Not that she was a hugely detailed professional on why Batman wore what he did, but she knew it wasn't because he was ugly. Bruce Wayne beneath the mask was something she'd never suggested. Not that she'd let Edward know. But Bruce was just another mask to the man that made up Batman. A man that was somewhere in between Bruce Wayne, fop, and Batman, gravelling, brooding, guardian of Gotham. Not that she needed to sit and contemplate that, while she was in the elevator with Eddie. Giggling as he made a mockery of the Dark Knight, she hid her twittering laugh behind her palm, another hand going to squeeze Eddie's bicep. "Edward...don't tease. I bet he wears it so no one figures out who he is, godawful as he may look, more than likely from getting into too many fights! And...you know, the other Villains fight dirty. A bit more brawn over brain. And I have my claws, too, you know."
Nodding in agreement, she closed the distance between them, a breathy, "I agree," before the door chimed their floor. Regretfully she exited, and felt the briefest of touches down her back, a shiver going down her spine. She'd been about to protest that she never begged for anything; be it her life, her freedom, or a bet, but he seamlessly segued the conversation into something different. The bastard.
Raising a brow as they walked side by side, she was curious. "I hadn't known you were in DC, Eddie. The Smithsonian, amazing. But which museum did you hit?" There were so many, and as it happened, he probably already knew the Museum of Natural History was her favorite, for reasons quite clear.
"That was mighty good of you to save such a glorious piece. And I've been so busy lately, I didn't even realize our own Museum had a new exhibit. Are you going to keep that a secret, too?" She teased him, linking her own arm within his. As they crossed through the doors held open for them, she could feel the cloying heat, his question playing in her mind. Walk, and grab a coffee on the way, but deal with the wicked weather, or drive...and possibly grab a coffee, enjoying the quicker route, and the comfort?
It was an easy answer, after the breakdown. "Do you mind if we drive, and then find some sort of sustenance with caffeine for me? I'd greatly appreciate it." She wasn't going to beg, but she did know how to phrase things close enough.

“You know I love to travel, dear,” he smirked as she linked his arm to his. He walked her to the black car waiting out front. “This town is so dreary and ways on ones soul if you let it encompass you for too long, yet strangely, like a man addicted to heroin, I always feel myself drawn back.” He opened the door to the car for her. “I stopped by a few museums, but I do always find myself pulled the National Gallery of Art. As suspected though, they are clogged with too many tourists who have no understanding for true appreciation of a piece.” When she was seated, he shut the door to the car and walked around to his side. He took a seat next to her and shut his own door. He told the driver of a nearby coffee shop before turning his eyes back to Selina.
“Secret? No, it’s a new Egyptian exhibit. It should be interesting. To be honest, I am more curious in seeing the new security system they laid out for its arrival,” he smirked, “As always, they say it is impenetrable.”
The coffee shop wasn’t far, and the car slowed to a stop. “Has anyone ever told you, you might have a caffeine problem, Selina?” he teased, “Or maybe you should consider going to bed earlier.” He opened his door and stepped out, walking around to open hers. Edward always considered himself a gentleman even if he held little respect for women.
“I must ask,” he said as she stepped out and they headed towards the coffee, “Because it still pestering me in the back of my mind.” He opened the door and let her walk ahead of him, but stayed right behind her back as they went into the line. It would be so easy to pull a gun out and press it to her spine without anyone being the wiser, but he didn’t. Instead he asked casually as if mentioning the weather, “Is there a reason why you are cozying yourself up to people who have desires to hurt me?”
“What would you like today ma’am?” the nerdy red head man asked from behind the counter.

"I believe dealing with the French at such an ungodly hour, would spurn anyone on to a stiff drink. And sadly, champagne is not 'appropriate' at this hour, Edward." She reached out to pat his cheek as they did the age-old dance of door open, slide in, door shut that men and women had been doing for ages. The short ride was wonderful as it stifled the soonly approaching oppressive heat that would infiltrate the city.
"Well, I'm glad you were able to pick something nice up in another city. Gotham's choices do get droll at times. And that would be my second choice, but the Hope Diamond and how they have that new display up, is just...yum." Smiling like her namesake, she exited the luxury vehicle with the welcome assurance of his offered hand, Selina had to smirk. "No, I don't think I have a problem with the substance, but a healthy working relationship with it. And going to bed early? I'm a hard-working businesswoman, you know. So sleep is a luxury I'm not always able to afford. And lately, I'd have to say my bed has been rather lacking in worthy company." Or any company, considering she wasn't seeing anyone. Well, she was seeing a few people, but none to the point of welcoming them into her home. Whatever.
Not even flinching as they filed into cue for beverages, she smiled, her hand going to his forearm again. "One moment, dear," turning to the man behind the counter, she didn't even bother to scan the menu. "Two double espressos, please." The strong drinks would leave allowance for any addition of adulterations; if need be. "Oh Edward. You know I've been curious lately. And I know you still would never believe me if I said I was investigating a case, now would you?" It wasn't that she wasn't close to Batman, but that was a moot point. Eddie, the dear he was, could try to argue it in any fashion, but there was always a response. "Unless someone new has caught your eye that I may not be aware of? Then by all means, please inform me. I'd rather not tangle with anyone who would be detrimental to either of us, or jeopardize what we have." The coffee was prepared with ease; considering it was straight espresso, that was no shock. Handing over a bill, she waved off any change whatsoever, and took the cups over to where she could pour a healthy dose of cream into her cup after a cursory taste.

Selina’s tongue had a talent of dancing around the answer, and his lip twitched in annoyance when he was dismissed for the substance of caffeine. He merely followed her almost like a lost dog seeking companionship, not something usually seen from someone like the Riddler. He went over to the side of the small counter as she poured cream, his eyes studying her expression to see if she was truly being dense or purposefully trying to pull information out of him.
His finger tapped on his cane almost impatiently. “Forgive me dear, but maybe I did not make myself clear. I know about your little visit to your acquaintance in the hospital as well as your recently new closeness to the man that has an obsession with flying rodents,” he stated, as his free hand reached into his pockets and pulled out one of his lollipops. He no longer needed them for pain, but they still had a way of calming his spouts of anger. He pulled off the wrapper, tossing it in the waste bin before bringing the green lollipop to his lips.
“Question, is Selina Kyle my friend?” he asked, pointing to her and then his heart, “Because if she is, I wouldn’t think she want to break my heart by throwing me to the wolves.”

Selina sipped her coffee, watching him. A small smile peeked from behind the paper cup, something she was unable to hide. "Nina is my friend, Edward. You should know this from our antics in China. And forgive me, but you have damn good taste in women, something that we seem to both have for companionship. So your girlfriend, well, ex-girlfriend, ended up being a good friend of mine. I can't even start to understand the depths of what happened, but if she had done something to you, I'd be right at your bedside, no questions asked. This is putting me in a hard position, you know. You're a good friend, and coworker, in a way. She's a good friend as well. I'm not trying to pick sides. I can't, in this case." And she honestly, really couldn't. A cat had no loyalties, other than to itself. And even in her life, she had strong preferences, but no true loyalties. She'd been burned before, and learned. "That would be like having to only do Sudoku, or Crosswords for the rest of my life."
After sipping her own coffee, it seemed he was not going to take his. So she poured one cup into the other, disposing of the empty.
"Edward. I don't think you could call it a new closeness. It's more a deeper frequency, I think would be proper terms. Him and I have always been close." As he popped the sucker between his lips, she drew close to him, an arm wrapping around his neck affectionately. She frowned slightly at him, as if hurt. "Edward Nigma, you say that as if it's the only thing I am to you. Don't hurt my heart." She murmured, plucking his lollipop from his mouth, and giving it a slow lick before returning it to him.
"By the way, I don't know of any wolves. And I know your heart is more of a riddle than that, Mister Nigma." Winking, she unwound herself from his body, and walked a few steps to the door. "Shall we?" She asked him over her shoulder.

Friend? She was friends with her? It made no sense. She thought Selina had humored him by spending time with her. He had never actually considered that she could be friends with her. After he came out of whatever romantic induced concussion that had caused his infatuation with that woman, he couldn’t understand why anyone would like her. She was unbelievably boring and constantly had this overwhelmingly self-righteous attitude that could put a fireman saving small toddlers from a burning building to shame. How could Selina, an elegant and intelligent woman, have any type of friendship with someone so bland? More importantly, how could she not choose his side!! He had known her longer and understood her more!
And more frequency certainly implied more interest. She couldn’t fool him with her words. After all, she was speaking to a master. He was about to respond, but his eyes widened mouth agape as she wrapped her arms around him again. The sweet left his mouth, and his eyes followed it, captivated as her tongue ran across it. He swallowed thickly. He needed to stop allowing her to catch him off guard like this. It made it difficult for him to even hear what she was saying.
As the lollipop returned to his mouth, he looked like a man who had just been stunned by a tazer, standing stiff in shock.
Once again, she was out of his grips and he was left in her dust. He didn’t come from his statue like gaze until she asked her question. His head seemed to snap out of it, and his body turned to follow hers. “Selina, don’t think you can merely wink your way out of this. You’re pretty, but that doesn’t mean that will work on me,” he said, as he followed her out of the door and into the heat. Before they reached the car, he grabbed her forearm and turned her to him.
His eyes locked onto her green ones. “If you want to be friends with her, I won’t prevent you, but I do hope you realize that she does plan to hurt me, and not hurt me in the few bruises sort of way. I know what she can do, and it will likely feel like having my bones repeatedly broken to the point that I might never want to move again. I understand this has nothing to do with you, and I will handle it when it comes, but I do hope you are not…’assisting’ her,” his words were firm, no playful jokes or witty remarks. He stated the facts, for while he could handle the woman’s spiteful revenge, he could not handle Selina betraying him.
His grip slowly loosened from her arm, as his free hand went to tilt her chin, bringing her lips close to his. “As for the rodent, I merely want to know if I’m wasting my time. Teasing and jokes aside, I am interested in you, which I’m certain is not first time you have heard those words, but I have no plans on pursuing something that is already lost.”

When did she not respond with a coy, witty, feline statement. Each time she spoke, she was utterly herself, Selina Kyle. So as he spun her face to face, she shifted to balance and not spill her paper cup of espresso. "Only pretty, Eddie? That hurts, you know." She let him know, her lips pressing into a thin line. She heard him out, but wasn't going to let him talk to her like that.
She paused, her gaze still locked to his. Nina was a good friend. "And"Don't think that I'm pulling anything, Edward. She is my friend, and I've been there to support her. If she wants to pursue going after you bodily, that's her perogotive, and not mine. I am here with you because you asked me to spend time with you, after being gone for quite a while. The fact of you sitting and here and questioning, and second-guessing my every breath is what is going to cost you something more than the possibility of a friendship. If that is the route you really want to head down, than by all means, go. But you should know by now that me, of all people, don't take sides. I. Never. Have. Nor, for some damn reason, am I going to start all of a sudden, either." you can't blame me for your good taste in women, now can you? That seems to be something that we share. Your ex-girlfiend ended up hitting it off with me, while you two were dating. I'm sorry, but in my situation, it's hard to find someone that actually understands all the nuances. I'm not her thug, nor her bodyguard. If you are that concerned, you take that up with her." Pursing her lips, Selina stepped back, only to have him close the distance.
"And trust me, if your bones do get broken, which is not Nina's style, at all, and more Batman," she spat the words rather disgustedly; "I will be there for you, just like I was with her as well." She was insulted. As he gently guided her eyes back to his face, she met him, shifting their bodies out of the line of traffic to the door. Using the tip of her tongue to moisten her lips, she took a moment before she responded to him. "I do believe that there has been a back and forth cycle with him that hasn't been broken yet. And if I hadn't wanted to spend time with you, I would have denied you at the door, even if you had brought chocolate, Edward. The rest, I have already answered for you." Her answers, and words were meant only for him, despite the throngs of people about them in motion. The fact that his mouth was a hairsbreadth from her own wasn't lost on her, either.

He could sense Selina’s anger. He had seen it on quite a few occasions, and it usually ended with him on his ass rubbing his sore face. Thankfully she wasn’t wearing her costume and there was no whip in sight, but that didn’t mean that she wasn’t any less dangerous. He listened to every word that left her lips, and as she continued, he began to feel foolish. He supposed it was fairly uncharacteristic for Selina to choose a side in any situation, but when he had watched the security footage of her crying…her -Selina Kyle- crying…his paranoia had gotten the best of him.
Would Selina cry at his bedside?
His expression loosened in thought. It seemed almost an impossible thing to conceive. Why would this woman ever care for him that way?
His eyes fell to her lips as he saw the quick appearance of her tongue. He wondered if this woman would ever hold the same type of interest for him as he felt for her. He knew Selina enjoyed his company. He knew Selina saw him as a friend, but did she see him in anyway more or was she purely humoring him? How could he not assume that she was only toying with him? She toyed with most, even though Edward knew he was far different from most men, he wondered if Selina’s eyes saw him that way. She was so many question that he could never answer.
“You’re right,” he said softly, “I’m letting my paranoia get the best of me.” He suddenly smiled, “I think you should understand that I only hope that I could be your first choice in all situations, but I suppose coming second to you is something I can live with.”
His thumb holding her chin moved up and ran across her bottom lip, not caring that they were on a public sidewalk and people kept moving past them into the coffee shop. “I’m not trying to make you cross with me. I have seen the answer to how that would end too many times,” he smirked and paused, almost uncertain how to say his next sentence. “I just…I would like to move from this friendship,” his hand slowly moved from her chin and along her cheek until it tangled in her hair, “and I suppose instead of plotting and planning and strategizing on how to go about it and who my competition is, I should just act,” he said, before capturing her lips with his own.

It wasn't that she was cross. She was just hurt. They'd gone about this little game befo and he was right. She did usually end up lashing out, and him shutting up, more than just his pride wounded. But it was true. Sometimes all he did was talk, and theorize, and there was too little action. So as she pursed her lips again, curious as what he would say, she sighed, faintly.
"I didn't say that this was a race, Edward. And you should know, that I always put myself first. Or tend to..." she trailed, thinking on how she had been selfless as of late; a mild oddity to some. "But I never said you were second. It's more that you seem to want to enter the race, then back out mere yards from the finish line," She said softly. Not dissapointed, but almost, in earnest. Not exactly self-sabotage, but close enough.
When she had finished, he seemlessly continued their dialogue. It was something else, to be fully out in the open, in the daylight [yuck], and discussing such a topic like this. No masks, no hiding, no, well, bullshit. She didn't even have to put up a front. If there were anyone she were nearly honest with, it was him, of all people. A man who would use her as easily as he did a crossword. That caused her chest to tighten slightly, even as she was in his arms. His words took on a slightly different tone, and she smiled lightly. "I'm not wanting to be cross, I'm just trying to illuminate the situation..." Before she could squeek out another word, he'd cut her off in the nicest way possible, his lips gently pressing to her own. Shock washed over her; yet she wasn't going to be the first to pull away. If he was going to lead, then she would allow him. This action first, theorize later Edward was quite nice.

He knew Selina put herself first. In that way, they were very similar, and he did not consider it a flaw. As Adam Smith determined, those working in their own self-interest benefit society as a whole. Could he ever trust Selina? In some ways, but he always knew that if it benefited her, he would be left to the wayside.
But as this woman stills in his arms, this powerful woman that had the force to knock him into that glass window next to them, a sense of….what would he call it…hope played at his heart and that maybe this wasn’t a lost cause.
Edward became more confident in the mere fact that his body was intact, and it showed in his actions. His free hand moved to the small of her back and pulled her body against his, as his fingers locked into her hair, pulling her into a deeper kiss, his tongue barely grazing across her lips.
It didn’t matter to him that they were in public. Why would it? He had a beautiful woman in his arms, and that was something to be proud of. He was certain that many men looked through eyes of envy, and suspected the women did as well.
Yet he broke the kiss, his eyes falling onto hers as if testing to see what she was thinking.
His lips tilted in a smirk, and he twirled a piece of her hair around his finger. “Selina dear, I thought you would be a better kisser,” he teased to see if he could rile her fur.

"You made me forget what to do..." She murmured, coming away from their embrace slightly dazed. It wasn't a bad kiss, not at all. It was just very public, and even that fact had her....shy. Yes, Selina Kyle, shy, and speechless for once. While she had quite a public face, and was seen socially, and in the limelight, well, her private life had always been kept private. So for him to take her in his arms, his fingers tangled in her thick hair, and entice her to this point; it had left her breathless.
She had no thoughts. Just...sensatiosn. After-effects of him stepping forwrd, and putting some sort of plan into action. "I like when you do action, Edward," She continued, each time she opened her mouth to talk, a half-formed idea coming out, instead of her usualy self-assured, coy jibes. And while they both stood there, she had to note they weren't half-bad a pair to look at. While Eddie had always been a tall man..whatever he'd had done to his leg, his knee..had made him walk a bit taller. Possibly confidence, more than before? She couldn't tell. But there was a twinkle in his eye that hadn't been there prior. A joie de vive infusing his very being.
If anything, she was grateful he was still holding onto her. It was a heady experience, stacked on her prior night's adventures, the mornings' phone call, a good draught of espresso, and nothing in the belly. Tapping a fingertip to his lips, she smirked, before her own mouth followed to return the gesture. "Now now, those sort of compliments aren't going to get either of us more practice, now are they?" She only offered in retort, her thumb brushing along his jaw. She wanted to savior this moment, the rest of Gotham blocked from her mind, save for the man before her.

He couldn’t help the spreading grin on his lips as he took in her soft confused features. She seemed very unlike herself in those first few moments, almost innocent. This wasn’t the first time they had kissed, but the last time it had occurred, it was when he had dosed her with underline fear toxin and she thought he was Batman.
Actually….his lip twitched ever slightly, remembering how passionate she had been in that kiss, like if she was trying to consume him. The kiss with her now certainly had not been bad, but it lacked the passion and fire he knew Selina had.
Edward would never admit it to himself, but a tingle of nervousness went through his mind. No, the Batman would not beat him. Edward Nigma was far a better man compared to Bruce Wayne. He thought the name is disgust and distaste. The man might hold a strong sense to protect those he cared about, but he held little respect in the people he was protecting. Edward could be seen as the exact opposite. He had high expectations of those he would deem close enough to him. Those few people he allowed in his life were intelligent, capable, and most importantly, not a drain upon society. Why would Edward need to protect them? They were perfectly capable of protecting themselves.
Yes, Edward was the better man, more intelligent, more attractive, more capable than the Batman.
Who would choose an emotional, grumpy, ‘my life is terrible because my parents died’ man over him?
Was it because he was an orphaned? Women sympathized with him? Edward was technically an orphaned to! So what if he was the one to kill his father and his mother committed suicide. He was still technically an orphaned. He deserved that sympathy.
Or was it because he was wealthy? Edward had money! And Edward actually earned it, he wasn’t a trust fund baby.
Or was it because he had kids? Did it matter that Edward didn’t? Not that he wanted kids, but Edward would be ten times the father that man was. That man already let his kids stay up pass their bedtime and fight men twice their age with guns. He already let one die, and he usually doesn’t let them wear pants. What type of sick pedophilic father doesn’t let their kids wear pants?
Edward Nigma was the better man.
Her finger running across his bottom lip snapped him back to focus to the woman in front of him. His eyes ran across her face, taking in the structure of her elegant cheek bones and full lips. She was in his arms, not his.
His eyes sparkled with mischief at the mention of practice. The kiss might not have matched, but she had not turn down his advances, and if Edward was anything, it was persistent. He made a bet, and he planned to win it, not only for his plan but for his pure ego.
His thumb ran a circular movement along her lower back, as his other hand shifted from her hair and trailed down along her body. “Selina dear, you should know I don’t need practice. I am fairly close to perfect in all my decisions and actions,” he whispered against her lips, his forehead gently resting on her own.
“And while I would love to,” his lips barely grazed along her, “play a game seven minutes in heaven with you, I have a much more important puzzle to determine. Riddle me this, how long will it take for Miss Kyle to kiss me?” he asked softly, the back of his finger trailing down her slender arm. He wanted to kiss her again, but he didn’t want it to be only about his desire for her. No, he wanted her to want him to the point that she would do anything to have him. He wanted to have that same fiery kiss she had given him at the Batman. He let his lips linger there for a mere moment longer before he broke away from her completely. He stepped a few steps back, straightening his suit and opening the car door for her. “Your carriage awaits, my lady,” he said sweetly, almost too sweetly, as a smirk played on his lips.

"The same amount it takes Mr. Nigma to cease talking," she retorted just as softly. In those few moments, she had returned his kiss. Not sweetly, not hotly, but something nearing the middle. It hadn't needed much thought to respond to him, nor to move, but she did linger, before he pulled away, and offered up their ride. It seemed it was taking longer than the usual commute to get to the museum. Not that she would complain. It seemed rare that it was a day where she didn't have to make so many decisions. Where she didn't have to second guess herself, nor hide what she was doing, or overthink, well, anything. So as she stepped past him, fingertips grazing his bicep, then forearm, then chest, tie, and other arm, she offered up a smile she'd only shared with one, or maybe two people in her life. [In reality, only 4, including himself had seen such an honest display]
It was into the car she scooted, her red heels finally sliding into the backseat to make room for him. Hopefully he would join her, and not sit and play, or weave her into some puzzle. It'd be nice if he, too were being himself, and not ....plotting, nor scheming. They always had such fun together, be it at dinner, or coffee, or whatever, really. This was something that had her churning. Had there been something she'd overlooked with her friend? Another thought. Something she could debate another day, another time, and not right now. If anything, she would look forward to the tall, questioning man folding himself in beside her, as they went to indulge in something she knew they both enjoyed, and appreciated. And perhaps he'd regale her with stories of his more recent travels.
But was it really that bad to think about what a life with him could be like? Indulging in their darker sides in the moonlight, contemplating puzzles and schemes over newsprint Sunday mornings, being able to show affection in the daylight, not quite caring about the paparazzi, or whatever? Pursing her lips, her tongue darted to relish their last kiss. Wishful thinking. Maybe he was just looking for a rebound. Who knew at this point in time.

The kiss came unexpectedly, which was evident in the fact that Edward had no idea what to do with his hands. Instead of going to the proper place at her waist, they stayed limply by his side. Like a cool breeze on a hot summer day, as soon as it was there, it was gone. He was left speechless, her finger teasing at his clothing as she left him empty handed outside the car.
For a moment, he felt like he was back in high school, hitting on the popular cheerleader, making her laugh and smile at him, right before the big brute football player came around the corner with rage and shoved him into a locker. He always wondered whether the girl flirted with him out of pity or if she actually liked him because he always found it so odd and idiotic that she constantly choose the brute over him. Could he actually capture someone like Miss Kyle?
While his intentions behind reaching out to her, giving her gifts, attempting to woe her were certainly pieces behind a larger puzzle, he couldn't deny the small crush he always had on the woman. After all, he had been with many women, and the only one that managed to stay constant in his life was Selina Kyle and yet also the woman he could not fully have.
His mind danced around the idea of Selina actually being his, how she would curl up against him as they slept away the mornings. The idea of her smiling face as he made her breakfast, and how she would teased him for the serious look he had when solving a crossword. He wondered how it would be like for someone to fully accept him for who he was, and if he could grant another the same acceptance. As the dream filled his thoughts, it quickly burned like paper tossed into a fire. Selina Kyle was an independent woman who did as she pleased when she pleased. A lifetime commitment certainly seemed out of her reach, then again, he wasn't one for commitment either. Life could be so boring in routine.
Standing outside the car, he felt a bit flustered, remembering her touch and the taste of her mouth. How could life ever be boring with her? He straightened his tie, swallowing thickly, and reminding himself why he was here. He stepped into the car and sat by her side. He mentioned the museum to the driver before turning towards her. His eyes locked with her green ones. He did love green. His hand captured a stray strand of hair and placed it behind her ear gently. "I do hope you are not merely teasing me like a mouse trapped in a corner," he smirked. "I would be quite heartbroken," he said with a playful hurt expression as his hand came to his own heart as if it was in pain now. "I know it is hard to believe, but I do have one," he teased.

It wasn't long after they parted after the kiss that she slipped into the car again, a fingertip pressing to her lower lip before he slid in behind her. She was quick to reapply a thin layer of color, once more, because it seemed it was fading at a rapid pace this morning. Oddly.
Turning to Edward, her thumb went to the corner of his mouth where she gently rubbed a smudge of color from his lips. "Don't want you looking like a mutual friend, you know." She teased lightly, before frowning just as playfully as he.
"Oh hon. You know I don't play with those close to me. That's a shameful thing, especially when it deals with the heart. And the feline analogies are so below you, Edward." She chided, shaking her finger at him.
"Mice are too easy, and you know that. I prefer, bigger prey." And she did. Flushing lightly as he readjusted her hair, she was curious if they were ever going to make it to the museum. Hearts were not part of her hunt. "Are we even going to get to the exhibit at the museum, Eddie? I think for once you have surprised me, because I'm not aware there was a new one...." And hopefully, this little exhibit wasn't going to be a saucer of cream.
