Victor remembered bits and pieces of the night before. Or at least he thought it was the night before. It could have been the past couple of nights. He remembered the interview... Being bound to a chair and being constantly asked when it would be an ok time to kill someone. It wasn't something that he would forget easily.
He then remembered the.... He wasn't sure what to call it... The void? He remembered the man sticking him with some kinda needle and then being completely alone..... Then he remembered changing into some kinda monster... Then completely losing control. He didn't remember anything after that. The next thing he remembered was being dropped off at this place with nothing but a towel to cover his modesty.
He was now wearing some clothing that they had on hand for patients and he was now standing in the middle of a room that was clearly for doctor patient sessions. He was pacing around complaining. The worst part about all of this was the fact that there was no sign of Lupin. Not since that void, it was possible that the mental wolf was dead. He hoped that wasn't the case.
He wandered over to the door and knocked on it some. "Hey I'm not crazy!" He shouted for what must have been the hundredth time. And again no one answered. He moved back to the desk in the room and paced around with his hands on his hips. "I just had a rough night." He muttered.
Victor still hadn't completely recovered from his experience. But he was still not crazy. He looked at his hands trying to focus his vision. He wasn't blind but without his glasses his eyesight wasn't the greatest. Which was contributing to his somewhat sour behavior at the moment. He then walked back to the door and again knocked on it. "Hey if your not going to let me go or anything can I at least have a pair of glasses? I'm not going to use them to kill myself." He said through the door. When he again didn't hear anything along the lines of a reply he walked back the the table and sighed. Now that he thought about it there probably wasn't anybody out there. After all he wasn't a mass murder or anything. Just a guy found naked in a ditch babbling incoherently.

Iris gives the paperwork on her newest patient a quick scan as she heads down the hallway to meet with him. There isn't much to go on, only the condition that he'd been found in. Of course she immediately suspects that he was under the influence of some drug, especially when she was informed that he's now coherent since that probably means it has now worn off, though the report says that the men who picked him up didn't recognize the symptoms. But that only means that it wasn't alcohol or any of the short list of common illegal fare.
As she reaches the door, she tucks Victor's folder behind her omnipresent notebook before she opens it and lets herself in. "Someone's looking a lot better this morning," she comments, before giving him a polite nod as she introduces herself by saying, "I'm Dr. Ledford. I've been assigned to be your therapist, Mr. Grant. Or do you prefer Victor?"
She heads over to the table and sets her things on it, not sitting immediately, but instead sorting through her papers so that the ones that she might need are on top and easily accessible. Better to get things organized now than to have to interrupt their conversation to fumble through them later.

Victor had his back to the door when he heard it open. Not for an reason other then he just happened to be pacing in that direction. He turned around and saw a woman saying that he seemed to be doing better. Victor raised his eyebrows at that statement. He guessed he was doing better. He was in control of his actions again and was talking to people so he must've been doing better.
"I don't mind." He replied to her question about his name. He might have been in a somewhat sour mood but there was no reason to be rude to anyone or anything like that. And after all it wasn't this woman that caused him to be acting this way.
"uh... Before we begin Dr. Ledford." He began hesitantly. "Was really found the way I've been told I was found?" He didn't remember much of what happened after a certain point.

If he's in a sour mood, Iris is certainly not going to blame him. This isn't a very pleasant place to be - not for her and certainly not for anyone here as a patient. And it's certainly not her fault that it's like this, so it's not like she'd take any expressions of discontentment personally. Even when a patient does blame her, she knows that they're only projecting.
Victor, though, seems to be polite enough on her first impression. Unhappy to be here, but not being unpleasant about it. As she finishes sorting through the papers, she pauses to glance at him when he asks her about how he was found, but instead of answering she goes back to the papers. But this time rather than sorting them out, she quickly thumbs through one of the piles and pulls out a particular, official-looking document. "There's no reason why you can't see this - it's the police report from when they found you," she comments as she holds it out to him, "And we can begin with that, if you'd like."
Discussing how he was found is certainly an excellent way to begin this session. No matter how he'd ended up in this situation it's important to make sure that he's willing to face what happened. Because however it happened, he did something that resulted in these consequences and trying to hide from that will be just as helpful as trying to talk her into approving his release before she's certain that he's ready.

When she offered the police report he reached out and took it. Not entirely sure he wanted to know what was in it. Before he was able to read it though he looked at it closely then from arms length. He then widened his eyes then narrowed them. He continued this pattern until he managed to place it in a good enough position that allowed him to read it.
Victor sat down as he read it. He couldn't quite believe what he was reading. He closed his eyes tightly trying to remember the blank spot in his memory. The last thing he remembered was being trapped in a void with no one else around. Then feeling an intense amount of pain.... Then nothing. He sat the file on the table and looked up at the doctor.
"I guess its as good a place as any." He said still trying to remember. His sour mood was now being replaced with confusion. What could he have done for him to have been found like that?

Shortly after handing him the report, Iris finishes sorting through her papers and takes a seat on the other side of the table. And she waits patiently for him to read through it, knowing that if she woke up in the asylum she certainly would want to know everything she could about how exactly she ended up in that situation.
And she simply observes him as he reads, noting quickly that he probably needs glasses, but also that his manner changes from more upset to more confused. That's a good sign, as it indicates that he's shifting the blame away from everyone else. As long as he's telling himself that being here is a mistake, it will be hard for him to face whatever the problem is and fix it. Because it certainly isn't a mistake - people just don't wind up naked in a ditch and rambling incoherently for no reason. Some of those reasons are more problematic than others, but there always is one.
When he finishes, she takes the report again and puts it among the other papers, then picks up her omnipresent notebook and a pen. It may be a bit of a cliche for people in her profession to always have one, but how else is one supposed to remember everything important that a patient says? And now that she's prepared for that, she asks, "What can you tell me about how that happened?" She has her own ideas and theories, of course, but she doesn't want to start talking about them until she has given him a chance to say what he can on his own without her influence.

When asked what he remembered from the night before he had to stop. He remembered bits of it, and there was one part he wasn't comfortable with talking about. And then there was the large gap in his memory. He twiddled his thumbs on the table and his eyes moved from side to side as though he was looking for something.
"Well to be truthful. I don't remember a whole lot." He said. He took a deep breath and tightly closed his eyes. Then after a few seconds he opened his eyes and looked at Dr. Ledford. "What I do remember is being.... Kidnapped I guess... By this guy... I forget his name but... He had an obsession with Scarecrows."
He then paused and had to gather his thoughts again... What was his name? Why couldn't he remember? "Then I was in a lab like place.... I think that's what it was... And he stuck me with something...... I'm not sure what but then....." He then found himself unable to talk about what he experienced. He took a deep breath and skipped over that part.
"Next thing I remember is being here." Was how he finished. He didn't completely want to re-live what had happened. He didn't know why but it was hard for him to think back on. Plus there was a bit he didn't want to give away.

As Victor begins to talk, Iris begins to write, but much slower than his words are being said. She doesn't need to write down everything he says, but just enough to remember the important points. Though when he mentions scarecrows, Iris abruptly looks up from her notepad in surprise. And yet, never one to jump too quickly to conclusions, she says nothing but writes a bit more as he continues. She looks lightly troubled, but more thoughtful than anything as she lets the silence hang for a moment after he's finished telling his story.
Looking back over her notes, her voice is quiet and even gentle asks, "This 'guy' who kidnapped you: can you describe him? Or his voice? Was anyone else with him? And can you say anything about what happened after he 'stuck you with something'?" If he's saying what he sounds like he's saying, she could probably actually tell him more about what happened to him than he could.
But there's enough about his story that's inconsistent enough to have her slightly suspicious; she may be new to Gotham but that doesn't mean that she hasn't studied up on the city's rogues. She might be privileged to treat one of them eventually, after all. Or if not that, she could easily run into them while working here. Or if not that, she's also a citizen of this city now. And knowing a bit about a certain former employee of this facility is rather important.
Yet due to her suspicions, she doesn't want to spill out all the answers until she's completely certain that the story is true. Victor could, after all, be delusional. You never know what you're going to get from a new patient with no prior mental health issues. But if this event was all in his mind he'll slip up somewhere, while if he's telling the truth his story will be consistent and match what she knows.

Victor thought for a few seconds when he was asked to describe this man. He remembered quickly. Things before the gap were rather easy to remember. His pause came from the fact that he wasn't sure if he should bring it up. Eventually he decided to. "Well..... He looked like a scarecrow. In a way." He said in an awkward manner. "I can't really remember if I saw his face or not...." It wasn't that he wasn't trying or that he didn't want to remember. He wanted nothing more then to remember.
He then remembered that there was indeed someone there with him. "There was someone..... I think it was that girl.... I forget her name but she sounded like the one on the radio." He said. "Well at least I think it was." He said with effort trying to clearly remember the sound of her voice.
He half expected to be laughed at. But he decided that he should finish answering her question. But again it was hard to for some reason. "Do I really have to tell you?" He asked. Hoping that he didn't really have to. But deep down he had a strong feeling that he would have too.

As he answers her questions, Iris is silent but very attentive, though her pen doesn't go back to her notebook this time. His answer may be very vague, but being able to give even a few details without any leading statements is a good sign that he's not making it up. And she doesn't need to note down things that she's already well aware of. "Do you remember what the girl looked like?" she asks curiously, probing for just a little more.
And when he hesitates to answer her last question, she pauses for a moment before commenting, "Victor, when someone is found in the way you were, people wonder about your mental well-being. My job is to figure out if you're okay and what you need if you're not. So if you're fine, you should answer my questions because I'll see that. And if you're not, you should answer my questions because I will help you fix that. If you don't answer, that makes everything more difficult, though I do understand if it's simply too difficult. Okay?" So, in other words, no he doesn't have to tell her. It's more that he ought to if he's able.
And after she finishes explaining that she's silent again, patiently waiting for however he chooses to respond to that. If what he's saying is true, he's been through a rather traumatic experience and, knowing how hard it must be for him to talk about, she's only going to put so much pressure on him to be open with her.

When asked if he remembered what the girl looked like he had to think abit. After all that had happened alot of the smaller details were a blur. So instead of trying to remember anything small about the girl he tried to remember anything that stood out. "Well.... Her hair... She must've died it because it was an orangeish color" He said after a moments thought.
Victor listened to her talk. He noticed that she used his first name. It helped him abit, having someone talk to him in this manner went along way towards helping him regain control of his nerves. But not far enough for him to have complete control of them. He was still worried about what had happened in that gap in his memory. "I might be starting to question my mental state." He said softly as he thought.
He looked at his hands as he tried to work up the will to finish retelling what he remembered. He saw that they were shaking. He tried to get them to stop but nothing he did would make them stop. He eventually took a deep breath and spoke. Still looking at his hands. "I was alone." He said weakly. "Completely and totally alone.... No signs of anyone.. Not even sound." Then he looked back up at Dr. Ledford. "And my uncle abandoned me." That was the part that caused him the most trouble. The idea of being abandoned by someone and them never returning. He didn't know why that was a fear of his. All he knew was that it was.

When he comments on his own doubts about his mental state, Iris actually smiles a little. "I'd take that as a good sign. Usually the people who question their mental state the least are the ones who should question it the most," she comments, hoping that helps put him a little bit more at ease. And it's true enough - it's definitely the most deeply disturbed of the patients that are the most insistent that they're perfectly normal. Or, more often, that they've achieved something that is above normal, and that explains any differences in the way that they think.
Her pen comes out again as he explains what he saw and felt, her lips pursing in thought as she writes only a few words. Then she glances back up at him as she quietly says, "That's fine, Victor, thank you." She knows that must have been very hard for him to say, so she's quick to let him know that even that brief description is very appreciated.
So much so that she only pauses for a moment before she purposely takes his mind away from it. "If what you're saying is true, I can tell you exactly what happened. The Scarecrow, real name Jonathan Crane, is among the first rogues to appear in Gotham. He's more than a little obsessed with studying fear. The young woman with him was kidnapped by him several days ago. Her name is Heather Glass, but called herself VerMillion on the radio - and it's good that you can verify that she's alive. It's not normal for him to keep someone he kidnaps for long, but she's not been seen since, dead or alive. He must have a different purpose for her than the usual. Usually his purpose is to experiment on the people that he takes, injecting them with something called fear toxin. That drug causes people to hallucinate nothing short of their deepest fear. But it also normally ends up causing the person's death or they end up in a significantly worse mental state than what you seem to be in," she explains, trying to keep it brief but without omitting important details that she'd want if the situation was reversed.

Victor was still trying to get his hands to stop shaking. So it was a sign that he was sane because he was thinking he was going insane? He mulled that idea over in his head for a few seconds before he noticed that She was explaining what she knew. He tried to say something lighthearted but he couldn't find anything to say.
"So will this stop?" He asked indicating his shaking hands. The fact that Lupin wasn't being very active didn't help him out. As a matter of fact it made things abit worse for him. In all honesty at the moment he didn't care who this Scarecrow is. He just wanted to know what happened.
"I don't remember much after that." He said weakly. He looked at her with a slightly pleading look in his eyes. He desperately wanted to know what happened during that gap in his memory.

The question he asks when she finishes explaining what she can causes Iris to give him a small, sympathetic smile. "Even without all the facts it's clear that you went through something very traumatic. Give yourself some time before you start worrying about how you're handling it," she advises in response to his question. She can't really answer it directly anyway - everyone copes with trauma differently, and his case already seems unique on top of that.
And there's a long pause when he looks at her with such questioning eyes. "That's another thing that may improve with time. Maybe you're simply not ready to remember - the mind does many things to protect itself when something bad is happening, and repressing memories is one way. But many of the ways the mind naturally uses are bad in the long run; many mental illnesses are caused by that. But that's where I come in," she responds, giving him an encouraging smile.
She knows that it much be horribly disconcerting to find yourself in a mental institution, but she hopes that her words can offer him the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel. She can already tell that he's doing quite well for one of Crane's 'patients', so she's happy to let him know that it's okay to be optimistic here. For all she knows, it's perfectly justified.

When she says that he shouldn't worry about how he's coping at the moment Victor looks down at his hands. They were still shaking. He was also feeling a cold feeling running along his spine. He looked at Dr. Ledford "I hope this stops" He said.
He saw her smile and felt abit better. If she was smiling then maybe things were going to turn out ok? "So your saying that I can't remember anything because my mind doesn't want to remember?" He asked trying to wrap his head around that concept. He had heard of that before. But hearing about it and experiencing it are two totally different things.
He looked back to his hands to back to Dr. Ledford. "I'll be as helpful as I can.. I guess." He said. He was still feeling strange being here. He wanted to know what had happened. Mostly because he was afraid he had hurt someone during that gap in his memory.
