, it's not unlike most smartphones out there; not as large as a phablet, but not as tiny as a flip phone. Considering she usually has a nearly non-existantly visible earpiece in, she is then able to fuss with the different features on her phone; mostly documents, her schedule, when she needs to work.
But what Charlotte doesn't know is that essentially two lines come to the same phone, and it's layered, in a way, with it's tech. Not that she doesn't like how detailed it is; she just can't have most people knowing that she's getting calls from Gotham's most wanted, and well, Gotham's most wanted Vigilantes, as well.

The compliment causes Charlotte to shrug. Is it that big of a deal to know what is crap and what isn't? Well, it isn't really that so many of the dresses she saw were crap, it's just that she liked some of them a lot better than the others. Everyone has their preferences and all that. "No," she replies, especially since she's not about to try too hard to think of more things to buy at this point and isn't sure that she'd tell Selina even if she did. She nods and there's a slight look of relief around her face when Selina says that the other dresses can wait.
When Selina hands over her cellphone, saying that it's Liv with some questions, at first Charlotte looks a bit wary. But, hearing the questions, she shifts to looking more uncomfortable than worried. "Um... yeah... It would be helpful if it was hung up. I mean... if you want to just... sort stuff, guess where I want it - that would help a lot. You can leave anything to me that you want to, though. It'll probably be awhile before I'm done tweaking where things go either way," she answers, her discomfort easing a bit by the time she's finished though not leaving entirely. She's not at all bothered by the idea of Liv touching her things, if only because they're new things and she's not really ready to think of them as hers yet anyhow. No, the discomfort is because of the reminder of just how many of those things there are and, while having someone do things for her isn't a foreign concept, having someone ask if she wants it done in the first place and how she wants it kind of is.
And where are the boundaries to telling her, um, guardian's personal assistant what to do anyway? Well, she remembers that Selina said the Liv isn't the maid, but that only clarifies things so much. It's just not a relationship that she's quickly comfortable with - hence why her directions to Liv are so vague and open-ended: so that Liv herself can decide where to draw the line. She figures that Liv is the one better equipped to decide what is and isn't a part of her job description, at least until she understands it better, and she figures that anyone Selina keeps around wouldn't terribly screw up the task.
When the call is over, Charlotte settles her nerves by reminding herself that Selina said that the last stop will be the next one - the end is definitely in sight now. Though, unlike Selina, Charlotte greets this new store by looking just a little bit lost. "Well, I don't really know anything about hardware and tech anyway..." she admits. Oh, she along with everyone knows the basics of how you operate such things, but the second you start talking about things like processing speed such, she is officially lost.
Still, she has some opinions on what she wants, even if they're very general. Taking Selina's cellphone again, she idly pokes at it, idly flipping through the main screens without opening anything. "I've never had a smartphone before, but I like them," she comments. Though her reason for wanting one seems to be different than Selina's, if the fact that she's mostly seeing documents and schedule stuff is any indication. Where are the mindless games and the music? Or maybe she just can't find the right section for that - like she said, she's never had a smartphone, so that's a real possibility too.

Charlotte's stammered words are received by Liv with a smile. She is educated enough to understand the directions of 'help, but I don't want to be bossy, but I am going to be getting quite a bit of things, so I want to do some of it, but not all, so yeah.'
Taking her own phone, Selina flips it over in her hands a few times before they start walking in any general direction. "Hm. How about we get something in a fun color; or at least a few cases so you can swap things around, with a touchscreen, app capabilities, and a decent set of headphones. Do you prefer earbuds, or the standard headphone kind?" Wandering off in a direction to their left, Selina points out a rather slim phone; android, of course, that seems to be able to fit what a teen would prefer. "You shouldn't need anything as lame as a document and communication heavy device as I use, but some apps are nice for dictating papers to, and I know some textbooks are available in e-format, or whatever it's called..." she trails, handing Charlotte one of the phones.
"Maybe this one? Once we nail down a phone, then the accessories will fall into place." And then a laptop will be easier to find compatibility for. And down the rabbit-hole they will go.

"Yeah, that sounds good!" Charlotte comments, glancing idly around herself as she follows Selina. As far as she's concerned, they're in a maze of items that all look pretty much identical to her, even though they're apparently not, and with it comes the uncomfortable feeling that she can't be sure that she's not going to make a decision she'll greatly regret later. Still, Selina sounds confident, and that's kind of reassuring. "Um, ear-buds - more portable," she answers, glad that there's at least one decision she can make in this store that she can be sure of.
Which is the exact opposite feeling that she gets when Selina hands her a particular phone and asks about it. She examines it for a moment, then glances up at the nearby phones, then shrugs as she says, "I really don't know what the difference is. And I think it would take, like, an hour for someone to explain it well enough for me to really care." She's sure that somewhere some phone designer would cringe to hear someone say something like that, but that's the truth of the matter. But that having been said, she nods as she adds, "If you think it's a good one for me, it's probably fine." It does seem to be a good one from the one criteria she has somewhat of an opinion on: the thinner the phone, the easier it is to stuff it into your pocket.

Selina nods, realizing that explaining the non-essential functions right now would probably be best saved for later, if not to just let Charlotte figure things out herself on it. Waving over a sales associate, Selina points to a few isles down, telling Charlotte; "How about you go pick out a pair of earbuds. and a headset if you want one, too." Once the associate gets there, Selina goes through what sort of memory, and so forth she wants on it; and makes sure it has all the latest game options, as well as music applications, too. While the box is picked out, and the phone enabled, Selina sends a text, making sure that all the additional firmware she needs will be at her house, especially after she's sent the model number to the recipient.
Meandering around, she finally spots Charlotte, and crooks a finger to lead her to where the laptops are. "What do you think of this one?" Is her question as she points to a silver computer. "I noticed there were red and floral cases for both the cellphone, and laptop, too. Sorta similar to what you picked for your bedspread?" Selina offers a smile, but allows the teen to offer up her final yea or nay on the subject. After that, it's the standard routine of going and paying, and then Selina takes both boxes in the proffered bag as they go to leave.
"Want to venture a guess as to where we are headed next?" Selina offers, with a slight smirk on her face.

The somewhat lost look that Charlotte's been sporting disappears at that request - earbuds she can totally handle! "Okay," she says as she wanders over to the appropriate aisle. And it doesn't take her too long to find a pair that meet her needs: white is not an ugly color and the cord is longer and thicker than average - probably harder to damage than your average set. Based on the box, they're meant for very active people. Not that she's that hard on earbuds, but it always sucks when they break so she'd rather get a pair that delay in doing that for as long as possible. She's not going to bother with a headset though - she'd probably never think to use it.
Spotting Selina trying to get her attention, she heads over to where she's looking at... ugh, laptops. She has the same problem with those as cellphones - apparently there's a difference, but she sure doesn't know what it is. This time she merely shrugs when Selina asks what she thinks, silently indicating that she doesn't really have much of an opinion. "Does it have internet?" she jokes. Though as Selina mentions cases, she says, "Like my bedspread? That would be cool!" How it looks is something that she does have an opinion on - and she likes the idea of not toting around generic-looking electronic things.
After the whole paying procedure is over, she's glad that there's another store off the list. Though when Selina asks what's next, she finds that she can't remember what else they may need to get. "Home?" she asks hopefully, because that's what she wants to do either way. She's just thoroughly tired out in more ways than one. In fact she finds herself almost wishing that Selina had simply done all this without her like both foster families did. Almost.

Winking at the girl, they both wait near the curb for a cab. "Bingo. I'm sick of shopping. Usually, I have a different route of going about it, but I would hate for someone else to pick everything I have to wear. So for now, home. A change of comfy clothing, coffee, and something to eat is in order. Then, doing whatever you want with your stuff. Liv said she was able to hang some of it, but she didn't want to muss all of it up. Your stuff, you do with it what you will."
So as a yellow car drives up to them, Selina pops open the door, and ushers Charlotte in, sliding in behind her with a slight yawn. The day's events were successful, and while it feels a lot later than 4:30, they did get quite a bit done. The rest? Well, it can be done at a few shops, instead of all of them. They have more important things to do right now.
So as their carriage takes them home, Selina closes her eyes, only opening them in case Charlotte pipes up with anything, and to the sound of the car stopping. Handing over their fare, she lets Charlotte walk before her, seeing how she does with the doorman, and the elevator, smiling when the teen remembers, and even fits the right key to the door. Liv greets them; her already having started something simmering for dinner. Kicking off her shoes, Selina makes her way through the living room to the hall where the bedrooms split off. Calling out to Charlotte, Selina hovers in her doorway. "If you can start us some hot chocolate; mine with two shots of espresso, I'll be in my room changing. If you need any help with your room, let me know!" She hopes it's helpful, as a good chuck of her is clearly in territory she's never charted prior. Contemplating if she's doing things ok will have to wait for later.
So while she gently sets down the laptop and phone bags on her bed, she starts up her own computer, and sets her phone down to charge as well. Her prior purchases are set on her lounger, the boxes and bags neatly stacked. Knowing Liv, Charlotte's room will have a newly made bed, with boxes and bags and other errata nicely on her bed. The bathroom that is hers will also have towels, rugs, and a new shower curtain in place. The shampoo and everything else is still packaged, awaiting Charlotte's direction. After all, some people prefer their toothbrush to be in one spot, and the other toiletries in other areas. Selina sure does.
So while she ditches her first outfit for a pair of leggings and a soft mohair hooded lounge top, she clicks on her headset and fits a small chip into the new smartphone for Charlotte, working on that, as she sits poised in the bathroom on the tub's edge, shifting to pace the length of her own room before finding herself futzing with the cellphone and in the living room, curled on a chair, setting it up for the teen, and chatting away on her earpiece.

A look of relief crosses Charlotte's face as her guess is confirmed. If Selina is only now sick of shopping, she has way more shopping stamina than Charlotte does. Way more. "Okay," she replies, trying but failing to keep the relief out of her voice at least.
On the ride home she's characteristically quiet and idly watches the city passing by the window without really looking at it. Did they really walk that far while going from shop to shop? Her feet say that she walked further, but she figured more of that happened actually inside the shops. When she sees the part outside of her window and the cab stops, she knows that they've arrived. Nodding politely to the doorman, she does kind of hesitate in the lobby as if expecting Selina to lead the rest of the way, though when she doesn't she frowns a little and finds herself instead being the one to lead the way to the elevators and then up and into the room. And no, remembering the way wasn't hard - it's the only way she's been in this building so it's the only way she knows. Or at least that's the way it works in her mind.
When they get inside, the smile that she gives Liv is small and a little awkward, but friendly. She starts heading for her room, though she catches what Selina says and replies with, "Okay!" She'll just drop off her bag in her room and take care of that first. But she isn't quite prepared for what she sees when she looks into her room. A strange feeling washes over her, as if she simply can't think anymore. And she feels weird, like her heart stopped or she can't breathe, or... no, actually, what she more feels is like her head is swimming and disconnected from the rest of her. She finds herself having to lean against the doorframe to avoid falling over and then... uh-oh, she thinks she's going to be sick. Pushing herself away from her room, she darts into her bathroom and... okay, now she knows that she's going to be sick. Fortunately, she manages to make it to the toilet before she loses what was left of lunch in her stomach. Ugh!
After that she finds herself breathing shallowly, but better, as she sits on the floor next to the toilet. And she doesn't think she's going to be sick again. But she feels kind of shaky and light-headed and... "Selina? Liv?" she finds herself calling out, her voice just as shaky as she feels. She doesn't really know what's going on with herself, is kind of concerned, and wants to be sure that someone else knows about it.

For being as absorbed as she is with the new phone, and her own phone, tweaking both this way and that, her senses aren't as obtuse as one would think. Hearing emulated much like a feline's, Selina did hear slight thud of someone against wood, and then the hastened footsteps to the bathroom.
While her home isn't huge, it's no slight thing either as she locks eyes with Liv as she passes the kitchen, an unspoken understanding flicking between two sets of eyes as Selina seeks out the linen closet, two things pulled from it with ease, before she's then at the bathroom door, Charlotte's cried out words echoing in her mind.
Falling to her knees beside the girl, she holds out a small towel, first, before gently draping the blanket around the girl. At least her instincts served her properly for once; the teen is shaking, no doubt from shock. But deep in her mind, in that deep, dark corner, part of her is offering up that other side. One of wariness, of questioning her every move. What if she just wants to be left alone? What if this is nothing but bad decision after poor choice, after bad choice? What about exposure? Not everything that happened to you is going to be the same for someone else?
In the short time it takes her to tuck the blanket around the girl, she feels another presence at the door, and turns to her friend, and assistant as a glass of water is handed to her, and then, turning, she hands it to Charlotte. "Here," Selina offers quietly, waiting until the teen drinks, or rinses her mouth out, or neither with the water, before speaking.
"I heard you call out," she starts, not knowing quite where to lead the conversation, the multitude of routes swimming in her mind. "It's a lot to take in," she chooses, her head slightly inclining toward Charlotte's room, filled with new things. "But you'll get there. And I'm here to support you, however you need it." Rather generic words, but Selina's heartfeltness is clear, her actions of being close without cloying, or coercion speaking more than bland platitudes.
