Selina sits there, her once smile turning to a fine, tight-lipped line. There is a lot to think about, and how to approach things. She wished, for once, she could talk to someone on the other side.
To draw Nina into the game...would put many things at risk. Selina and Nina's relationship, for once. Selina worked the other side of good. It seemed that Nina...had some very useful skills, that could be harnessed for either side. And if anyone knew that Selina was going to this masked woman for help...it would instantly attract some people.
There was Nina's own mental health, especially treadingn so quickly on the heels of her breakup, the FBI, and now the more 'Villianous' irritants (at least to her), were targeting her. Nina really had two choices. Beef up her security, and keep them out, feeding the information to Selina, and then to Batman, or just to Selina, and she could get them to knock it off, OR, don a mask...and do...what?
That was the real question, something that almost breathed life into Selina as she finally roused from her thoughts. Directing those cool green eyes toward the other woman across from her, she finally asks a question.
"But what would be the purpose, the drive between her donning a suit? Yes, she could do it, but she could easily be tracked back to it. Someone is bullied, picked on, and then there is suddenly a new masked face around? That wouldn't fly as easily as you'd think. Jon, Eddie, Oswald, may go for rather asinine themes at times, but if they were stupid they never would have gotten as far as they are now." She states, continuing on.
"But...she needs to really ask herself is she wants to do this, for herself...and what her motives are going to me. Is she going to steal? Fight crime? Because the bit 'masks' never get anywhere, and usually end up as pawns of others. IF, and it's a big IF she gets, or makes it big..she's going to have to sustain that identity, and learn how to separate her masked persona, from her own. And trust me, it's not the easiest of things. It takes money, discipline, and a lot of not so kind lying." Sighing, Selina holds her hands up.
"I honestly don't know if this would overload her right now, or open up a few options, redirecting her energies, maybe even inspiring her. But to be honest? I think she could do better with her research. And possibly with catering to a few people...who in turn could aid her in her safety, and security." Chewing and mulling over her next thought, she nods to herself, before addressing Shawty.
"I have one more person I should speak with before we really go ahead with a plan. I know that if I tell you the details about Jon, or Edward, and so forth, it won't go anywhere. Nina would use it ...empirically, like she would, well, because she is a scientist, and that is how her mind works. I just...this is such a polarizing decision to make."
She glances down for a second, shutting her eyes gently. She feels like she's lecturing, but without the impact.
"To be honest...I just don't quite know. I'm not the best at these black and white decisions." And even now, at 31, she still isn't good at them.

Shawty listens to Selina's words in silence absorbing them. Given that her only experience with any of the rogues, present company excluded, are two rather hostile meetings and things that Dr. Stenet has told her, she knows just how valuable Ms. Kyle's opinion on this subject is.
And the questions that she's asking are very important ones to answer, though Shawty suspects that she can answer many of them on Dr. Stenet's behalf. After all, she's made it her business to get to know the woman very, very well. "Well, helpfully, the other thing she did that night was prove to Commissioner Gordon that she couldn't possibly be Dr. Stenet - I'd imagine, due to his influence, that will keep more than just him fooled. On the other hand, I don't think we have a prayer of fooling Mr. Nigma - knows her too well, too smart, but I don't think he's a threat to her in any case. Based on what she told me, it sounded like he's not so much upset with her as done with her," she explains, shrugging at that last bit, "But for the others, yeah, she'll have to do something to make it seem less likely that she's the same person." She frowns thoughtfully, but doesn't seem prepared to answer that question. Dr. Stenet's better than her at ideas anyway.
"But her motives... Give me a sec..." she says, pondering for a moment. She does know the woman well enough to figure that one out, or at least narrow it down quite a ways by process of elimination. "Whatever it is, it needs to be something she actually cares about - not something she's faking. So not stealing - she doesn't care about things. But not direct crime fighting either - she could crush people in a fight with the right setup, but finding them would take time and skills she doesn't have. And she's always saying that sort of thing isn't her job..." She pauses, thinking a moment before adding, "When she burned that building she was very driven. It wasn't exactly self defense, either. She was... making a statement."
There's another thoughtful pause before a pleased smile crosses her face and she starts laying out her thought out loud, "...You know, I think that Dr. Stenet would make a very good terrorist. I mean, she wouldn't kill anyone or target innocent people, of course not, but the woman could easily make it difficult to be on her bad side. And there's a long list of corrupt businesses and criminals that tick her off - not all related to her work - so if she was careful which ones she went after she'd look like someone who just hates jerks. If she did that enough, and not always for herself, it would be easy to overlook just how many times it happens to benefit her civilian self..." Hmm, sounds workable to her, at least. "And she called herself 'Inexplicable' when she introduced herself to Gordon - a name like that tends to discourage people from trying to figure her out. Tells them from the start that they're not going to get a good answer," she adds with a smirk.
The rest of what Ms. Kyle says has her nodding in understanding. "I know that I'm asking for a lot, and stirring up a lot of complicated ideas - by all means, think about it for awhile before doing anything. Just not too long - I want whatever we do to be in place before anyone tries anything." she says seriously, though that thought is followed by another that has her smirking, "Thinking of which... Dr. Stenet told Cobblepot that she's a 'good friend' of Catwoman, and you should have seen... I don't know why it bothered him so much, but he got up and left immediately after."

She had to chuckle. Oswald didn't like her often. He liked her less when they were arguing over prices for him to fence her proliferated goods. "Mm. That does sound like Oswald, sadly. But the thing is..while she is going to be a 'terrorist,' and you state she has a name...and a good one at that, you have to think of the other point you made. While she made a concerned effort to hide herself from Gordon, a civillian, with a name that might deter the standard John or Jane Doe from seeking out her identity, you have other nutjobs like Crane or Edward or even Batman who are going to be driven nuts by the fact they want to know the fear, riddle, and why behind the mask. Trust me on that one, I know how those men work."
Drawing in a breath, Selina wishes she had something to drink at this point, and hopes Nina is ok with being the only one while the other two women sit and 'chat,' one could call it. "And if she's going to start saying she is a good friend of Catwoman, that is going to stir up quite a few things. More attention, for one. Just because she can burn down a building while focused, and is able to don a mask doesn't mean everyone should, or could. While it might deter from her civilian identity to ...." Selina pauses, contemplating the right word, "..make statements, one really has to wonder; do they need an alter ego to further their civillian identity, or is that enough? Jon makes statements as Scarecrow because he harbors a severe obsession with fear, and pushing people to that point. An obession. Edward has horrific OCD, and more than a touch of personal narcissicm. You've probably heard it yourself that he considers himself rival to none other than Batman. Yet there is always an arrest, and a lovely visit to Arkham. She needs to figure out why she needs to make these statements, and if she isn't going to go black, or white, she needs to seriously, truly contemplate why she is going to sit the fence. Because people are going to pay attention, and want to sway her one way, or the other, push, and pull. But if she'd like to bolster either side, sadly, I can get her in touch with either side rather easily. But neither route of the three is the best. And do you think her mental state can handle an additional life, fully fleshed out, with that sort of attention at the moment?" Yes, she's being long-winded, but it's important. As well as reflective, as Selina even contemplates the aspects of life she has given up to perpetuate her own lifestyle to a degree.

Nodding slowly to what Ms. Kyle is saying, Shawty comments, "Well, doing more to conceal her identity is something that we'll probably need to talk to her about. She'd probably be better at coming up with clever ideas than I would, and there are other bits of that which would be up to her. I mean for example, given the way she talks about Batman, she might not care if he knows. And he'd probably be the hardest to fool." She shrugs, not really being able to say more on the subject. After all, she has no experience on maintaining a secret identity.
"But, given the way that our little chat with Mr. Cobblepot went, I doubt she caused any harm. The man is already paying too much attention - he knows more about which people she's met than you do, though he doesn't seem to know why she's met any of them. It's a long list, and adding Catwoman to it is just one more at this point," she says with a frown and a shake of her head. The man knew about the incident with Luthor, for pity's sake - the fact that they got through the meeting without really telling the man anything harmful is all that they could really hope for.
The rest of what Ms. Kyle has to say causes Shawty to purse her lips in thought, though she has some of the answers to the questions that the woman is asking. "Dr. Stenet is obsessed with one thing: her work. And to that end, defending her life - she's the only one that can do what she does and she knows it. If we sell this idea to her, that would be her driving force to making statements. And if we pull her out of this funk, you'll probably see her being just as obsessive about what she does as anyone else in this city," she comments with a slight smirk.
"And I think that there's only one 'side' that she's capable of being on: her own," she continues more seriously, "She's really picky about when she uses her power, and she will not put herself in a position where someone can demand it of her - she uses it when she decides to and never at any other time. So she'd keep herself independent. She's too stubborn about that for anyone to win her over, trust me on that."
"Of course, the real questions are: is it worth it, and can she handle it right now? I think that she can, in fact it might pull her out of this rut. She really needs something beyond her work and Mr. Nigma to think about, and this would take a lot of her energy. I'm less sure about whether or not it should be done at all, but honestly I think maybe something this big needs to be done to keep her safe. I mean, beefing up security is nice, but we happen to be dealing with that subset of the population who is really good at handling security systems. And as far as getting Batman involved in protecting her... we respect what he does, honestly, but he's never managed to show up when she's needed him even once before. Neither I nor Dr. Stenet exactly trust him with her safety at this point. So from my perspective, I either hope that I personally am enough to protect her, or we do something crazy and hope that it works," she explains somewhat grimly.

Selina can really only do one thing at what else Shawty has to say about Nina; smirk. While she always knew there were reasons the two women clicked, this was one unspoken merit; Nina Stenet was a woman held by no man. Well, maybe to Edward, slightly, but...she liked the independent streak of the doctor.
"Well," Selina starts after a bit of pause. "I think I have an idea. But that idea is going to need a few days, and another meeting with....a counterpart." She muses, partially to Shawty, and partially to herself. She needs to have a chat with Batman. And to think long and hard about Nina.
Nodding to herself, she stands, finally. "Don't worry about the security. I'll stop by for a once over, and then again at night. There are different things to look for...for different people that might want to gain access. And as much as Nina is focused on perfecting her work, I am as well. Her life will not be in danger. Not yet, at least. We just have to keep her from donning a mask, again, for a little while. I'm hoping that her being armed with more information...will be just what she needs. And as a consultant.." She wasn't lying here, that is her job, after all; "I should be able to answer any of her questions about the people we'll be supplying information on for her."
Placing her hand on the girl's shoulder, she looks her in the eye. "Crazy is a word you will learn to use with caution. Trust me on that one, that adjective will not be used in what means you will need to go to for protecting Nina."
Releasing the other woman, Selina extends a hand to go back to where Nina is. After all, Selina Kyle would know pertinent information about Gotham's underbelly, considering her ..security line of work, no?

"Alright," is all that Shawty says to the idea of giving Ms. Kyle time to think. She'll probably never fully trust the woman, but then again Shawty's suspicious nature is a part of what makes her genuinely good at her job and she does give her more trust than she does almost anyone else.
She stands at the same time that the other woman does, nodding slowly to what she's saying now. While she's still uncertain that ordinary means will be enough to provide Dr. Stenet with the level of protection that she needs, at least she's gotten a few balls rolling with Ms. Kyle and that will help the situation.
Though when Ms. Kyle seems to object to her choice of words, Shawty's eyebrow lifts somewhat dryly as she simply comments, "Sanity is highly overrated." She had been using caution when she'd used the word - she just has a different perspective on the situation than the other woman. Perhaps time will tell which one of them sees it more accurately.
When they get back to where they left Nina, they find her sitting there with her head back and her eyes closed. Though the moment she hears them approaching, she straightens and looks at them - she was only resting her eyes while she waited. There's a hint of curiosity in her eyes as she seems to glance them over for a hint of what they were talking about, but she's smart enough to know that it was something about her and trusts Shawty more than enough to not ask. If she was purposely excluded from the conversation, she trusts that her assistant had a decent reason for doing so and that she'll be informed of anything she needs to know. She quite literally trusts the girl with her life, after all.
Instead she simply asks, "So, are we ready to go now?"

Selina nods to Nina, and to Shawty as well. "I made an appointment with your assistant. We'll be meeting in a week's time, and I'll have documents, as well as a more extensive...course of action ready. If you can hold off until then, possibly think up questions, or areas you would like clarified; expedite that information to my email. This one, preferably." Selina pulls out a card and scribbles an address down and hands it to Shawty, a knowing look going between the two.
"Nina, thank you for stopping by. I really do mean it. I should be by in two day's time just to give your home a once over. It shouldn't be extensive, and it should just look like a friend stopping by; nothing more." Keeping her words to a minimum, she doesn't need to go in-depth as she has already addressed most of her concerns with Shawty.

Standing and frowning a little, Nina looks slightly confused for a little as she tries to catch up with what Selina is saying since she hadn't heard anything that the other two had been talking about. But her confusion vanishes the moment that having her home looked over is mentioned; oh, that's right, Selina's day job is in the security business - of course Shawty would talk to her about that. Though there must have been more to it than that, or she wouldn't have been excluded from the conversation. The documents that were mentioned are probably a clue...
Forcing herself to not think too deeply about that, she instead tries to keep her focus on the matters at hand more relevant to her. She nods slowly - she's actually finding herself a bit reluctant to have Selina look at her home, it's her sanctuary, after all. But no, she trusts the woman that much, she supposes. "You're welcome! And that's fine. I'll let you know when I'm finished analyzing the perfume - that should take no longer than a week as well, so perhaps that would be a good time for us to catch up again," she says with a slight smile, "And we'll, of course, let you know if we see or hear of anything interesting in the meantime." While she doubts that much else will happen to her in that time frame, she imagines that Selina will have had time to do a lot of poking around by then.
For her part, Shawty remains quiet - it's as if she fades a little into the background when she's around Dr. Stenet, but if you were to ask her that's simply as things should be. But she gives an appreciative smile when she's handed the card and says, "Thank you!" Then she's quiet as her boss finishes her farewells, moving to lead the way out.
