Nina's quick to take Selina's hand, appreciating that gesture which says so much without saying anything. Though the expression that comes to her face is slightly amused. "If anything, I'm the one who has the easier job right now. You're having to do things about all this, while all I need to do is heal - which literally means laying around doing nothing. Later I'll have so much to get done, but now?" she shakes her head sightly and laughs as she comments, "And do you realize that's the third time you've said you're going to do something strange, Selina? Should I be worried about your plans?" Though based on her tone, that question is rhetorical and she's not really worried at all. "I trust you, Selina," she says again, but she can't help but adding on, "But be careful."
"And honestly, I don't feel like I'm in a position to be offering anyone any advice on their relationships," she adds with a slight hint of humor in her expression. Just look at where she is, after all. "But I do know that the man cares about you. What you do about that and all the... trickiness, I have no idea..." she says rather honestly, shaking her head a little. Perhaps if things had gone well for her and Edward then she'd feel more in a position to talk about how to juggle all that, but now she feels like the last person that could offer any advice on complex relationships. Clearly, at some point, she'd failed to handle her own properly.
The last question Selina asks causes her some pause for thought. What does she do now? "I'm not sure," she replies with a frown, "What I want to do is get back to work, but until I've handled Edward that's not the safest idea. At least, not regularly - being where he knows to look..." She shakes her head at that. "Same reason why I shouldn't go back to my apartment. Maybe I need to move into a hotel for awhile..." she says, thinking out loud, "I'd really rather fast forward my life a couple of months - until this is all over and done with. I'm afraid that's probably going to be my main focus until then." She sighs, dreading the necessity, really. Is it too much to ask fate to just let her work without all these interruptions?

Selina leans in, and listens. For once she is quiet, and not crying, and not..just being a mess. Her mother would be livid with her, well, if she wasn't dead. As to the comment of being repetitive thrice in a row, the shock registers in her eyes. If she's repeating things that many times, she, herself, is not quite alright, either.
"No....you don't have to worry, I just...sometimes I feel the more I repeat something, the more real it is. And I don't forget. Cyclical, in a way. But I've had to deal with Edward prior...and he's not as much of a 'difficulty' as a 'precaution' with him. He's a bit more violent and to the point than one would think." She adds as an afterthought. Squeezing Nina's hand, she cracks a bit of a smile at her healing.
"It's going to be torture, you know. Relaxing in bed. I could get someone in here if you wanted a massage, pedicure, and all that. Even though I'm betting you could do a better microdermabrasion than most, and at a better cost!" She laughs, leaning back slightly. Nodding, she stares at her own hands for a moment. "At least it's not an ankle. When I hurt mine...even heading back to the rooftops was a chore. I just.." Selina sighs heavily again. "I guess seeing Batman affected me more than I thought it would. And..no...don't look like that, Nina. Even though Edward took a left turn instead of a right, it's no reflection on you. I wouldn't not ask, based on one asshole who went crazy. Trust me. Just...trust me on that one. There are less than a handful of people I'd go to for advice..on anything, and I count you in those few."
Cracking a crooked smirk, she glances to the blonde in the room with them. "You too, Shawty. You know a lot more than you let on, I know that for a fact." Turning back to Nina, Selina shifts, making a move to stand. "But please, let me know if you can figure out that time machine, I'd love to join you on it, and hell, I'd even fund the research. But you know what they say; it's not the destination, it's the journey. Or some crap like that." Another dismissive hand wave, and Selina laughs.

Smiling lightly as Selina talks, Nina feels comforted my many of her words. One could take the woman's tears as a sign of weakness, but that's not how she sees it - Selina is a very tough woman, but the past week especially must have been quite the ordeal for her. Enough to cause a few cracks, but Nina is not very concerned about them and she knows that her friend will find some way to hold it all together. In fact she expects her to make it through to the other end all the stronger for the experience - she knows that she will be.
And she laughs lightly as Selina remarks on how torturous bedrest will be - she really will find it tediously dull. Though she's actually gotten hurt and forced to be in bed or at least hobbling around a lot lately, she'll never get used to it - she's a busy, hard-working woman who hates the idea of sitting still for too long. Fortunately, she shouldn't have to remain in the hospital for too many days as long as she swears up and down to her doctors that she'll go easy on herself until she's more fully recovered. At least she can guarantee that she'll heal with no complications.
Though as Selina goes on to comment about her advice, Nina sighs lightly and says, "It will just... take me awhile to really trust my own judgment again. But that feeling is only natural, and time will fix it. But right now I feel... do I even know what I'm talking about?" she asks, then sighs and shakes her head. Perhaps it really is best for Selina to talk to an expert instead of herself, even though she knows that's probably going to be complicated if Selina has to avoid spilling any secrets. She just... doesn't feel very confident in giving advice right now.
When she's spoken to, Shawty remains silent but gives Selina a smug grin - yep, she's good, she knows it - but she won't brag. Instead she just watches in silence as Selina stands, guessing that the woman is going to leave soon. If so, that's a good thing - Dr. Stenet is quickly tiring herself out with this long conversation, and she doesn't want to have to shoo anyone out of the room before they want to go.
Nina frowns slightly at Selina's last statement, commenting, "But that's the point - this is not a journey I think that I'll enjoy. And if I do, I'll be... concerned about myself." She shakes her head, looking weary as she thinks about it. Edward... why did he have to do this to her? Why didn't he predict the consequences? She'd thought that he was better than that...

We always doubt ourselves after experiences like this, Nina. Trust me that you will get through this. And yes, if you do start to like...the outcome of the aftermath, please, don't hesitate to get ahold of me."
Tilting her head back, she can sense the weariness permeating the room. Not only is Nina tired, but the emotion is slowly creeping into her own bones now. If only she'd thought to dress more simply, she could be on the rooftops in -she glances at the formerly open window, her mind whirring-4 minutes. That's all it would have taken her. Wind in her face, freefalls galore, maybe an open window.
But that exit is not to be. Winking one last time to Shawty, and gingerly offering a hug to Nina, careful to not squeeze too hard. For all the healing that has occurred; Selina doesn't want to have a hand in undoing it, either.
"I hate to go, but we all need rest. I'll check in with Shawty tomorrow, but I have a few things to straighten out in the next several days. But don't hesitate to call, either of you." A slight smile, and another wave, and Selina slips through the door, letting it close gently behind her.

"I know I will," Nina says quietly, but with plenty of confidence to indicates that she really means it. She may not know all the little details of how she'll get through this and still be okay, but she knows that she will. It will just take time and probably more obstacles than she can now foresee. But if she's not okay at the end of all this, in her mind at least Edward will have won. And she is not okay with Edward winning - not after this.
But in spite of all the troubling thoughts dancing around the fringes of her mind, she welcomes the gentle hug that Selina offers, being careful herself not to involve her chest too much. She's been cut up not just by a kitchen knife but also a scalpel in order to allow a surgeon to repair the damage caused by the knife - she has stitches all over both her insides and her outsides and she's not going to risk making it worse with too much enthusiasm now. Selina will be getting a proper hug later - for now she gets what Nina can handle.
Still, she has to suppress the urge to protest about Selina leaving - did she mention that she doesn't enjoy hospitals at all? Instead she says, "Thank you so much for visiting, Selina! And by all means - come by as often as you want and are able to. I'll be calling whenever Shawty lets me have my cellphone." Because, yes, her assistant confiscated it - having the device was apparently not conducive to letting her rest.
Shawty merely smirks again when she's mentioned, actually enjoying being in a position where she's able to boss her boss around - if only a little. "I'll keep in touch," she promises. In a way Dr. Stenet can be relaxed about her personal safety simply because there isn't much that she can do about it herself and worrying won't help anything. Shawty, on the other hand, is feeling most of the burden of making sure that Dr. Stenet is safe while she's healing. And while she can't trust either Selina or Batman to lighten the load much since neither can be here 24/7 like she can, she'll happily take whatever she can get as far as help.
