Dick manage to catch the wave in time. He paced himself before he laid his hands on the board and jumped up slightly to stand on it. Staying low to keep his balance, he was able to keep up with the rough wave.
He concentrated on his balance and the wave. He could then hear Kory's voice. There must have been something going on.
He glance back slight to see the board going under. That wasn't good. He turned back to pay attention to were he was headed.
Then only to hear her voice again and find her board above the water again. Only she seemed to be trying to hard to stay light on it now. He shifted his weight slightly to steer the board back in her direction.
He just kept to the basics. He was no pro when it came to surfing.
When he got close enough, he laugh a bit at how Kory was staying above the water now. The wave was starting to crash early. So when he got the chance he did a cannonball of the board into the water, just for the heck of it.

To the most part Kory had stealth, but well this was the first time surfing so she was learning just as much as she was going along with this. Least of all the sun was out. It was so warm and peaceful. Mostly. As the surfing time finally came. When Dick gave the signal. After following the paddling. The dreading through water. Then the attempt… The attempt to stand. It would have been more graceful if she didn't this her natural way, but evidentially this could become fun once she got it down packed. There that little smile when she did manage to stand. She hadn't fallen… Although it was mildly like a titanic moment, when the water began flowing over the sides. Drowning Kory's gold toes and feet. As Jack said about the diamond sinking Rose to the bottom, Kory didn't really need a ring for that to happen, then she could also prevent that. As with the mild panic in her voice. Her hands that naturally wavered, but oddly enough they helped, more than one would expect. Her heart thudded a little more on track as the water more or less subsided from the board. Of course not really paying attention she felt even lighter on the board...
"X'hal!"
Remarked as Dick's laugh echoed from the near distant and her eyes looked down. Thankfully her board hadn't gotten a mind of its own. Gently, Kory floated back down. Felt her toes spread over the board's surface, held her arms out in way that was similar to Dick… Right, follow Dick, he wouldn't fail her… Her gaze picked up and just as she was looking for the direction to follow, Dick had cannonballed. Great… Woah… Balance. Balance. Kory reminded herself as she felt the water behind begin to put pressure on the board and push it. Of course in the direction of the shore. It was at least in view. For a moment Kory believed she was surfing. Flowing with the water. Mildly feeling the spray of sea water. Though she then began to feel it turn. Perhaps bump… Least she felt like it got bumpy, the last thing she really recalled was slipping on the board and it skidded out from under her. Leaving the tamaranean vulnerable to the on coming crashing waves. Getting churned up by it in the process, perhaps had she been expecting it, she would have had more control. Instead felt the water pulling her in and over. Lungs decidedly filled with sea water. Golden hands did fight for the air. Of course being tossed around down below, one could forget which way up really was….
It least would seem like Kory was under for a while… A decent while. Thankfully, perhaps just luck she had been caught up in the flow of the waves. It tossed her body on to the shore. Falling half face down. Her eyes shut and her breathing shallow, if not truly struggling. A groan seeped from her throat, but perhaps right now she couldn't pin point where exactly she was. Feeling her mind swirly heavily. Sand stuck to her body and the sun from above struck warmly against her body. Hearing echoes. Just echoes and felt the tightness in her chest. The water that may have taken wrong pipes. Mostly she was on the shore, but the ocean water, still lapped around her legs. Her feet. Her hands clutched lifeless into the sandy beach
