Mary Bromfield was used to the finer things in life. Not by her own choosing but it was obviously what fate had planned for her and maybe until now it rubbed off too much on Mary Marvel. Adopted at a very young age, long before she ever spoke the magic word for the first time, Nick & Nora Bromfield were wealthy, Nick being a successful businessman and Nora being a happy homemaker. She and Billy had grown up in 2 separate worlds before being reunited. He grew up on the streets, Mary grew up lacking very little. What she saw around her now was a culture shock. Let's face it, all of Gotham was a culture shock but this area took the prize. She wasn't indifferent to it though. Her heart went out to the innocents who suffered through it, it was just something she had been sheltered from but again not by choice. Life is just what it gives you, you don't get to pick the cards you're dealt.
"Don't worry, unless I am driving my cab I don't plan on spend much time in Gotham in my normal form. Too risky. All I need to do is be caught as Mary Bromfield, gagged and then I am out of commission." She was really thinking out loud while trying to assure her new partner. "Speaking of my job I should probably be getting back to it before long. Dual identities unfortunately carries a bucket load of dual responsibilities with it." She sighed reflectively.
"I will most certainly make this area one of my regular stopping points then. Are there any other major points to the city I still need to see?" She smiled, her eyes looking carefully at the sights below while she shuddered slightly. She hated having to end the fact finding tour soon but business was business.

Nodding to that, Hawkgirl smirks to herself. Yeah, it must get difficult juggling two different lives. But, then again, what she wouldn't give to be able to just blend in and be an ordinary person for awhile. Instead she's either a superheroine or alone in her apartment. What's it like driving a cab, she has to wonder? She's never actually been in a car before - there's no point when she can fly much faster than they can be driven, and she'd probably have a terrible time fitting her wings into one if she wanted to see what it's like. And then there's the claustrophobia to factor in - she doubts that they're roomy enough for her that way either.
Still scanning the warehouses below in the off chance that someone's slipped up during this fly-over, Hawkgirl looks back over to Mary with a thoughtful look at her question. "No, I don't think so. Since you've been living in Gotham, I'm sure you know the other key points and with the FBI throwing everything into chaos where the other hot spots keep fluctuating from day to day. What I know about who was last where is constantly outdated," she frowns and shakes her head. While the FBI have managed to clear up the low level crime, they've also managed to make finding the really dangerous criminals more difficult.

"217-724-7554" Mary quietly blurted out. "Remember that number since I don't have anything to write with or on right now. You know where I work, where I live, and now you've got my cell number. Just in case something comes up and you need the help, you can reach me pretty quickly I suppose." She informed Hawkgirl and nodded in response to her last comment. "Just like the weather, everything in Gotham, all of it seems to change at an alarming pace. Doesn't give a person very much they can still put faith in, does it?" Mary frowned and reluctantly turned away.
"I should definitely be going now but I'll be looking for you. I just wonder how much longer it will be until someone needs sense drilled into their thick skulls around here?" She sighed slightly and started off. "Catch you later."
((OOC: You can end this if you want, unless you have an idea on keeping it going. It's cool either way.)

Hawkgirl simply nods at the number. Her memory is such that she doesn't even bother trying to memorize it - it'll be there when/if she needs it. She also doesn't comment on Mary's take on the weather, change, and faith. If there's anything she's learned in her many years it's that the only thing one can put their faith in is that change is a constant. It's just that some things change faster than others sometimes.
"Me too," she says with a shake of her head about the present situation. She believes that it will change too, probably for the worst first, but eventually for the better. And she'll admit to a little impatience at getting it all over with. "I'll see you around," she says with one last smile as Mary heads off, seeing no need to keep the woman from her job. With no alternate identity, being a hero is her only job, so when things are quiet like this then it's time to literally go looking for trouble.
(OOC: Yeah, I'd say that they're out of things to talk about in this thread. It was fun, though!)
