Nina doesn't mind Allen's apparent skepticism. He may have known Edward a lot longer than she has, but he wasn't there for all of those little private moments she's had with Edward. While she doesn't believe that it's completely impossible that a situation would come up where Edward would hurt her again, somewhere along the line he managed to regain enough of her trust for her to believe that it's extremely unlikely.
Whether and how long their relationship will continue is a completely different issue. She's noted a few troubling signs, but she can't dwell on them. Nothing ever seems to just 'settle' for Edward, and given just how reluctant he is to talk about how he feels about her that question remains a vast murky cloud of unknowns. She can only move forward into that unknown and hope that it lasts a very long time since she just can't picture ever not wanting him in her life. When she starts to question whether that will be the case she gets such a horrible feeling that she can't help but tell herself that it won't happen. No, Edward loves her. It may have been awhile since he said so, but there's been recent ample evidence that he still cares.
But she's just as happy as Allen seems to be about the change of topic, and she quickly texts her assistant back with their location. As she does so, she smirks a little at what Allen calls her. It has not escaped her attention that Allen seems to like her assistant, or that the feeling seems to be mutual. What she hasn't been able to determine, mostly because Shawty has never brought up Allen and asking more directly would feel like prying, is the exact definition of the word 'like' in their case. Of course, her assistant's personal life is none of her business, but that doesn't stop her from being curious or having suspicions.
"She is that," Nina agrees, "Maybe a little too much, sometimes." Especially if what Shawty told her happened while she was unconscious is any indication. She understands that everyone was having a bad day, but she'd warned Shawty enough times to be careful with Edward that she'd thought it would have gone a lot smoother than that. If only she'd woken up sooner she might have been able to play peacekeeper. While she's mulling that over her phone vibrates in her hand and she looks at it. 'Yes, a strip club - Allen's idea' she texts back as she says, "She'll be here in five."

Allen, not being the most observant person in the world, doesn't even notice that Nina's actually thinking about what he said. He's far too distracted that cutie pie is going to be here. Yes, finally a person who can actually make this job of babysitting worth something.
"Nah, never enough," Allen said with a huge friendly grin. He really liked the girl. He didn't enjoy that he had to point his gun at her on a few occasions, but he never would shot to kill when it came to her. He guessed she probably knew that too, which is why she didn't find it threatening. Then again she has a ton of spunk and might not find any weapon at her face threatening.
Wow, Allen's mood just drastically improved. He didn't need the strippers to cheer him up. Then again...he watched as a woman pulled off her top and rubbed against the pole. A stripper could never make your day bad either.
"Boss gonna be mad, ya know?" he stated, but knew this woman didn't care. He never would understand why the Boss actually put up with her not listening when he didn't put up with anyone else. It didn't make sense. Whatever, he didn't care. Shawty was coming in less then five!

Nina smiles lightly at Allen's response. She likes Shawty's spunk, but showing that much to Edward was... not wise. Then again, Edward did bring it upon himself trying to shoot her. If only they'd met under better circumstances. Then again, Edward's automatic assumption that she can't do anything right, including picking a good assistant, stacked the deck against Shawty pretty badly to begin with. At least everyone's still alive.
"I know," Nina says with a frown, trying not to pay attention to the fact that Allen's eyes are on something going on behind her, "Which is why I'm not planning on mentioning this to him. As far as I'm concerned, he lost any right to any updates on what Shawty is up to the day that he thought that he had the right to tell me who I could hire. He can find out on his own, or not at all." Her lips purse slightly before she adds, "Besides, I don't know if she would have stayed in Gotham even if I'd ordered her to. She doesn't think I'm safe here."
One of the ways that Nina and Edward are quite the opposite: he demands for his employees to follow his every word exactly, while Nina is completely comfortable with the idea that Shawty can and will act for herself. She trusts the young woman to act in her interests, even if ordered to do otherwise. And she believes that Shawty is capable of figuring out when that is. Edward would never do such a thing, even if his life depended on it.

Allen listened to the words with bare interest. He was far too excited to see Shawty then he was to be listening to this chick's rambling. It also amazed him how carelessly she acted towards his boss. It would get her killed. Boss had a temper that compared to a spoiled child. If he found out about Shawty coming he would lose his shit like he always did when he didn't have control. Allen didn't particularly care as much because he knew most of the blame would be put on the girl and not him.
He also liked the girl, so the risk was worth it to him. He smiled thinking of the spunky kid, even though she wasn't a kid. It reminded him of his close friend back on the farm. She was loud and brave. She climbed every tree she saw. Allen loved that type of spunk and go getter attitude. It was like nothing could stand in there way. He admired it, probably because there always seemed to be a lot in his way.
"I won't tell the Boss nothin'. It's still your risk," he remarked.
He patted his hands on the table in an uncomfortable fidget. "When she going to get here?" he asked again. He wanted her here now. It had been so long since Allen felt like he had a good smile and laugh, and he knew the girl could give it to him.

Nina frowns slightly at Allen's remark, saying, "No, it's Shawty's risk." Because that's who would end up killed, not her. The worst she'd expect Edward to direct at her is another bad argument. Which she actually does dislike enough to avoid when she can, but there are a few exceptions to that and Shawty is one of them. How Edward could object to an increase in her personal safety, she'll never know. But he's always too quick to throw around blame for everything.
She looks mildly amused when Allen asks how much longer it will be, and she finds herself once again debating the definition of the word 'like'. But she pulls out her phone again and compares the time stamp of her last message to the time on the phone. "One more minute, according to the clock," she answers. Were she any other place she's start glancing at the doorway at this point, but she's not particularly interested in looking around too much in a place like this.
At it happens, Shawty arrives a bit earlier than she predicted and appears in the doorway around the same time that Nina is slipping her cellphone back into her pocket. Unlike her boss, she seems completely unbothered by the venue and goes right to a quick scan for Dr. Stenet and Allen. Fortunately, the big guy is not difficult to spot and she gives him a small smile as she walks over. "Fancy running into you guys here," she comments with a smirk to them both as she picks a seat next to Dr. Stenet, reflexively assuming a protective position. That the seat will make it easier to see Allen is just a bonus.
Nina smiles as she glances over at the familiar voice. She suddenly feels a lot better herself, though she's not quite sure why. "How was your flight?" she asks.
"Don't ask," Shawty says instantly, making a face. Not good, apparently.

The comment about whose risk it was went indifferent to Allen. He knew how the boss was like, and if she didn’t want to believe him, it was her choice. A choice he really didn’t care about. He also knew Shawty was a girl who could protect herself, so she wasn’t that worried of the Boss taken her out. He just tended to have his tantrum and move on.
When a perky snarky voice entered, Allen had a full Cheshire grin. He sat up a bit straighter as she moved across from him. As always, she was looking like her cute self. “Good thing ya here, sweetcheeks. I think ya boss was gettin’ tired of pretendin’ that she cared about the stuff I was sayin’” he said with a playful smirk.
A stripper came up to their table and asked the new woman if she wanted anything to drink. Allen didn’t look at the woman in little clothing. He was too excited to see the spit fire across from him, and with his Boss not around it meant he didn’t have to try and kill her today. That fact could easily change tomorrow, but as of right now, this was safe territory.

Allen's grin is met with a small smile from Shawty. She's probably just as glad to see him, but she's just not that much of a smiler. Though it gets slightly bigger at his comment about Dr. Stenet. "I'm sure she'd be more friendly if you weren't treating her like shit," she comments, quickly clarifying, "I mean, I... well I don't care. I probably look better naked than most of these women anyway. But Dr. Stenet..."
"No, Shawty, I'm fine," Nina insists. Okay, so maybe she is still very uncomfortable and Shawty talking about it is making it worse, but she's dealing with it. She's quite capable of being a mature adult about this!
"No you're not," Shawty says instantly, dismissing Dr. Stenet's protest before turning back to Allen, "She doesn't like it. So bringing her here counts as treating her like shit. And she deserves better." But though Shawty's tone is firm, indicating that she very much means what she's saying. On the other hand, her smile hasn't shrunk even a little bit, hinting that she's also teasing Dr. Stenet about it somewhat. "And I'll have some coffee, black," she tells the waitress. Some caffeine would be sooo good right now.
Nina has now been rendered speechless, more than a little embarrassed by Shawty's words if she's being honest with herself. She covers her face with her hands and forces herself to take a deep breath. Then she bursts out laughing. "I missed you, Shawty," she says after the initial burst is over, hands still over her face, and then she cracks up again.
