The question that he asks causes Nina to pause as, while the answer to it is extremely simple, how she answers it could pretty much change everything. And there are a lot of options, each with their pros and cons. But though it takes a very long time compared to how quick Nina normally would be to answer, in reality her hesitation is only a few moments before she says, "Of course there is, though I think that it would be unlikely for you to find anyone who could do a better job of that than myself. However, I'm not accustomed to taking patients as my time is better spent doing research... unless I can do both at the same time..." She trails off, pausing to see just how interested the young man is or isn't in what she's saying so far.
For her part, Shawty's interest is pulled even more at Dr. Stenet's words, as she's never heard her boss say such a thing to anyone before. And she can't help but laugh at his bashfulness and simply says, "You're welcome." Truthfully what she's trying to do is simply discourage Victor from thinking too deeply about the situation. Which he can't if he's being somewhat distracted.

Victor kept quiet as Nina answered his question. He wasn't completely sure how much he wanted to go through this and whether or not he wanted to know what she would find. There was that part of him that was naturally curious about things like this. But then at the same time he was worried that she would find something and learn about Lupin.... And Cana. He winced slightly as he thought. "There wouldn't be too many needles in it will there?" He asked rubbing his wrist slightly. He looked at her to see his reaction. "Also I can't exactly pay if it cost to much." He added in a tone that sounded more apologetic then anything else.
He looked over at Shawty still somewhat caught off guard by her earlier comment. If he hadn't already had feelings for Alison he might have had to put up with Alison or Cana telling him to date her. Thankfully he didn't have that problem this time around.

The question actually causes Nina to smirk slightly, though the expression disappears quickly. "No, I don't use needles very often," she comments, not elaborating further. In fact she doesn't need to use needles for any sort of diagnostic purpose at all - it's only in providing some sort of treatment that she'd need to use one. She might anyway if she feels the need to disguise her real methods, but as she doesn't want to cause anyone more distress than necessary she'd of course avoid doing that more than she absolutely has to.
"And if I learn anything at all useful I'd consider that payment enough," she adds more seriously, not really concerned with money. She actually makes more than she knows what to do with as it is. But then she comments, "However, to that end, the more of what you know that you tell me the more likely it is that I'd be able to understand anything that I find - and of course it would be completely confidential." She pauses there, wondering what he'll say to that. She knows that he knows more about whatever is going on with him than he's admitting, though perhaps he thinks that he has a good reason for it. She just hopes that it isn't something that will end up being disastrous to his health if he won't let her get to the bottom of it.

Victor finished ribbing his wrist after a few moments and looked at her relaxing quite abit when she brought up not really needing needles. "Ok thanks. I'm not to great with needles." He admitting sheepishly. In his mind it seemed that any medical doctors out there always wanted to stick a sharp needle in his arm when he went to them. Hearing one say that she didn't use needles often helped him out quite abit. Or rather helped him to relax.
He felt abit better knowing that he wasn't necessarily going to wind up needing to pay. If he had to then he would but he didn't want to pay any more then he had to. Not that he wasn't willing to pay. He had to stop and think. He did in fact know more about his........ 'medical situation' but...... If he said what he knew then it would be rather awkward for him. If he told Dr. Stenet that he had an alien parasite living in his body then........ Well it might not turn out that well. He looked around and wondered what to say. Eventually he looked at Dr. Stenet. "I'll tell you what I know." He said plainly. He wouldn't just spill everything he knew but he would tell most of what he knew.

Having a strong dislike of needles is actually quite common for people. Nina can't say that she's a huge fan of them herself, though perhaps her take on it is a bit different than the average person's: They tend to think about how much it hurts and leave it at that. Nina considers the pain as only a small problem compared to the problem of accidental infection, and when she ponders that for long enough she starts to muse on alternative methods for curing people with problems that are normally solved with injections.
But she can't afford to think about that now, since that's a topic she could literally spend days pondering. Instead she smiles and nods to the comment, waiting to hear how much he's willing to say about his condition. And she looks pleased when he says that he'll tell her. "What do you know about it, then?" she asks, but she'd quick to add, "And... how do I put this? I'll believe anything you say." Or at least, if what he says makes sense when compared to what she can tell about it with her gift. And the look in her eyes is extremely sincere - she's certain that whatever the explanation is, it'll be just as interesting as his blood-work.
Meanwhile, Shawty is keeping her mouth shut, eyes flickering between her boss and Victor and looking more and more interested by the moment. Knowing Dr. Stenet like she does, she knows that the woman isn't this interested in just anything - pity that she'll probably have to wait until Victor leaves to demand to know what she sees.

Victor looked from Nina to Shawty then back again. Ok so she would believe him, eh? She says that now but she probably doesn't expect him to start talking about an alien parasite thing living in him.And he couldn't quite say "Well I'm a werewolf" so how would he go about doing this?
"So... you're sure that you'll believe anything I say?" He asked wincing slightly. He didn't think she would believe what he would have to say. He wanted to tell her but he didn't want to be labeled as insane. But then what was that saying? "Never lie to your doctor" he looked at Nina wincing abit more. He started trying to think of what he could say that wouldn't quite be lying but then at the same time wouldn't be telling her about an alien in him?
He figured he could cover the basics. "Well all this started shortly after I got out of college.... And well... It doesn't hurt if that's what you're asking." He started to say. He really couldn't think of what to say he didn't want to lie, he saw no reason to lie to these two. After all they haven't proved themselves untrustworthy. But at he same time he didn't know what would happen to him if he revealed the truth.

"Yes," Nina answers his question instantly, obviously not having to even think about it for a second, "I'd imagine that you have a very strange story to tell." And hopefully by saying that he'll understand just how much she means it too since she already knows that whatever happened to him is highly unusual. You don't get so many proteins that she's never seen from just anywhere, not to mention the other things she can sense in his blood. It's a wonder that he looks so human... well, she thinks. How is she to compare him to any standard when she's never seen anything like this before?
Though the start of his story causes her to give an impatient frown. "Yes, so you said..." she comments, as he explained about the lack of pain in those exact same words mere moments ago. "It makes you nervous to talk about it?" she asks, though it's more of a statement than a question. The researcher side of her doesn't really care about his emotions since they just gets in the way and only wants to ask so that she can fix the pesky feelings and get back to facts, though fortunately the humanitarian side of her is stronger and forces her to be patient instead - she has enough time to be nice to him, right?
Shawty is actually somewhat amused by the repeated statement, though she squishes her laugh into a friendly smile, as if to try to tell Victor without words that he's talking in a safe environment. If he's not too nervous to glance her way, anyway.

Victor once again looked from one woman to the next then back again. He saw Shawty's smile and returned the smile with a small weak smile of his own. Do I tell her? She was a doctor, if he told her then she might want to run experiments on him. What did he do? It wasn't like this was the hardest thing he had ever done. But he was honestly more afraid of being locked away for some reason and not get to see Alison ever again.
He started to twiddle his fingers as he thought about what he should do. He looked down at his feet then around at the room. He figured that he could probably make an excuse to get away if need be. Yeah that's what he would do, he'd run. Well not run, but he'd find an excuse to leave. He opened his mouth to speak but then couldn't. He couldn't just leave like that, it was rude, plus it wasn't quite who he was. "Well..... You see...." He paused and took a deep breath. " I uhh.... I." He looked from one woman to the next again then back to Nina. "It is a parasite..... Two actually.... But uhh...... They're uhh....... Well they're not quite of this Earth." He winced as he spoke, not that it was hard, but because he knew how it sounded. "Look I know it sounds like I'm insane. And trust me sometimes I wish I was, it'd be easier to explain then." He added quickly.

Nina may be a doctor (or actually even worse - a medical researcher), but that doesn't mean that she's a mad scientist who turns people into guinea pigs. That's what actual guinea pigs are for. Or, better yet as far as space requirements are concerned, mice and fruit flies. About the worst that could possibly happen to Victor here is Nina wanting to run an experiment on a blood sample. That would involve a needle...
She's patient as he considers his answer, allowing the time to think. She knows that she means no harm, but knows that he doesn't necessarily know that. A part of her is somewhat surprised that he has to think about it that hard, but then again that only makes her more certain that she's onto something big here. When he starts to speak she remains quiet, allowing him to work his way through his nerves by simply being quiet and attentive.
And what she hears causes her eyebrow to lift in interest. Alien parasites? Well, that would help explain some of the odd proteins she can sense in his blood. "No, that actually makes sense," she says quickly when he suddenly stops to add in a sort of verbal disclaimer, "Exactly how were you infected by them? How long ago? You said it didn't hurt..." No, she has no trouble believing his story, already wanting to know more but also visibly thoughtful as she adds that bit of information to what she knows and starts working out what it all essentially means.
Shawty, on the other hand, looks somewhat weirded out by what Victor's saying. At least until she looks over at Nina. Instead of expecting to see the same look of disbelief on her boss's face that she's wearing, instead she sees that Nina's believing this story and therefore has to rethink her own reaction. Her expression shifts to a sort of confused surprise as she silently waits to hear more - maybe it'll make more sense then.

When Nina responded to Victor saying that what he had said made sense he froze. It did? Did she really just say that? How did it make sense to her? What did he know that he didn't? "It does?" He asked squinting his right eye in confusion. "Well.... Umm.... Its kinda a long story. But one found me... Kinda... It looked like some large....... canine thing." He didn't want to say 'wolf' "Then it did something and now its... Well. I don't really know." He explained to the two women. "The second one was just there in the morning." He added.
He realized how all of it sounded and wondered what he was getting himself into. Maybe he should have just called in for this information. He started trying to think of how he could get out of this. He didn't want to get to into something...... But then again he would kinda like to learn more about Lupin and Cana.... But that could go wrong. But then again. It seemed to be an unspoken rule that he had to find stuff out about them on his own. Or at least it seemed that way because they wouldn't actually tell him much. But then again he hadn't asked them that much.

"Yes," Nina replies simply, not wanting to explain the whys and wherefores. Continuing to listen, her lips purse as she tries to follow along with what he's saying, but then she finally says, "You know, I don't know if you're quite aware of it, but you're being extremely unclear and vague. This is not at all helpful to me - I need details to understand your condition unless you'd like me to do the medical equivalent of learning by trial and error. And you don't want that, and I don't have that kind of time. Is there a reason why you're reluctant to talk about them?"
Because as far as she can tell, that rambling speech was him trying to answer her questions without actually saying anything. Which, as she said, isn't helpful at all. She just hopes that he doesn't have some sort of complicated mental hangup about explaining what's going on - she's a doctor, not a therapist. With any luck he just needs to be reassured about something - but she can't do that without knowing what his deal is.

Victor looked from one woman to the next then back again for what felt like the hundredth time to him. He'd have to tell them, as much as he didn't want to he had to tell them. Otherwise he might not get to hear the end of it. Well.... Knowing Lupin and Cana he wasn't going to hear the end of it either way.
"Well....... As I said.... Its a long story but....." He said looking at Nina and took a deep breath. He opened his mouth and tried to speak but nothing came out. Then he tried again, then a third time. "Well the first one... He goes by Lupin. He appeared to me..... Well he appeared to me as a wolf like being. Chased me for a few miles I think..... Then I guess you can say he 'possessed' me. But I'm in complete control of my body. He just well...." He paused feeling rather strange speaking about this in front of someone who had met him as Wulfen but didn't know he was Wulfen. And someone he had never met before...... Why did it always seem to happen this way with him?
"Its kinda a mutual thing. He enhances some of my traits that would allow me to survive in the wild. Assuming I actually lived in the wild. And I give him a way to live. The second one just kinda appeared over night a month ago." He continued speaking and rubbing his hands together awkwardly."Well also...... They actually talk to me. And they go through a metamorphosis. A life like ours. Then this stage, sorta a mental being type thing................... Then something else. They haven't told me." He said before stopping and wincing clasping his hands tightly waiting to be told that he's insane.

This time as Nina listens an eyebrow is raised, but she looks more confused than skeptical about his story. The things he says about being in a way 'possessed' by anything is well outside of her experience. Then again, while she's very much a scientist, you'd have to have your head in the sand to ignore all the signs of the supernatural and other oddities that science is still only just beginning to try to explain. For her its more a matter that it's a subject that she's unfamiliar with and not that she's unbelieving about his words.
"It's okay, go on," she reassures him when he hesitates, understanding some of his reluctance. After all, she's rather secretive about her own gift, so she knows it would be hard to explain. In fact, she's only ever actually explained it to someone properly twice, and the number of people who have any inkling that she even has it can probably be counted on two hands. Then again, in most situations it isn't hard for her to hide what she can do as simple expertise and talent in her field of work.
It's what he says when he continues that finally clicks a few pieces into place and erases much of her confusion. "They're sentient?" she asks, surprised, though the question is mostly rhetorical at this point since that's clearly what he meant to say. "So you're saying that you're the host of two sentient, non-corporeal alien beings?" she summarizes, blinking a little at that, "That's... fascinating..." So fascinating that she's suddenly staring off into space just to ponder that for a moment. The potential implications...
Meanwhile, the more practical Shawty suddenly comments, "Ah, so you're Wulfen." Not a hard thing to figure when he starts talking about his abilities being enhanced by some wolf-like creature. Though the way she says it, she simply figured that out but doesn't care a whole lot about it. Because she doesn't - why should she care which person in this city wears which mask? That only matters when the person is a threat to her boss, and she rather doubts that either Victor or Wulfen can be considered a threat for multiple reasons. Therefore it falls under 'interesting things I learned today'. Dr. Stenet seems even less interested, since she doesn't react to her statement at all. Then again, it's also possible that the woman is so lost in thought that she isn't listening, if she really does find this guy's condition that fascinating.
