Last time the tamaranean princess was in Gotham seemed so many lifetimes ago. Yet even for the split second she had returned, not much had really changed. It still loomed with that darkness that hardly any other city could match. Though despite which loomed, it still felt like the home of the bat. Dark usually followed. As Kory flew over the city roofs. It was just past noon, with winter just beginning to really hit the city. Kory was immune to the cold to a degree, yet still felt the tips of her fingers just below average. It had been maybe far too long and yet the moment she had felt Earth, she was back home. Her first mission was to find her friends. There is still debate who found whom first. As it didn't take her long to meet up with Donna Troy. Her real sister. It was very sweet reunion, but short lived as there was someone very much of the alien's mind. Nightwing. There was much time spend pondering as Donna filled her in on a recent incident which caused a lot of damage. Donna was short lived on the details, but that it was best for Dick to be the one to tell Kory. There was something Donna was keeping which led Kory to Gotham. Dick Grayson was still very much important to Kory. It probably fall on def ears to really say how much she had missed him, but from what Donna said. Kory simply needed to be here for Dick. In which Kory could do for now. He was her greatest friend.
To say she wasn't nerved to now be at entrance of Wayne Manor. This was home of the Batman. Whom Kory respected, but didn't always liked. Then there were all these past months that had separated her from Dick Grayson. There was no real telling whether he'd be overly joyed to see her, but she very much wished it. Though there was a beam in her heart when her hand made to rattle at the door. She had contemplated the whole time she was gone if she would forget some small detail or his face would become lost in her mind. Everyday she made sure to think of him from time to time. She smiled softly as her eyes motioned down with her hand. She was sure he was still very vivid. How could she forget her Robin. Though her smile faded as she in no way knowing just how bad his condition was. Though she was here now and hopefully just in time as well. She felt so out of the loop. Perhaps it was hopeful thinking that when she had returned, little had changed. She wore more casual attire for now. Jeans. A long warm tailors coat of a pale pink. Her red locks draped over her shoulders and back in waves of fire. She smiled brightly as Alfred opened the door. It was rather nice to see another familiar face. Alfred was always incredibly kind to her. It caused a little rush of emotions as little had changed about him. There was excitement to see Dick. Despite her concern to this state he was in, she couldn't hide the fact she hadn't seen him for so long. Now with everything gone. Tamaran gone. All she had now was Earth. Her family. What has happened? Where is everyone? There was things to be asked and things to be answered. As Alfred greeted Kory with extreme kindness. That only caused her to beam brighter. She could tell in the glimmer of his eyes he knew why she was here. Who else would she be here to see? With the little bubbled up excitement didn't leave Kory much at the door as hugged Alfred rather tightly. Before a faint kiss on the cheek.
"Greetings Alfred. It is so good to see you. How have you been? Would you please let Dick know he has a visitor?"
Kory spoke overly kind to Alfred. Whom was only kind back answering as he offered her come inside as he went to get Dick. In which Kory winked to alfred about telling Dick he had a visitor. Although back tracking perhaps surprising him may cause more damage. She highly doubt it. As waited near the entrance. Feeling suddenly very small as her green orbs looked around her. It was always a place so out of reach, but it did have some kind of touch. It was just that question, was it home. That Kory couldn't tell so much. Now Titans Tower, now that was a home. In fact even then, it didn't matter where they were there was a home with simply being a titan. One always had a home, a family. Kory just wasn't overly sure why they weren't together. She was not sure she was prepared to see Dick in ill shape. Knowing him she was sure it may not be over night she knows exactly what happened. For now she was simply just happy to be able to see him again. To make sure she did not forget him. As she waited to hear those familiar footsteps coming to greet her. Feeling the thudding of her heart as she had missed him far too much.

Dick had been in the wreck room when he had heard Alfred coming down the hall. He was sitting on one of the long couches at the far end of the room working away on his computer. His computer system linked to the Batcave's main computer. He had been digging through recent work of the Dark Knight.
He wasn't about to just waste his one day off sleeping in and doing nothing. There was always something to do. Even if he wasn't out on patrolling yet because he was still on the mend. Though the time was getting closer and closer to finally being able to go out on the streets again.
Sitting around wasn't exactly his idea of relaxing. After being through rehab for his recovery to move quicken, he was getting tired of the down time that he could be spending on the streets of Gotham as Nightwing.
Yet, there he sat as Alfred informed him that he had a visitor. Alfred didn't say who it was. But by the look in his eyes, it was definitely a good friend of his. If it had been Barbara, she would have invited herself in and come to him right away.
Dick thanked Alfred for informing him and got up from his spot on the couch. He closed down his files on the computer and locked them so no other systems could get a hold of them. He stood up, stretching a bit as he did. A small twinge of pain coming from his still healing ribs. Dick walked out and into the hall and headed for the main stairwell that would lead to the main entrance of Wayne Manor.
It was still taking Dick a while to get around, but he didn't waste much time wondering who it might be. He still had a bit of a limp to his walk to his left leg. Dick was glad that he was finally able to get around without being in so much pain.
As soon as he came around the corner and down toward the steps, he caught sight of a familiar head of fiery red hair. A slight look of surprise came to his face at the sight of the woman that was now standing in Wayne Manor. A bit of a smile came to his lips as he quickened his pace to get down the steps.
He was still going easy though as to not bother any healing injuries. "Kory, what are you doing here?" Those were the only words that came out at first. He thought she was back on her home planet. Last he had heard was that she had been getting married when she had left to got back home. Back at the time it had been hard news for Dick. He cared deeply for the woman that stood before him.
There was something within him that was ignited again when he saw her. Just like old time of being around her. They knew just about everything about each other and more. They shared something special. Something Dick could never ignore or deny. But was held back. He had moved on a while ago. Though she was still one f his best and most trusted friends.
He got down to the bottom of the steps and walked up to her, stopping short. He didn't rush into anything because of the worry over his healing ribs. "You're looking well. It's great to see you," he started as looked her over a bit as he had been coming toward her. Taking in her familiar tall, tan body and long red hair. "How have you been?"

Her hair flowed around her in red flames, it would stand out in the darken manor. As Kory's hands toyed at a statue just beside her. Of course being careful as not to shatter it, as her finger traced it ever so faintly. Had this been here last time? It seemed new. Then she hardly spent time in this place and it still all felt much like the batcave to her. It had the looming feeling, but there was a touch of home. Somewhere. Was it like the tower? She highly doubt it, but that was entirely different. That was home. Or was it? As her lips curled to the thudding of feet behind her. Letting out the breath that was caught, he was here. He was just so close. She suddenly smiled brighter as his steps quickened, feeling her heart thud just a little in zinc. As she motioned to see him. It was that long wait. That she half questioned to look incase she had mistaken the sounds. The moment her eyes laid upon him, made it difficult to take them anywhere else. It was hard to say whether the tower was home. For she suddenly felt safe.
Her green eyes rang over him. Noted now the faint limb in his steps. Felt halted back as she couldn't help than rang with the idea to comfort him, but not knowing if she even could. She knew his protective nature. She knew if it had spun around and it was she that was injured. She had a faint idea as to what he would do. How he would react. She was half reacting the same, but for now not listening to it. For the last thing he would want his an over amount of pity, which she did not have. She knew his strength even when beaten, but she also knew when he need such things even if he would never ask of it. So he wouldn't always feel so alone. Her eyes frowned in the middle as he questioned her being here? Before it disappeared. She was sure he meant in the larger sense. On Earth? As the question why she was here before him was clear as day for her. He didn't know she hadn't much else to go, but in truth there was hardly anywhere else she would truly wish to be.
"Dick... I came to see you, Donna told me where to find you and that something happened... Dick, Tamaran is gone, Everything is Gone. Earth's my home now, I half expect it always has been. Forgive me, I needed to see you. I missed you. The titans and you are all the family I have now."
Kory spoke as her voiced heightened as she told him, she came to see him. He was always the first she would wish to ever see. As she did, she was glad his memory hadn't faded so much. She stepped a little towards him as she mentioned Donna and that she had said something was up. As Kory now looked at his limb. Kory's gut feeling that something was wrong, was right. She just didn't know why. What happened. As her eyes motioned over him with concern. Then she answered what he really meant by his words. Why she was on earth. She felt her throat caught a little after she said Tamaran is gone. It was enough for now. As her eyes almost looked sad, her chest felt a little in shock, but she had survived worse than this. This was nothing she couldn't overcome. Still it took some mourning. Her voice then settled a little smoother as she spoke of earth now as her home. As her eyes looked upon the man that struck her from the first moment she was even on earth. She spoke simply for now from the friend that was inside her and to the friend she knew was in him. Her family. As her lips smiled. Just glad to finally being seeing him before her. Not listening to the deeper desires that for her kind never die. She would always love him. She just wasn't expecting anything more, for now all she needed was him. In any way she could. There was a hint he had moved on mixed with that glimmer in his eyes, which gave her hope. Her lips smiled. She would wait for him for as long as she could.
Her eyes shifted with the emotions within as he motioned closer. Before he got to a spot and stopped. Feeling the need to reach out to him, which she fought a little. As he spoke. Which her lips softened. Feeling his eyes upon her every inch. As if to make sure his own image of her hadn't changed. There was a possibility he was seeing something more, but perhaps he had just missed her. With that she breathed deeply. As she looked upon him and felt comforted by his heart. The sound of his voice. She was left without words. As she couldn't stand this distance. Closing the last steps. To embrace him in her arms. She knew there had been things that had torn them apart last time, but it had been so long. In the end the friendship mattered the most. She was careful with offering a hug with more gentleness.
"I'm well enough. My people, my planet exploded. Its not something I can so easily forget, but I'm alive. I'm home... Will you tell me what happened?"
Kory replied as she motioned back from the embrace. She liked the closeness though. She suddenly didn't feel so alone as she mentioned how Tamaran had exploded. Not something she herself needed pity for, she was alive. That was a good thing in some way. She would not let Earth die the same way. Where she was unable to help Tamaran she could help Earth. She shifted a little as she looked over him. He was injured. She smiled as her eyes dropped for a moment. Not surprised despite it he was still trying. Even in the moments where he had thought to quit for whatever reason, she knew the strength he had within him. Even without the super strength she had, there was just something in him that she just did not have. She then questioned him about it. She needed to know. It half made her forget all that had happened to Tamaran. Kory was the type that moved on. Forgave. She didn't forget, but she didn't regret either. As she reached out her hand to chest, before Alfred interrupted with food that had been prepared. Which she smiled. It could make up for the date she was unable to make. As her hand then faintly brushed his cheek. Before retreating her hand. She really had missed him. She was sure he missed her, it was just not telling how much.
"I've not had human food for far too long. You know I somewhat missed it. Which reminds me, when you've got more stable legs. Perhaps we can revisit the carnival. I've not had candied cotton in sometime... Is it alright for me to stay for lunch? You can fill me in on what's happened since I left. Why your in Gotham? and What happened with the Titans?"
Kory expressed rather happily at the notion of food. A place to settle and sit. Perhaps Alfred knew the drill so to speak. It had been sometime since she had food on earth. Suddenly felt like her stomach ached for it. Which it was rather something. Perhaps she was home. Her her light hearted comment of carnivals and cotton candy. Was just now a hint she wasn't wishing to depart so suddenly and there was maybe more catching up to be had in a few ways. Though hardly expecting to make it sound like a date. To merely be anywhere around him now was more than enough, to just have a little taste of her friend. Her family. Her home. For despite being 'home', she still felt a little she had been gone perhaps to long. A little misguided.

Dick at first wasn't happy at the mention that the Titans seemed to be still talking about his little run in. It was still a sour subject, but thanks to Bruce it was passing. But it was still something he wished he could forget. Unfortunately, the scars would never let him. They would only be adding to the past tales that the other scars on his body told.
But then, Dick's mind was drawn away from that train of thought as she spoke of her home planet being gone. Dick was some what in a shock over the news. He couldn't believe what she had just said. He just couldn't image the pain that she must be going through at this time after all that had happened. Dick didn't even want to think about it. And he wasn't going to ask how unless she wanted to talk about it.
Dick knew how sore a subject could be when you had just lost everything you had once known. It was never easy. And it took time to heal. But her situation quite different. She was talking about a whole planet being gone. Dick was silent for a while.
"Kory...I'm sorry...I don't know what to say," Dick replied over hearing the news. But he knew she was trying to push through it and look for a brighter side to things. She always did.
And as she came closer and embraced him in a gentle hug, she must have picked up on the injuries because of his movement as he had come into the room. Dick dropped his normal defenses of not being one to really embraces a hug such as this, but couldn't help himself. This was Kory. His best friend. A girl he once loved, and still did.
He brought his arms up and embraced her as well and pulled her closers into a tighter brace for a moment. This was his way of saying more of a sorry for her lose. It was never easy to put things like that into words. And he didn't want to open any sore subjects about it if she was still feeling the heat of it all.
He backed off once she had let go and started down another path. Something he knew was not going to be easily forgotten. Dick looked at her. He knew she wanted to know. He knew she cared for him. And time was healing his wounds as well on the inside and out.
"It's a long story. Not something I like to go into great detail on though," Dick replied at first. Trying to leave it at that for the moment. When she put her hand on his chest for a moment and then brushed against his cheeks, the memories came flooding back of their time together.
Their time together was something Dick could never forget. They had been through so much. it was always hard to face someone you loved and being with another. But they understood they were just best friends. Though there were moments where it felt like something was tell them otherwise from their past.
Then Alfred stepped in. The guy always had great timing. Dick was a bit relieved for the moment to not have to go into the discussion of the events that had taken place. But he felt guilty for holding back after hearing what she had gone through even with the slight explanation.
Dick gave a slight smile at Kory's reaction to when Alfred walked in with some food. She never ceased to amuse Dick over the smallest of things. Just another one of those things he loved about her. And at her words, he have a look of being insulted for a moment and then replied, "When I get more stabled legs? What's that suppose to mean? I haven't felt better in my life. I could run a marathon like this if I had to. And you know I would try." A sly smile came to his face as he joked around with her knowing what she meant.
It was good to have someone there to help cheer him up. Alfred was good company when it came to wanting a stimulating conversation. And Jason was always willing to pick a fight or was one comment away from storming out or going off to find something better to do. And Bruce...well, that was like talking to a stone wall at times, Though it never stopped Dick from trying.
"Yeah, sure. We'll have to make plans then," Dick replied. "And you are more than welcome to stay for lunch. I'm not about to send you away after not seeing you in so long."
Dick looked over at Alfred and then at Kory again. "Did you want to just hang out in the lounge or would you rather be in the dining room," he gave her the choice. He was fine with either. But he was more the type to just hang out with friends that dropped by to visit rather than being all formal. "Once we take a seat, I'll fill you in on what has been going on," he replied to her.

There wasn't a great amount of surprise as she could tell he wasn't overly thrilled with Donna having mentioned Dick, although to be fair Donna knew Kory was seeking him out moments before speaking. Only where Dick was unhappy Kory was still unaware of what had happened. There was distance still even if she was snap back in the midst of it all. Kory couldn't understand, had she not been forced away. Would things still change or would it had stayed much the same? There was no real point to dwell. Kory was here now with Dick, things could be worse.
Her eyes lowered as Dick rang blank at the mentioning of her planet, more no planet. The mere shock hit inside her of tears and screams she had shed so many weeks ago. For time in space was not the same on earth, but then when does one really recover from an entire planet exploding. Kory was a warrior she had the instinct to survive. Though strong enough to move on, there still were moments it hit reality. It was something to share this and another to see the pain in Dick's eyes. Even through the space she suddenly felt encased with his understanding. There was hope if he held any blame for her, he suddenly forgave her. A light green tear ran down her cheek and then another. One for all she had lost and the one she had saved for Dick. Her lips carefully smiled as her head turned to the side. As Dick seemed to be carefully thinking not to harm her in his ways or words. Only she wanted to shake him, he didn't need the right thing to say. Being here was all she was seeking.
"They don't exactly make a sorry your planet exploded card.. So I'd say there probably isn't the right thing to say, but your here that's more than enough. It doesn't hurt me to talk about it Dick. The hard emotions are just expected I can't ignore them as much as I can't ignore what happened.I don't have to look far to be reminded of Tamaran, I am Tamaran. Although the image of it exploding I don't believe I'll ever forget..."
Kory responded to his honesty with some state of light hearted, she was open to tell him anything and everything, best to move on. She didn't want to run away from the emotions she needed to face them head on. She had survived so much, she chose life and that she needed to live. With a twinkle in her eyes as she very much could feel Tamaran inside her, as much Earth was in ways her home. Tamaran was always a part of her. With the images of what Tamaran once was, soon changed to images of the explosion. As her voice lowered as she told him this. Before retreating her eyes back to him, happy for the image replacement.
Then with all that said, she was soon lost in his embrace. It had been far too long since she felt his arms around her. Her cheeks blushed with a silent laugh. It was almost like putting two puzzle pieces together. It just fit. This was needed. On either end. There was the feeling of love, but Kory just didn't care to question it. Not now, not yet. This was enough. As she gently sank into the embrace. Felt no where but with him. Home. Ran down a tear. As she mumbled 'finally'. Feeling the rising of her breath settle. Felt her heart swell as he hugged tighter, felt a few more tears spring of joy. This was in a way for him to make it all better and it was defiantly helping. As she planted her lips upon his cheek as a way to saying thank-you. He had missed her, there was something in that with all the people she had lost, her family. Dick was still probably the only one who truly knew her, it caused her to hug a little longer. She needed him in her world...
Then came the time to let him go for now. Her eyes frowned as he backed off. He was doing it again, shutting off. He would come so far, but Kory knew the patterns. She knew Dick's heart, the warmth he had and how greatly he cared for all around him. The one person he would forget was himself. She remembered vividly how long it took for him to be honest to how he felt about her. He had it all, everything inside him, he just needed to be reminded of it. He was stronger than he gave himself credit, probably more so and she is the one with super strength. There was a reason he was the leader of the Titans. A great leader.
"Don't do that Dick, I'm not just anyone. You don't need to be alone in this... If its that difficult, just tell me what you can. I have the time."
She wasn't about to let him forget who she was. How much they had been through. In all she would hope he would trust in her. Seeing the pain in his eyes, she knew letting it out was best, but what ever small he could muster would be enough. She wasn't here to judge him. Just to be here for him. The last thing she needed was to feel even more disconnected. She smiled as her hand brushed his cheek, caught whatever it was he was keeping from her and felt just for a moment he was coming back to her. There was no way she could love him any less, no matter what form it lent itself to. She accepted it. He was her soul mate, she simply needed him in her world.
Then the food arrived. Felt the rumbling of her stomach. She caught the relief in Dick's expressions, but she wasn't gonna let him avoid it forever. She was pleased to see him smiling, so there was some joy to be had in him. Which meant there was still hope. There was always hope. So she leaves, comes back with him wrapped in mystery and a sense of humour? Her eye brow raised.
"Unfortunately I do know and how many times resulted in me carrying you? Huh? You really don't need to run a marathon, I think I've seen enough in battle to know."
Kory responded amusingly as she brought up the numerous times for varies reasons she carried him. After all Dick could only fly so well, it just made it easier to just take him with her. She smiled as he was perhaps a little embarrassed, which she still didn't understand why, but she poked him with it now. Though then expressed she knew him well enough to know just how tough he was. She saw him in all different stages, so if anyone knew it was her. There was no sense to give up in his bones, nor her own. She had bravery only matched by if not succumbed by his own. She was half getting an idea as Dick spoke of plans and her thought of flight. As her eyes looked around. Did he really want to be here? It was home, but she knew how restraining Bruce could be for him. How Dick tried and hardly ever worked. Bruce was always cold in Kory's opinion. No real joy.
"Brilliant, I can do the flying then. I think we have a lot to catch up on, least I do. You helped guide me on Earth before, just think it as revisiting... Although this could call for a fancy special occasion, it is only us Dick I think we're past the trying to impress stage. The lounge will be perfect. You make it sound there's a lot to tell me, best we go eat then... Did we even have a dining table at the tower? Most of the time was spent on the couch or the kitchen table. If there was a dining table I think we clearly missed it. "
Kory beamed at his response to hanging out down the track. Which probably be sooner if she could help it, she could carry him if it would make it easier. Although with so much time spent away there was maybe a lot to catch up on. She smiled as he let her stay. She never could imagine he would send her away, hmmm, never had before she was sure about that. Not that she's exactly easy to be chased off. Wow, a choice? Here Kory just was thinking of the food and Dick himself. As she with her awaited return could be means to celebrate, fancy wasn't her style either. Just food and friends really was enough. She then kindly chose the lounge. It be least more comfortable. Her eyes darted over his as he said he'd fill her in once seated, she took it as a motion to go eat. That perhaps he was contemplating on telling her. From how he put it there was probably plenty to tell her. As she then followed Alfred and much the food with her nose. Towards the lounge as she amusingly commented to Dick as she never remembered seeing a dining table at the tower. She was sure if there had been it had been vastly over looked. It certainly wasn't missed, but she did miss the titans.

"I understand," Dick replied to her before they parted. He knew what it was like to got through losing everything. But a planet was different compared to losing a family. But in a way it was like losing your own world. These things could not be compared. To some people they saw it differently and to others it was just an understand. Dick had been there for others who had lost everything.
And the one thing he knew was, it was never something one could go through alone. It was best to have friends there to help you through a hard time. Going through something alone might be alright for a time, but it can cause so many problems down the road. If it hadn't been for Bruce taking him in, who knows what could have happened to him. His life had changed for the better. He did in a way had the chance to see what fighting something alone can turn someone into. Bruce may be an example of that, but Bruce wasn't alone now. He had Alfred, Jason. and him now. And sometimes it was easy to see that it was best for Bruce to have someone fighting along side of him. Hence the Bat-family was what it was.
Dick knew he was going to have to answer to Kory. This was not something he could hide from her. He was just getting over it. It would be good for him. Even Barbara knew a bit about it at this time. Jason had learned through Bruce, but not everything. There were some things best left alone. He had gone through what ha been causing him trouble. He had battled it on his own and quite a bit with Bruce's help. But something were best to have battled and moved on.
He would tell her of it a bit. It did not hurt so much any more to explain such an event. But it was still a painful memory, Less of a reality as time went out. He was looking forward. He wasn't going to look back. But he was not going to forget.
At Kory's mention of having to fly him around many times when they had been working together, a bit of embarrassment came to his face. He remembered all those times. It wasn't necessarily a bad embarrassment, it was more or less the embarrassment of needing such help. But Dick was only human and could not fly. Unlike his teammates...But he didn't let that stop him from keeping up. After all Dick had been trained by Batman and he had proven himself time and time again more than able to keep up with the aliens and metahumans. Even Bruce was able to challenge the most unfair oddest against him when it came to dealing with metahumans and aliens. It wasn't all about strength and powers. The mind was most certainly a powerful thing.
"Yeah, I remember," Dick replied as he rubbed the back of his head with his right hand. The old nervous habit of his. Sometimes going unnoticed to himself. "Though I'm not saying that I'm complaining about it. You do what you have to at time."
Dick was glad for a change of pace in the place. It was nice to have an old friend of his to have around from the Titans. Someone who understood more of that side of his life as well. Barbara knew of it, but it was different between the teammates. They were like a second family to him. It was a part of him he could never forget. And he would always be there to help them when needed. Just like they had always been through out their time together. And now even through their time apart.
Dick couldn't help but smile and almost laugh at her comment over a dining room table. He looked at her. "There was a dining room table at one point. It was just usually cover with a collect of junk half the time. Though I think we lost it at one time with someone's rough housing. Either that or because of the new gear Cyborg would bring up to show us. And if it was, I'm sure Gar had something to do with the destruction of it as well," he couldn't help but laugh at remembering all the times some of their teammates would get into the most ridiculous fights.
Then again, Dick couldn't say he hadn't been in a few of those little battles. Raven was usually the most level headed at getting them to stop. That and Kory. But between most of the guys on the team when they had first started out, it had been a bit rough at time.
Dick kept up even with the slight limp. He wasn't going to let that slow him down. Alfred had gotten ahead of them, giving them time to chat without him over hearing everything. But knowing Alfred he probably still could. He could hear someone stepping out of a car on the drive without even being at the front door. And yet he'd be there to get the door before you could each for the doorbell half the time.
When they got in there, Dick was not surprise to see that Alfred already had a few sandwiches and drinks out for from to help themselves. There were a few other things as well. It was always funny how well Alfred knew them all. Knowing what they wanted before you yourself knew what you wanted at times.
Dick sat down on one of the couches facing away from the windows. It was such a nice day out and the light was just flooding into the room through the large over-sized windows for the manor. Dick much liked his penthouse better with the windows lining the place on some sides, but at certain points of the day, the sun wasn't overly flooding the place with light at all times.
"Help yourself," Dick said as he sat down on a couch. It felt good to just sit back and relax. But he was anxious to get out on the streets again.

Kory offered a faint little hum of words when Dick said he understood. Her green starbolt eyes struck upon him believed his words. Surely it was a concept unthinkable. Though tragedy was just something unfortunately was much in Kory's life. In all she fought to survive and to live. There was no hero in her life she could really turn to save herself. When she came to earth well, she finally felt she truly belonged. Where her parents once abandoned her, her sister betrayed her and her entire planet banished her. She was loved and used in all kinds of directions. Her childhood stolen at 10 and enslaved, tortured by her own sister. Who hated Kory for having been born. Through it all Kory never gave up. It led her to find her real family. It led her to find Dick. In all that suffering and torment, she was able to find peace. After all she is a fighter not someone that surrenders.
With all this strength and bravery inside her. She never felt safer than when she was with Dick. As he was so close to the touch. Her fingers tingled slightly at the imprint of his touch. She was left to wonder had it been from the touch just moments ago or every moment they had. She smiled softly with the escape of her breath. Dick was there. Here. He cared a great deal. She half expected he cared greater than his own heart. Then there was the silence. As Kory watched him take her words with no word in sight. It was this that shook her. He was trying so hard to move on from something. She saw the look he gave her as if every image was flashing before his eyes. She needed to know what had caused such pain and why she still saw it. Not just in his limb but in his eyes. He needed to tell someone. For all that had come between them she would wish it be her. The one thing she did know was sometimes he can't be that easily pushed and she merely had to be here. She did not need to know for him to lean on her. As Kory then hugged him again and this time with more intent.
"I am here. I always was."
Kory said low in his ear. If all he needed was her to simply be here then she already was. As she finally let him go. Although half wanting to never do. She smiled to him. As her eyes then ran over him as the embarrassment washed over him about her flying him. Thinking it sweet he hadn't forgotten. Even if she didn't see anything to be embarrassed for. In fact on some occasions he even enjoyed it. It never made him less than a man. Defiantly not less of a hero. He was exceptional in every way. With some fabled moments she flew him, Dick had saved her life even more. Her smile brightened as he spoke. There. There it was. Honesty.
"Are you blushing, Dick? I think we can keep it between us that you enjoyed it... You have carried me and saved me enough times to make up for it. We were always unstoppable when we worked together. "
Kory sweetly pointed out which she did like that faint shade of pink as they moved into the lounge. While to her flying him was fun and well it meant he was close to her. She hardly could complain about that. If she remembered correctly she carried him when they weren't in battle. Her voice heightened with confidence as she was slipping back into earth a little easier than she thought. As the comfort of the lounge soon surrounded them, Kory was mainly just focusing on Dick. It was hard not to. She smiled as she turned to him as happily recalled how he had just as much helped her. There was that way in battle where they just worked in zinc it really was something and as she smiled just a little brighter. They were always stronger for it. They would always come out on top. No one knew her better on the field than this man, who knew just how much power she had and really made her a better fighter. There was parts of her powers she was vastly afraid of, it was only Dick that knew her full extent of her powers. Kory then half collapsed on the couch. A smile came as Dick's laughter brought such joy. She truly had missed his laugh. As her eyes motioned to him, she had surely missed his own smile as well.
"That was the dining table? Like a lot of things that you boys destroyed. It was always more fun on the couch anyways. Whether eating or game challenges. Or watching horror films, as Gar hid behind the couch... So why are we here again?"
Kory laughed with Dick's words, it felt only yesterday and she could see it all very vividly. She remembered several things cluttered, but she was sure she knew what table now. Rolling her eyes at the mentioning of the boys, but she knew the boys weren't always to blame. She laughed as she could recall Donna accidentally breaking things. The arm wrestles generally resulted in something breaking. Perhaps that was the dining table. Kory did step into the fights. Although when angered, Kory was known to throw things. Her nose crinkled as she smelt the bread, the sandwiches. If they were at the tower now, this would be gone in Flash. She smiled. As she questioned why they were here?
"Thanks. I defiantly will, these look sensational. While I am hungry, I can't eat it all, so I'll need help on that."
As she went straight for a sandwich to help chill her stomach, which almost made her stomach rumble even more. As she sat back in the couch beside him and relaxed. Taking her first bite and made to her stomach. She then eyed Dick softly as though her stomach was hungry, she was that hungry. As she then sank her teeth back into the sandwich. Lick her lips. As motioned her shoes off and sat in a position so best to really see Dick. It was a sight she hadn't seen for quite some time, so she was making up for it now. She could tell he wanted out here, but his body just wasn't there yet. She remembered the talks they had about the role of a hero. What they could and couldn't do. She always thought they were also meant to live. Having moments just like this, not just train day in day out. That they could have more. They could have friends. A family. A life.
"Would you least tell me something Dick? Its worrying me not knowing and I don't want to find out by someone else, I wouldn't go behind your back you know I wouldn't."
Kory's eyes focused on him with a little concern between her eyes as she chewed slowly before swallowing. With a breath she asked him. Just something. So she wouldn't feel out of the loop. Though the fact he was shut off did concern her, mostly because she did not know why. She didn't want to ask another, it wouldn't be the same nor was it right to do.

”Blushing? What are you talking about,” Dick said played coy. He knew every well that she had noticed. Kory never seemed to miss anything that ran by emotions or feelings. ”Yeah, we were, weren’t we?”
Dick sat back and watched her as she spoke. There was just something about her that always had away at putting him at ease. Something that always brought back all the good memories and helped him to forget about the problems he carried with him then and now.
”You know every well that weren’t not the only ones that have broken things around there,” Dick replied jokingly at her. Thought it could be every well that most of the guys have broken more than any of them at the tower. Who was to say? There was so much damaged and broken through the years, it would be hard to tell.
He smiled at her again at her question. ”I hate to say it sometimes, but things change. There were more responsibilities that grew over time,” Dick replied a little along the serious line, but still keeping the conversation all the kind hearted he could over the matter. There were a lot of things that changed over time for each teammate. Some had planets they had to go back to. Fall outs with the team over time. And others picking up new titles or responsibilities and moving on.
At her words, he reached forward and grabbed one of the sandwiches from off the tray, then took a few bites from it. Alfred always knew what to make. And when it came to any of his old teammates coming around, he tended to make the right amount. It was a good thing Wally wasn’t there or everything would have been gone in the first moment they stepped in through the door.
Dick could remember more than a few times when Alfred would be getting ready to set the food down and it would be gone before it hit the table. That was almost likely to happen when you had some one in the Flash family over. It was one of the things they did best beside running fast.
As Kory started asking more question, Dick became a little uneasy at the explanation he would have to give. But he couldn’t keep it from her. It wasn’t doing either of them any good by him holding back such a thing that had happened. What had happened happened. And he was moving on from it. Learning from it and becoming stronger. He put the sandwich down on a plate to the side.
His blue eyes swept over her. He knew her. He knew her concerns from him. She was someone he trusted dearly. Maybe more so than some others. But she knew him to well for him to keep any from her. She could read it on him. She always had a way of sensing even the smallest of changes about him. Which seemed to make it easier to talk with her at times.
”A lot has gone on since you were last around,” Dick replied. His tone becoming more serious. ”For the past few months, I’ve been somewhat out of commission as far as patrolling and work wise.” There was a change in his light heartedness from earlier. This was what he was hiding. But it was something he had been moving on from. Thanks to the help from a few people, he was finally letting it go. So it was much easier now than it had been a few months back to explain what had gone down. But he still didn’t like to have to go into much detail. It was his burden to bare, no something he wanted pity over.
Bruce had understood about that. He had helped him get through the mental torment of it all. To get him out of his state of silence over the events that he did not like to talk about. They had looked over it and helped him get through it. He was almost healed physically and mentally.
”There was just something that went down. Something that affected me a while back. But I’m doing much better since the time off and all. It was something that rattled Bruce as well. The Joker got out from Arkham. And targeted me for an attack,” Dick replied no emotion to his tone. But he was speaking of it. This was something he wouldn’t have done when someone would have asked him only a while back. It had even taken Barbara a while to get anything out of him.

Letting out a joyous laugh, almost feeling her eyes bubbled as Dick played coy with his set of rosy cheeks. Felt her back lean into the couch, she was usually joyous, but man she was feeling a whole different joy now. As if before there had been something missing which only he could feel. She wasn't one to be negative, but she sure needed this. To simply feel at home once again. That she really did belong somewhere. Turning her heard possibly to someone, which she half smiled coyly at herself and felt her heart warmed at the thought. Though all she needed was this. Her friend. This bond. What ever it was. She had helped lead him into the man he much was today, but Kory knew it was really all him. He just needed her voice to give him confidence to take that step, rather than Bruce telling him to stay in line. Kory then grinned whilst still chewing down on some of the sandwich as he agreed to their knack at being the awesome duo.
"I always liked when you blushed, reminds me of my little Robin and how much he flew into Nightwing... Speaking of. Did someone tell me of a new costume? I think I need to see it... Don't you want to properly test it out? And get my approval of course... I've rather missed it Dick and you, I wept for too long. Somehow fate always brings me back."
Kory spoke point happily about her Robin. Yes, she always referred to him as her Robin. All cute, bubbly and sweet. She loved him the moment she opened her eyes to his face and she was sure until she closed them forever. It was two solid years of mostly Robin blushing as Kory tried to ask him out until he finally broke a wing and took a chance. Kory smiled as she spoke of Nightwing. She wasn't sure if anyone had admired him more than she did. Had watched him from wee little Robin to the man he is today. It didn't matter what mask he had or the name he took. She knew his true heart, nothing can ever hide that, not even Bruce even if had tried. As Kory motioned to take Dick's hand when she spoke Nightwing. Showing she was proud of who he was. Then retreated and amusingly remembered he had a new costume since she last saw him. This she defiantly needed to see. Test out could mean a few things, she smiled. She was mostly thinking whether it was easy to get off. Kory softened as she spoke how she missed him. Mentioned how the first few moments away all she seemed to do was weep which was unlike her, they soon stopped, though she seemed to feel something was missing and she knew she wanted to be here.
"That was an accident Dick. An Honest mistake. As were all the other walls I mistakenly took out... Roy was happy about it. Then I think we scared him. Don't know why, maybe jealous... You were always a great kisser. I'm sure you've found someone to kiss while I was gone."
Kory spoke amusingly as she knew well the boys didn't make all the trouble. Having taken a couple of walls down or least a decent sized holes. She grinned as if she was innocent, really they were mistakes, well maybe a little high tempered at one time or two. As she remembered the wall she busted in her bedroom, which Roy seemed to recall sometime after, until he was left seeing Dick and Kory make-out... In which led Kory to find out if Dick had been kissing anyone. Feeling herself mostly under control. No, not jealous. Her eyes looked upon him. Though felt the tingle at the remembering of his lips. Before taking another bite of her sandwich before her tongue was hanging out.
"You mean things got more serious. No matter what it is still our family, Dick. We will always be titans."
Kory said as she always knew there was a chance they'd get to serious and forget they were family in the end. She sad they weren't together. Kory just wasn't always great with change. Though her voice lightened as no what, no where they are, they were always titans. In the end they would be there when needed. They were a family. Their family. Only those titans knew. It helped shape them all, If it wasn't for the Titans she probably be looking at a different Robin. Maybe not at all. The thought never meeting Dick sent shivers down her spine. Replenished the thought as she looked over at him. Then he put his sandwich down. Kory knew now was him getting to open up. A little more serious, but at least hopefully opening up. She smiled softly to try and encourage him. Felt the slight blush from his blue eyes, causing a mini wave. As if he read what she hadn't spoken and he still saw her like no else ever could.
"Attacked? How bad was the attack? Dick?"
Kory sat much in silence as Dick spoke, felt nice he opening up and she loved him for it. Felt the tinge to her eyes as faintly detailed what happened. As went on her eyes lingered to his body, to the limb she had seen and then she asked a little concerned, but fearing she knew what happened. Kory swallowed hard as she saw it in his eyes. What he had felt... He felt alone when it happened and possibly was still feeling it. He had Bruce and people, but Kory couldn't help than to think he was a little scared by it. As Kory placed her sandwich down, then motioned closer to him as she spoke his name. There was more, but she was getting the answers much from what he didn't speak. She wasn't here when he had needed her the most, but she was here now. As motioned her hand to caress his cheek and then to his neck. Trying to comfort him if he still needed it, if he could bare her. Felt her head rest a little against his own, to hear his heart. Felt the thudding of her own heart.
"Oh, Dick... It's Ok... I'm here."
Kory slowly retreated her face as she quietly wipe the tear from her cheek, offering him a hopeful warming smile as she motioned her hand to his chest and to feel the beat of his heart.

“I guess someone has told you about it already from the sounds of it. Who was it, Wonder Girl,” Dick said to her and smiled. He had a feeling there were more to her words than she was letting on. He knew there was something else there more that was between them.
”I’ve missed you too,” Dick replied. ”I guess you are right. Something is always bringing us back together. So I’m guessing you’re going to want me to show you the suit then? Maybe that will make you feel a bit better.”
Dick smiled at her. He knew what some people thought of the suit. But he didn’t care. The suit expressed him better than what he had been stuck with all these years since he was a kid. Sure it wasn’t as colorful as the old suit, but he had grown up. But the Nightwing suit was designed to fit his abilities and skills. And the coloring just seemed to fit the new persona.
Nightwing was darker than Robin, but the splash of blue showed that hope that was still within him. And Dick was still the same old Robin, just more grown up and finally speaking his wings to prove that. Nightwing was who he was. He never hid that from any of his close friends. They knew that this was a better chance for Dick to continue on in his crime fighting career. He hadn’t lost that spark and of course he didn’t lose his sense of humor that he was came to know of in a serious situations at times. And of course he was just as strict as he had been before. This was Dick. He hadn’t changed his entire life because of the costume. He was just free to finally be someone outside of the Bat’s shadow.
During the time that Kory spoke to him, he let her take his hand for that moment. This was Starfire, Kory, his best friend, and dare he say his past lover. He could deny her. They had been so close for years. There was just something between them. There always had been. And he wondered if there always would be...
”Well it was a good thing he got scared off. He had no right to be spying like that,” Dick spoke up. He always knew that Roy had been jealous at times. But there was one thing you never wanted to do. And Dick wasn’t one to sit back and let someone get between him and the person he loved. Though at times he knew it was just some minor flirting between Roy and Kory.
”Well, I am seeing Barbara Gordon at this time now,” Dick replied to her last statement. He wasn’t sure how she’d feel about that piece of news. But she needed to know that he was in a relation ship with someone else.
Moving on with the subject he continued. ”Yeah, I know we will always be a family. You guys have always been more than just a team to me,” Dick replied. And he knew the other Titans would agree. It just wasn’t the type of team to be cold and isolated like how the Bat-‘family’ could feel at times.
Carrying on and answering some one her questions, he managed to bring himself to do so. ”It was pretty brutal Kory,” Dick replied simply. ”It’s still the same sick and twisted Joker as he has always been. That something I would care to have to face any time soon. Then again, I’d rather in never happen again. But with this life in the crime fighting work...sometimes things happen. I’ve learn to accept that years ago, but this was a bit more. But still, it’s the life I chose,” Dick spoke.
He was silent as Kory spoke. He knew that she probably felt worse for not being there during the hardest time he had had to cross after the attack. But he would never let her feel like she needed to be. She was always with him. Though sometime Kory could be too hard on herself for something like that.
He accepted her touch and then to have her lean against his chest. Dick could only enclose her in a light and friendly hug. Something that only Kory was used to him doing to comfort her. He leaned his head slightly on hers as she rest against him. He wanted to show her that he was ok now. Things were ok. And getting better. He had gotten the help he needed to move forward. And he knew sometime his words weren’t enough to convince her of that. Kory could always see right through him.
His eyes still held the story there at times, but he had gotten through most of the darkness of it. He was ready to move on and carry on with his life. He could let this hold him back. He couldn’t let the Joker win like that.
”I know you are here. And I’m glad for it,” he replied. He lingered bit longer as they sat there. The silence surrounded them in the room. It felt good to had Kory back. He had missed her. Even after he had left the Titans, he had. There was always something drawing them together.

Feeling herself sinking back into the soft couch. Kory almost let out a relaxing breath. For something as fancy they were sure more comfy than they looked. Just as most other things looked untouchable incase they broke. Which in this case Dick was the almost broken one. Kory let out a silent sigh, before she lit up a smile as Dick spoke of Donna. Was she still Wonder Girl? She wasn't much of a girl last Kory saw her. Then it was maybe in ways how Kory could still her little Robin. Kory always liked the bond between Dick and Donna. One of which Kory wasn't jealous of. They were just best friends. Whom Kory loved them both. Donna was like a sister.
"She didn't detail it to me when I asked. As you know I like surprises... "
As Kory's eyes ran over him trying to envision the new suit. She was rather clueless as to what it looked like. Kory blocked her ears when Donna said it was different. She really wanted to see it herself and she was more concerned about Dick's health that she didn't stay for much longer to chat with Donna. From Dick's words she was getting the feeling he wasn't in touch with Donna as much either. But Donna did say he needed Kory. Which she was understanding a little as she sat here. Mainly to be a friend and truly knew him. Or as Dick once said to make him feel alive. So Kory would be here. There wasn't a lot of options save the Titans. Which she was missing, but not as much as she had missed him. Kory brightened as Dick said he missed her. It was sweet to hear and to know what she had seen in his eyes was the truth of it. She tilted her head softly as he agreed to her words. Maybe it was simple. Least to her. That they just understood each other. Even when she didn't speak english. Dick was the only one that saw straight through her. Didn't treat her like an alien.
"Do you even need to ask? Of course I do... If it's one thing I don't like is being out of the loop and I'm sorry Dick, but this is a very important loop... You alone make me feel better, but it defiantly would help. Maybe it be better for you, If I just go and find it. Unless you wired for it to come on demand.. Don't tell me your lantern? No wait. Nightwing right? Can you tell me why I'm picturing feathers?"
Kory felt it funny he thought to ask, of course she needed to see this. As she perked up her expression and need to to see it. Though in between her eyes edged over his slight worn out shape, perhaps she would have to hunt for it herself, save him injuring himself. Maybe this meant he needed help putting it on. Before she then got excited he might be a lantern, but she quickly knew that was ruled out. He was Nightwing after all. In which she kept seeing feathers. Maybe wings. She wasn't sure about that look.
"It's Roy, what more can you do. You still had guy talk with him, didn't you?"
Kory still thought of Roy fondly, well as much as she could. It was more him flirting with Kory and Kory not knowing what he meant. Which Dick wasn't too happy as he clearly knew what Roy meant. What the guys talked about Kory never knew, but she knew they talked. At the time all Kory needed was Dick, she didn't have eyes for another. She wasn't sure she could not love him now, but as he spoke of his new lover. Kory merely needed to love her best friends. Which she could do, even if there was no way to stop how she felt. She couldn't help to drop her eyes at the name and feel some tinge. That faint hope that Dick truly had waited for Kory, but really he had to have moved on. She had expected it, just not be here to see it. The chance to fall in his lips once again seemed distant, feeling the bubbles. Sure Kory could handle this well, she breathed. Before realising her nails had dug a little in the couch. She then relaxed them.
"Batgirl? I don't believe we've ever met. I wouldn't mind meeting her... Where is she now? Doesn't she live here?"
Kory asked rather kindly and it was true she never met her. Though maybe bits of jealousy was showing without realising it, though Kory was trying to be friendly about it. She was sure she would like this Batgirl. Of course apart of her wanted to maybe size her up a little. Which her eyes looked around as she asked if she was in the mansion. She then pondered did she live with Dick in the mansion. Well she was even surprised Dick was living here again.
"And it always will be... If you ever want to go back, I'd go back with you.."
Kory smiled softly as she took another bite in her sandwich. It was nice to eat humanly again. Feeling her stomach again was also nice. She knew Dick wouldn't go back, but she had to extend to him that if happened to change his mind that he wasn't alone in it. Kory set her food down as Dick spoke of this life and of what happened. He was struggling to be the hero he felt he needed to be and simply feeling human. Afraid to feel vulnerable.
"Dick your simply feeling, there's nothing wrong with that. There is no right way or wrong way to be a hero. As there is no right or wrong way to feel or to deal with this. Your the strongest man I know and your alive Dick. You have the time to heal and I know you will… Just because you expect things to happen doesn't mean they can't affect you. We're heroes not invincible, we also have hearts, so we can also hurt and even cry. If you don't want it to happen again, then don't let it... It has given you time to think and take time for yourself..."
Kory tried to reassure Dick that what he was trying to feel was normal, he was just getting confused with duty. Being a hero and being a person. For Kory there was more to their lives than being heroes. They were capable of many things. If Dick was afraid then it was best to feel so he can overcome it was Kory's thought. Kory could see the look in his eyes the mixture of things he felt. He wasn't just physically attack he was also mentally attacked. Which she knew he could overcome. He couldn't allow Joker to beat him like this. Kory was also here if he needed to hold on if he felt unstable. Even if letting go wasn't with words, it wasn't always the case.
As Kory felt him accept her touch. It felt like home to her and all she wished was to comfort him. It was a light hug, but it was him none the less and herself. As she fell a little more into him. Felt his head rest against hers, causing her to truly feel Dick again. She felt better now that she was here and just in time. He could overcome this. As long as he was alive. Her hand played over his chest and felt his heart. This was really all he ever needed. This was what made him a hero. It wasn't his words that needed to convince her, it was his actions and what she saw within his eyes. He was getting there. Kory was sure. For now Kory was here.
She smiled at his words. Burying her head back into the curve of his neck. Her hand stayed upon his chest. Felt she had really missed this and whether not he knew, she felt he needed this. She knew she couldn't just leave him, not now.
"You think Bruce has a decent movie collection. We can make the room all dark. Fill ourselves with popped corn and get comforted. It has after all been awhile and I think I'm out of another loop. We can just sit or talk more. You know i've also missed Ice cream. Can you tell me again why its not frozen cubes of cream?..."
Kory suggested with a softly smile. It was always comforting watching a film when cuddling him, even if it was friendly hugs. She half needed this herself. There was times to talk and then times to be distracted. To be reminded of life. She wasn't to amused she was speaking about more food. The foods that can help.

”Yeah, I remember,” Dick replied to Kory’s comment over surprises. Though he knew Kory was sometimes easy to please when it came to giving her gifts as long as it had some thought into it. She of all people had found the subtle ways he showed appreciation for people’s help when he didn’t want to admit he needed the help.
Then again this was coming from the guy who seemed to work with someone that was a brick wall when it came to emotion or even conversation. Dick had always said that it was sometime like talking to a wall. That and even then Dick could still hold almost a conversation of a type with the Bat.
”No, it’s actually down in the cave right now. Alfred has been helping to improve the suit a bit since the last attack. And even then, there wasn’t much left of it. No big deal though, I always have a spare,” Dick started on about the suit.
He have her a look and raised an eyebrow. ”Really? Feathers?....Is that what comes to your mind over the name? Do you really think I’d go and do something like that,” Dick commented. She knew him better than that. Dick wasn’t one to joke around much about his work as a vigilante. Must have come from his mentor on that. But he could take a joke.
”Yeah, and there isn’t much trying to stop how he behaves around others,” Dick said recalling how Roy would still hit on Kory every now and then even when Dick and her had been together. He wasn’t sure there was much you could do for Roy at a point. Its was Roy after all.
Dick watching Kory’s reaction as he had told her that he was now seeing Barbara. He could tell something wasn’t sitting right with her over the subject. He had a feeling that he might know why. But he wasn’t going to dig deeper at it. It wasn’t his place.
”No, she doesn’t. And I don’t technically live here either. I’m only here for my recovery time. My place isn’t best suited for being on crutches twenty-four seven when the whole thing went down. And Barbs probably at class right now, either that or just heading to work,” Dick said. Though he had neglected to tell Kory that he and Barbara were actually living together. Though he had a feeling she’d probably not really like to hear that. And Dick didn’t wan the whole conversation to make her feel uncomfortable.
Dick looked at her and remember the reasons he had stayed with the Titans. They were his family yes. But it had been time for him to rejoin Bruce. And now it was just time for him to be out on his own. He wanted to make a name for himself. Call his own shots.
”I’ll let you know if I ever do. But for now, I need time to just be Nightwing,” Dick replied. Though he said it as gently as possible. He wanted to show her that he cared very much so for his friends, but that he felt he needed this more than ever. He needed to be able to work solo for a while. Though he never really objected to others helping out every once and a while.
”It has and sometimes time is not necessarily a good thing to have at time to have the time to think about things,” Dick replied. Some of the time off had just helped him recall everything he had done wrong. He could remember how many time he had wished he could just get out of bed and get away from it all. Though he could probably work himself to death if he thought that was the only way to get through anything.
”He has a few, but there are better movies we could find on the listings on tv. We could go through a few and just about watch anything on the system he has,” Dick replied. Dick couldn’t help but smile at all her questions. This was the Kory he knew. She never seemed to change even with everything she had been through. If only it was the same for other people at times.
”If ice cream were in cube of ice, I’m not so sure it would be as much of the cream it should be,” Dick replied. ”Now if you wanted flavored ice, you could just get an ice pop or something.
”We’d be better off in the den to watch a movie since it’s more comfortable in there than this room. There’s away to some of the front rooms that are made to be more formal for the get-togethers for the functions Bruce throws for the Wayne Foundation,” he said.

There came the faint flushing of Kory's cheeks as Dick fondly spoke how he remembered. Causing her to smile softly. Hardly imagining why she was seeming surprised now. It was as if they're minds linked sometimes without even trying. Maybe it was the linking of other things, but for now it was just that of minds. Perhaps a little beat of their hearts, but Kory wasn't in the rush to listen if they beat the same. Even if she wanted just the slither of hope and she almost begged she saw it in his eyes. Then it was quite hard to tell when she was sure he was mostly happy she was alive and in front of him. She was so pleased to really just see him and be in his company. It was that faint idea if she took the step away now, It would cause her to take two steps towards him. She was here for now.
Kory tuned in as Dick spoke of his costume. Her eyes tracing down to where ever the cave of positioned below. Of course it was down there. To be be honest she was happy to see Dick as himself than as Nightwing for now at least. Still it was fun trying to picture it. Especially the idea it is supposedly a lot more different than his robin suit. Which looked cute enough, but she was guessing he was trying to go beyond the cute appeal. Lowering her head in slight amusement as she could easily still picture it. It was the mask she first saw looking back at her. Though remembering the man behind it and set her upon a slightly different path. She looked over him curious as he spoke how what happened effected the suit. Somehow picturing it all along with him. Her eyes traced over him. Her brows fused a little. Pondered how many scars had hindered his skin since last she saw. There would be a reason for a recount and more reasons to admire him. Unlike him she couldn't wear her scars as her skin healed, But she tried to show the survivor in her in other ways. Still she was a little jealous them, well mostly because she couldn't touch them. Kory hadn't the need for a lot of spares, being fabric from Tamaran it was stronger than it looked and not a lot there.
"So one of many we need to test out? I look forward to it... I really do. I just assumed feathers seeing as you flew like a robin, but you really could pull anything off... Wait that sounded more than I meant. Donna did hint it was very different... Does this mean your legs are covered? You have great legs. Oh wait is it more like sculptured to your body... Hmmm. Yes you defiantly need show me... This was like that big enormous leap you always wanted to take. What finally made you take it? I always said you could, I just missed out to see it, but there's tons more in your wake. You've barely begun Dick. I couldn't be more proud of you... "
Kory winked a little as she thought of his many spare costumes yet to be properly tested. Sort of brought back the many tests back at the towers. Particularly testing her starbolts against his skills. Questioning if it is a good idea, but he insisted. He got better, even if her chest leapt she would actually hurt him and only Dick knew the full extent of her powers. Of which he also knew she generally held back out of fear of them. Kory smiled at the feathers comment. Maybe not him, maybe Alfred. But really he could wear anything and make it look good. Or maybe she was bias. Then covering her tracks as Kory had spoke of him pulling things off. Brought back memories for her at least. While she was trying to picture his new attire. Having only really being hinted that it was vastly different. Which clearly led her to numerous ideas all of which he really could look good in. As then Kory questioned his legs. As before they were left bare which Kory had always admired him for. Very nice legs as Kory''s eyes lingered a thought. Then came the thought if they were covered, possibly tightly covered. Which she wasn't completely against that idea. She really just needed to see as her mind flooded with ideas and in the end she was happy to see him looking good without the costume. But it meant more than that. He stepped out of the shadow what was left and was being his real own hero. Something he had always talked about and Kory knew the passions he had. The will was there, he just needed that little reassurance to take that. Which Kory always tried to tell him and do, that Bruce wouldn't do. He just wouldn't see the sides of Dick that truly counted, but by the sounds the world was going to now. As Kory smiled happily to him. Despite this little bump in his road, there was still plenty for him to do and help the world. The most important thing was he took the leap and that chance. Wings or no wings. She half wished she would have been here when he took it, she was here now. Even if he probably didn't need her, she couldn't help the thoughts that she needed him though. Just not in a way she quite understood. For now was content to need him as a friend, maybe even family.
"Wait. You know this call for a celebration even if its over due... That's just who he is. There no stopping him let alone Gar. In the end Roy is our friend and when it counts he is always there. "
Kory's voice perked up as she spoke of celebrating his new hero role in the world. Maybe not a huge celebration. Maybe just a toast, but she wasn't sure she could even get that out of him. Maybe celebrate at the carnival. She needed something fun and so did he by what she could tell. Then he wasn't always about the fun. She then had the fun idea of stuffing him with cotton and heaps of candy. Then she was also interested to see him in action. Had things changed since he was robin? Maybe just more tailored she imagined. Then Dick spoke of Barbara. His girlfriend. His new girlfriend. It was slowly clicking and she was slowly accepting it. Besides Kory was best friends with him before anything else. That mattered most, that and his happiness. Though she still felt the same little flutter before and during when she first kissed him. Watching Dick as she spoke of her and trying to catch the love for his new girl. There was that faint sadness as he spoke of this life that lived when she was gone meant to be living her own. He had moved on and she couldn't regret that. Though she hadn't realised until she saw him, how much she had missed him. Half pondering if Earth was home or was it him. As she remembered when they were truly happy together. Caused the beautiful pain in her heart, but she loved him enough to let him be happy. Though knowing her she will have to be honest to him, but for now just seeing him mattered the most.
"So this is only temporary? Where do you live? School. Work. So smart and talented? Beautiful I've heard. Makes you happy I'm guessing? Hopefully during my stay I'll get to meet her."
Kory asked half wondering if the mansion was temporary or Gotham was. Then where did he live if not with the titans anymore or here. She wasn't sure if it meant he lived with Barbara or not. Of course Kory was reminded of the times spent together and missed living with him the most, but it wasn't her place anymore. Her green eyes pin pointing over him as he spoke of school and work for Barbara. Causing Kory to question this girl was then smart. Trying not to seem a little unlike Kory herself, why was she comparing. There was no point. Besides the one thing that did set them apart was Barbara was human. Though the main thing was his happiness. Which she asked as it was really the only thing she needed to know. Really she did wish to meet her. She had heard good things about her. She seemed nice and probably who Dick needed. Kory just couldn't stop how she felt.
"I understand, Dick... Would me being here ruin that for you then?"
Kory agreed with him as he wanted to simply be Nightwing and that she understood. She just hoped during that he wouldn't be entirely alone in it. Even heroes can get lonely and isolated. An outsider. Though he needed the time to stand on his own, even if she wished to be alongside him. Then pondered perhaps he also meant he didn't want her here. As she asked curious. As she wasn't so sure she could just leave him unless he really wanted it. She had missed him enough. Not really sure where her own path was now. She had imagined it be the same as the before, but finding so much had changed. She knew she wanted to protect the planet from ever becoming what Tamaran was now, nothing. The only thing that made sense was seeing Dick again. It was that familiar feeling, mixed with something different and new.
"It wasn't your fault Dick. You had no idea that was going to happen. If you made mistakes that led to it, you sure made up for them by surviving... We all make mistakes Dick and we're all put in situations we didn't wish for. It's about how we overcome them that matter. You are strong enough to confront this Dick, it is just a matter of when. What are these things? Some times it helps to talk about them and not feel burdened alone... I told you everything I could about what happened to me. How strong you said I was to pull through that. You never realised how it also helped to do that, to tell you and not be alone in it. That it was real it happened and it didn't consume my life... I'm not trying to tell you how to deal with this, but whether you want me apart of it or not, I am... You are a great man and a fantastic hero the world has only barely seen. This. You should be proud you survived. Otherwise I wouldn't be seeing you now and this means more to me than you can imagine."
Kory was maybe going through this a little to much, but all she wanted to do was hug him. Well maybe a bit more. Just to show how much she did care for him. She didn't want him hurt by it anymore if it hurt him still, but some it wasn't about rushing. it was taking the time. Though looking in his eyes as he spoke of things he thought about. She could only imagine what they were, but she could tell probably not happy things. Kory smiled as she spoke of the man he was and hero. Even if he wouldn't soak it up, she wasn't shy to say it and keep saying it. After all he was the man she loved because of who he was. Wishing to comfort him as it was maybe what he wanted and needed. Wasn't there Barbara? Then why wasn't she here. Did she help? Did she know? Kory didn't know. Bruce wasn't the father type Dick had maybe hoped he was. Not mentioned lost his real family and by the sounds didn't interact with his other family, the titans. Kory just couldn't help to feel a bit lonely for him. Surrounded, but felt maybe utterly alone. Was much the feeling she got when she was captured. She was surrounded by Komand'r and her men. Kory's abusers, always someone there, but no one that she could truly call a friend or really family in the end. Kory reached again for his hand as she spoke how much seeing him now meant to her. She wanted to kiss each new scar better. Wished to point and ask how each one was made. If his tears would fall, she would let herself catch them and admire they opened him up. Hold him close and feel that weird falling feeling not wishing to stop.
Then Dick seemed in spirits again speak of movies. Some of his words seemed to rush in and around her head, guess being away from earth for this long. Then suddenly feeling she knew what he was saying. Somehow always made sense. This was her. She wouldn't let what happened to her define her. She was alive and knew she needed to live it. Also allow that chance for others. She was born and bred to fight. She half imagined she was born to survive. She was also raised in a joyous nation. Through all Dick's hardships, laid a heart like none she knew. He seemed to want to give joy than to take it and that was a sweet thing. She tried when she could to remind he was deserving of joy. Even now though she saw his heart.
"That is true and the cream is the best part, especially with popcorn. Popsicles? Maybe have both... I'll be happy to go to the den with you... So did you want me to help take you there?"
Kory then half dreamed of cream and pop corn. Sugar and candy. She giggled softly. She was gone from earth this long, she was bound to miss something other than Dick himself. She found the humour in him talking about the den. After the long explanation of what it meant. A cosy, tight space. As it was reasons to go to the den before. Not that it wasn't already quiet it being just the two of them, then perhaps Bruce could be home anytime soon if he wasn't already. He was hard to feel even when he was in the room at times let alone outside it, so Kory could never guess when she had visited before, but she was sure it never to visit him. Just well Dick. If it wasn't to help him escape back to the tower. It had well a better den.Or was it entirely a den, Kory pondered over that thought. As she then offered to fly him to the den, as it might be easier for him. Which led to the thought she could take him anywhere if he wished to get out for a bit. Though carrying him wasn't something he wanted to seem excited about, but accepted half the time or maybe her persistence.

Dick looked at her and smiled when she kept on mentioning the feather part. He help back from laughing over it. He still could see how she would come up with that one knowing him. Thought the whole bird name like title probably didn’t help. The crooks that know him now and who he was then still call him bird boy at time from what he hears.
”Well I can guarantee there are no feathers what so ever,” he said. His cheeks started to get a light shade of red again when she started talking about him looking good in any thing. Of course it embarrassed him. She knew how to hit those points well. The way she talked so highly of him it seemed all the time even in his presents was enough to make him feel embarrassed. But she meant well. It was just something he didn’t really expect or was used to, to be said in front of him.
Then again, this was Kory. She usually said what was on her mind. And would let you know exactly how she felt about something. He could remember several times when there had been heated argument between the team and she was not afraid to voice her opinion if she felt very strongly about the situation.
”Ok, ok. I get it,” he said giving s slight uneasy smile more of embarrassment. Though it could also be more of uncomforted over the conversation topic at the moment. ”To answer your questions....Yes my legs are covered. Just being back here in Gotham and being under someone else’s control again just felt off for me when I came back.”
What he meant by the control, she would understand. She had heard a bit of how Batman treated him at times. It was more of a tough love treatment compare to some of the other teammates partnership with their mentors. And Dick had always said, he didn’t want to be like Batman. And at time he had said he didn’t want to become Batman.
He looked at her when she started to say something about a celebration. And then went on to say something about Roy again. But he understood. ”I know Roy is our friend. All the Titans are. No matter what we went through we made it through together and nothing seemed to truly tear us apart,” he said and smiled over the thought of the old team.
”As for celebration...That’s unnecessary,” he said. Dick had always been a bit modest about things at times. Sure he was proud to be Nightwing, but he didn’t need to go around showing it off as if to say he was finally out of the Bat’s shadow. Bruce was still his mentor. He did respect him. Though they did have their falling outs at time. But what team didn’t. ”I appreciate the thought.”
As they moved on with the conversations. He continued to keep up with all her questions. ”Yeah, I’m only staying her temporarily. I have my own place in town a bit. Just a nice penthouse to call my own.” And as the conversation drifted in the topic of his girl-friend Barbara. He looked at Kory wondering how she really felt about asking these questions.
”Yeah she’s been working at the library for some time. We’re happy together. And I’m sure you’ll meet her sooner or later,” Dick spoke. But he did not put much into this conversation. There was a fear there in hurting Kory’s feelings. He still cared for her. But with her being right there with him, he hadn’t realized how much he had really missed her.
When she said about ruining things for him with her being there. His eyes got a bit wide as if he had felt like he offended her. He started shacking his head in protest against her words. ”No! Of course not! You know I wouldn’t mind having you there with me. I just mean by having some time to fly solo for a while and not having to stay in constant touch with someone or having someone looking over my shoulder is all,” Dick spoke up. You could tell there was a bit more to his voice with his words. Just a bit of him almost wanting her there with him. He never minded having her around. She was his best friend.
He looked at her. And sometimes wondered just how much she understood of him. At times she could say it out better than him. But he wouldn’t let on to that. ”I know it wasn’t to a point. But don’t worry about it. I’ve worked through it,” Dick said, not wanting to say any more of it at the time. It wasn’t as sour a subject. But he didn’t want to have their whole visit about his torture. Bruce had helped him work through it and still was. And it was working.
Once again when she had offered to help him or brought up something that had meant something to him in the past, he blushed a bit at the thought. Kory could easily make him feel embarrassed over some things. She had gotten to know him more than any one else ever had. And there were somethings she knew he wouldn’t want her telling others. ”No, that’s alright. I can walk there. Let’s swing by the kitchen to get what we want first. I don’t want to bother Alfred if he has already headed off to do something else. Even if he doesn’t like me getting it myself while he’s around,” Dick said as he stared off a bit down the hall this time.

There was that split moment she even forgot they were in the mansion. Or really anywhere. The real comfort was being alongside him. Even if this long time apart caused her the desire to lock limbs in some fashion. Now her mind was a little consumed of feathers, only maybe thinking slightly different than he was. No. That image wasn't about to escape her and she half didn't wish it to. Her green eyes didn't run away and watched him a little amused, whilst partially flushed.
"I wouldn't mind if you were covered in feathers, but I can't say I'm opposed without either. "
Kory admitted with her words, ironically finding the slight clutching a cushion with her fingers. Yeah, perhaps really she was having a flash back and they don't always happen. Almost felt her nails clutching to tight, so she slowly let go. Then felt the slight happy laugh in her chest. As she admired his red cheeks. A man with a heart and someone she had seen plenty of sides. Half confused why didn't share with others. He was too amazing, bit of course she respected that wish and secretly found the blushing rather appealing. She grinned gently to his words along with his uneasy smile. She didn't wish to make him uneasy, but she did like making him feel something.
"Well, I'm sure they still look amazing. How have you been getting back on them? Oh, Dick. Soon hopefully I'll see Nightwing in all his glory, but for now I'm happy with seeing this man... I always knew you were destined for great things and this Nightwing is your own... You make it difficult not to admire you. Your family would certainly be proud of you."
Kory asked about his recovery. The limb in his walk earlier vastly different than his more graceful walk. Wished to aid in the soothing, but for now best keep hands at bay. Her eyes even traced his legs, imagined this Nightwing look a little, but all in all Kory was simply pleased to be with man behind the masks. She half battered her eye lids speaking of admiring him, it was truthful. He was special to her and she admired he never took it to his head. In which she knew even his family would certainly be proud, but they always would be she softly smiled at the thought.
"And nothing ever could tear us apart, we'll always be titans... I didn't mean anything greatly by it. Really isn't this the celebration? Being together? I just meant seeing as I've just returned. This is all rather new to me. Just hoping that friend knows he has my support, is all."
It was sweet really to think of titans. The tower. Those memories were sweet. Especially the ones with this man. Smiling softly to herself. Practically spend day and night together. It was no wonder it sort of felt like a breaking of a puzzle. Kory's eyes lingered over him about the celebration. She felt the slight feeling she had offended him, really she felt a bit confused. Though she really wasn't trying to force it. Really now she felt was it. She had been gone so long, there was a lot she missed out on. Not only that the man she loved moved on she expected him to and with this direction she was proud he took it. The celebration had nothing to do with him not being in Batman's shadow. It was about Dick. She just wanted to kindly show she supported this path he was now taking. It wouldn't always be easy. Really she was proud of him. This was about him. So perhaps he took her way of celebrating maybe a little over the top than she meant. Her hand motioned for his own as she spoke of her support. Smiling softly. Remembering when he told her way back when he didn't know anything about himself, Dick Grayson. She believed she saw him discover that, but it was hard to describe, there was more now. It was nice to see.
"In a way this is a good place to recover, it was home for you at a time. I wouldn't mind seeing this penthouse sometime, if you'd care to show me of course?"
Kory smiled softly as she expressed about the mansion. The family that connected them here. She perked up a little as he said penthouse. Wasn't sure if he was trying to make it sound too fancy, but he seemed joyed that it was his own. It was too cute. It caused the desire to see it. For now for she didn't exactly have a home. For now a hotel in Gotham, it was fair enough. Besides home seemed more where her friends were as her eyes grazed his own at the thought. Yes this was enough. This was nice. Smiling softly to herself as then stopped shortly as Dick spoke of Barbara. Sure there was the tinge of something, but with his word of happiness. Who was she to step between that, it was Kory that left after all. This, this was expected. Still with the desire to pull him close into some embrace. It had been sometime since the promise of a kiss. Half imagining using her strength to climb and pin him to the couch. Pull him into the kiss. His touch. Hmmm, yeah she was either visualising it or it was a flash back. As she finally blinked after staring at him and gave him a smile. As she found her breath again.
"She sounds like a talented woman and I'm happy to hear you've found joy with her. Who knows we might become friends"
Kory happily responded and was hopeful to make a friend out of Barbara. She was always up for new friends. Kory felt the strange feeling as he looked at her. For now she was in no hurry to figure it out entirely, but she felt herself oddly responding without knowing she was. Then there was great reasons to smile with not just Dick's words, but his reaction. Half felt herself sink a little into the couch. Where he was maybe trying to hide he was showing a little more than he would like. Really she couldn't deny she didn't wish to up and leave him so soon. In this ray of hope she saw a touch of him needing her and that was nice.
"I understand, you want time to be yourself and discover who Nightwing is. You want me there! Here! I guess I don't remember ever holding you down... I think I'll stay then, for now. It be too weird walking into that tower without you, Dick and with so many changes, I need something familiar. Who else knows me better than you!"
Falling into the cushioning of the couch, Kory spoke understanding the need of this discovery. Its always the hardest to find ourselves. She felt the sudden needing. Expressed in her tone of the there and here. With his talk of being on his own away from others, but not her. So she wasn't someone looking over his shoulder, well she was now, it was a nice shoulder. She smiled coyly. It was maybe a stretch to say she didn't hold him down. As she said it, she peaked a smile as her tone hinted at the thought. She meant the other kind of holding. She escaped a thought of plenty of times pinning him down. Although he was oddly stronger than he looked or perhaps she let him. Yeah, she was remembering last time she said that to him and caused an interesting night of him proving her wrong. He was maybe a weakness, but he was also her greatest strength. Her smile grew a little more as she spoke of staying. Good chance really she wouldn't of left so easily. There was things Dick said and things he didn't say. Half imagining though he didn't maybe know himself, she knew him. Where this self discovery was good, she knew him well it could be a fine line into isolation. With everything changed around her, she didn't want to fall in isolation herself. Here. Was something familiar.
"Telling me not to worry, is like telling me not to care or love you... Creating new memories sometimes helps to forget. You could use a distraction. As I'm sure your carrying more than just this. Can't imagine how you coped without me to help the balancing you out.
As Kory sat back her eyes settled down as he told her not to worry about it, him. Her words came out softly, not really in direction, more speaking her mind, to herself. The last thing she could really do is stop her emotions or stop caring about him. Not overly worried herself she spoke of loving him, it was the truth anyways and she would always love him. Whether friend or something more. Her eyes then reached him more happily speaking of distractions and new memories. There were tons of good memories they had created, which she wasn't quick to forget, but this seemed more reason to make new ones. Starting with this one, of seeing him again and catching up, even as friends. She knew him well about the building up on his shoulders. There was a time she believed she helped ease him and made him feel alive. In ways made him not worry so much. Her tone was light in play with her last words. There was maybe a little truth in it, there always was in her words, but this was out fun. Causing of a smile. With that and the mentioning of distractions. It was maybe bold for another. As she leaned to kiss him on the cheek. Warmly and friendly.
"Of course, I like a slow walk anyways... I'll be your nurse for the day, make up for the ones I missed... Well I won't tell him if you won't. I just hope we have enough arms... Or don't get lost. Hmmm, let's go."
Kory laughed amused by his cuteness as she got to her feet. Wondering why she was trying to avoid a slow walk, with him. As she smiled as motioned her hands to also help him to his feet. Pondering at the thought she missed out on being his nurse, as she wasn't sure she could easily see Bruce in that role. That and causing more distractions from the times she nursed him back to health, even when he wasn't hurt. Thought sweetly as Dick talked about Alfred, of getting into trouble. Where Alfred getting it could be the easier option, the doing it themselves could be more fun. Recalling how big the kitchen was, could find themselves never coming out. Then realising being lost meant with Dick. It didn't seem such a bad thought.
