Tonight was a particularly dark night in Gotham. The moon was covered by cloud’s, looked like rain might have been in the forecast either for tonight or tomorrow. Dr. Crane moved his hands on the wheel as they navigated toward home. It wasn’t often that Dr. Crane decided to drive, but he did on the occasion, it was somewhat relaxing to him…when he was alone. When he was with someone, someone else was driving and his mind was promptly somewhere else. It hardly mattered if they were talking to him or not.
In this case Dr. Crane was a bit more aware. VerMillion fidgeted in the passenger seat quite use to the silence that he kept in most situations. He glanced at her for a moment just to see what she was doing before checking the rearview mirror. They were getting closer to the turn off.
A few blocks later Dr. Crane made the turn onto a dirt road that led further away from the city. It was only a short drive to home. The gravel and dirt from the bumpy road kicked up from underneath the car. The lights from the city began to fade and only the headlights from the car could be seen as it drove down a dark road. With a flick of his wrist he flipped the high beams on and only a few more feet in front of the car could be seen. It wasn’t a problem, for Dr. Crane at least, he had driven this road many times. His mind however took him into a much darker place than the road as the crackle from the gravel entered through his ear drums and rattled his insides. It was a place he didn’t want to be, a place he didn’t want to think about. His eyes seemed to fade into the road as the doctor became terribly focused.
The ragged boy sat in the back seat, his head hung low from the terrible act he had done tonight. He couldn’t do anything right, he was a sinner, a terrible child. He didn’t deserve to be here, he didn’t deserve to live. Of course his mom abandoned him here, he needed this….he deserved this…The boy looked up from the back seat at the dark gravel road the crackled underneath them. The hay truck bumped and bobbled as they made progress toward the place he hated most. A small sniffle came from him and he promptly lifted his dirty palm to the edge of his cheek, smearing the dirt onto his face. He tried to remain calm and choke back the inevitable but it wasn’t working. The boy pulled his knees up on the cushion, barely big enough for the seatbelt to even be in the way. Dropping his head into his knees and wrapping his arms around, he tried not to sob. The boys head shot up several moments later as a noise came from the front of the car.
Dr. Crane had let his mind escape him, blinking for a few moments he noticed VerMillion leaning forward and messing with the dials on the radio. It moved from static to static before she finally let it fall on classical music and sat comfortably back in her seat. It irritated him to no end, reminding him of the dark night he had just pulled his thoughts from. He knew the music all too well. Leaning forward himself he clicked the radio off without saying a word to her. Focusing his eyes back on the road he tried to take his mind off of everything and just focus on getting to his hideout where he could continue his research. Everything was going so perfectly, the formula was finished it just needed a test. He needed to inject himself with it to make it permanent. Of course all of his work for the Scarebeast was well hidden and it would take quite a scouring to find it all. The formula itself still had to be mixed and right now the ingredients were not grouped together.
Just as his thoughts were moving deep into his research the sting from the radio assaulted his ears again. Slowly he turned his head to the side, keeping the car straight as he looked at her. Did she just really defy him? Leaning forward and snapping the Radio off again, he glared at her. “Leave it..” Dr. Crane threatened while bearing his cold eyes into hers. She began to protest, offering her opinion on why it should be on and asking why he didn’t like classical music. VerMillion leaned forward again to snap it on. She was really pushing his patience tonight. “I said leave it.” The doctor restated this time both of their fingers going for the dial.
It was at that moment his hands flew from the steering wheel by force. Luckily his seat belt was on or the hard shove might have sent him flying from his seat. The window shattered beside him sending the car into an array of glass and plastic. The car careened off the road as it was clipped from the side by a vehicle he hadn’t noticed. How did he not notice a car was following him? Had it been there the whole time? Dr. Crane didn’t have time to think, his hands flew back to the steering wheel to get the car under control as it slid to the side. The windshield was severely damaged, making it almost impossible to see through. Getting control back over the car he managed to pull it onto the road, cursing under his breath. What was going on? The car stalled a bit but he managed to keep it moving, gaining speed again.
He turned his gaze to VerMillion for a moment to see if she was alright.

Jon isn't the only one whose thoughts are influenced by the drive. The darkness of the night somehow makes it seem more familiar to her. She, like Jon, wasn't born in the city - though she doesn't like to admit to that. Instead she was born and raised in a small town in Kansas, of all places, and it was a lot darker at night there than it normally is in Gotham. But with the stars and moon obscured and the fact that, this not being one of the busier parts of Gotham, most of the lights that can be seen besides the headlights are off in the distance it reminds her of home.
She never did like the darkness when she was a child, though she does have several fond memories of heading home late at night after some activity that lasted well into the evening. She didn't mind the darkness so much then. In fact it felt rather warm and pleasant with her dad driving, her mom in the front seat and she squished in the back between her siblings - for some reason the smallest person always has to sit in the middle seat. Her father was a huge fan of jazz music, while her mother hated it and preferred pop - which, of course, her father couldn't stand. So they'd 'compromise' by listening to classical music and that became Heather's favorite, even though she more often pretends to be a fan of alternative rock.
And after daydreaming for some time, she finds that though she's gotten used to the silence of being with Jon it seems so empty in this car in comparison to her memory. So she reaches for the radio, watching him idly out of the corner of her eye to see if he'll immediately protest. When he doesn't she assumes that it's okay, not knowing that he's lost in his own thoughts. She tunes the radio to her favorite classical station and sighs quietly to herself when she sits back. Yeah, that's a lot better!
At least until Jon flicks the radio station back off. She frowns. While she's not normally one to argue with him about anything too strongly, when something is important enough to her she will. And sometimes it even works. So after a few more moments of silence she turns the radio back on, hoping that he'll let her have the music if she's willing to push the point. Instead he flicks it off and glares at her. "You don't like it? But it's relaxing! And it's classical - doesn't everyone like classical sometimes?" she protests, before reaching forward to turn it back on again.
It's at that moment when something hits their car, hard. She screams in surprise as glass shatters and things go flying, though her seat-belt keeps her in place and largely unharmed. "What's going on?" she asks when the initial impact is over, twisting in her seat to look behind them. But the question is largely rhetorical as the other vehicle seemed to come out of nowhere and it's not like this road is very well-traveled - it's unlikely that wasn't on purpose. She glances back at Jon: shaken, a bit scared, trying really hard not to panic, but otherwise just fine.

Two weeks of distant surveillance on the building, two weeks of planning, taking every plan they could think of and picking it apart for everything that could go wrong. Back up plans, carefully chosen men and equipment, they'd even done a run through of the capture a few times, all the ensure the Penguin got his revenge.
When Jon was seen leaving with the girl they'd put the plan into action. Parked a short distance off the road, in the dark and with all lights killed they'd been lying in wait until finally Crane returned.
It was a simple plan, in three black Jeeps sat a total of eighteen of Oswald's men, plus the two who had been dropped off to hide near the building and cover it made it an even twenty and Oswald himself. All geared up with bulletproof clothing, gas-masks, guns and tasers, they were ready. There was even a very large net that could be electrified in one of the Jeeps in case the FBI's reports of Crane going monstrous were to be believed.
As Jon passed by on the road Oswald gave the order to Terry's car. He'd been good that week and his lack of some common sense compared to some of Oswald's other high ranked thugs made him more than willing to accelerate without lights across the uneven ground towards the road and ram his car into the side of Crane's without a second thought.
The crunching of metal made Terry grin dangerously as he regained control of his car as it rebounded from the impact. There was no hesitation though as he wrenched the steering wheel over, ramming Crane's car again as lights suddenly flared into life on the other side, rapidly approaching before the second Jeep crunched into the other side of Jon's car, sandwiching it between the two. A man in the passenger seat of the second car put a stop to the right with a burst of rapid gun fire into the hood of Jon's car, pitting the metal with bullet holes and did enough damage to stop the engine with a sputter, a muffled bang and a cloud of smoke.
The Jeeps kept up their place, keeping Jonathan's car pinned between them and they'd barely stopped before men started pouring out of them and the third Jeep made an appearance, hanging back but unloading it's men to let them run to the scene and join the others in surrounding Crane's car and pointing guns at it "Don't move!" one commanded through his gas-mask.
Meanwhile, safely well back in the third Jeep, Oswald sat and watched with Mike and Linsey, waiting for word that Crane had been secured, or waiting to issue orders should everything go wrong. Oswald was already looking smug, they'd taken Jon by surprise, he was sure of it and without being able to get to his lab Jon would have to make do with whatever he had with him. Oswald wasn't foolish enough to think he wouldn't have anything with him but that was part of the reason who hang back and let the more dispensable employees go first.
Despite his certainty that all had gone to plan so far there was a note of tense nervousness in the third Jeep as Oswald flipped his lighter open and closed over and over. Usually in these situations he would be smoking, old habits die hard and while he'd cut down on it in general he almost always still smoked in dangerous situations. It was calming to him. However he didn't get a gas-mask made specially to fit his nose only to give it up for a cigarette. Victory first, it would be his reward for teaching Jon a lesson.

Dr. Crane remained surprisingly calm throughout the incident for someone that had just had their car deliberately rammed. It was no accident; the lights were off on that car it was a stake out. His mind raced over the possibilities of what was going on. VerMillion seemed unharmed by any glass that may have made it to her side. Even if it had cut her she was in too much of a panic to notice. His gaze kept going from the road to the rearview and finally to her leaving her seat to look behind them. “I don’t know…Sit down.” He scolded her to stay seated; something told him this wasn’t over.
He just caught the front end of the car as it steadily approached again and gave them another hard nudge. Dr. Crane was more prepared now, turning the wheel as he needed to keep the car from swiveling out of control. Finally gaining control again he kept the car straight and slammed on the gas. They needed to get back to the hideout…now. Light flashed to VerMillion’s passenger side, there was another vehicle. Dr. Crane kept the car steady trying to move it slowly away from the other one while maintaining his speed. Just as he put some distance between the car on her side, the metal scratched against the car that had rammed him previously. He lifted his arm to shield himself from the sparks that flew and tried to remain in the middle of them, blaring down the road.
They were sandwiched between two vehicles; there was no doubt in his mind now that it was an ambush. He had his immediate speculations, but Dr. Crane had many enemies. He kept the car at its current speed as the two raced beside them. VerMillion was clearly panicking now in the seat beside him, unfortunate; he didn’t even have the time to enjoy it with what was going on. He had been prepared for an ambush to happen for some time now, but he didn’t expect it to happen here. A man in the passenger seat of the car to the left of them popped out of his window and sat on the sill with an automatic weapon. Dr. Crane Reached over to VerMillion, keeping the car as straight as he could. “Get down!” He shouted pressing down onto the curve of her back so she’d lean forward. It was probably the first time any panic had leaked into his voice at all through this.
Suddenly the other car pulled forward more. Dr. Crane did the best he could to keep evenly between the cars. His mind was racing, trying to come up with any plan on the spot. He could, that’s what he was good at, changing plans in a moment. His thoughts leaked through the various objects he had on him and in the car. Right about then the front of the car began to be littered with gun fire. The bullets popped, rattled and ricocheted inside the engine before smoke started to slide out from the hood. The cables underneath his feet suddenly became looser, like they had no effect. He pressed and pressed at the gas but it wasn’t working anymore. The car began to coast on what speed it had left and the gunman from the left car had slipped back inside. Slowly the car came to a stop through its sputters and coughs of smoke through the engine. There was nothing he could do.
Just as the wheels stopped turning below them the car was immediately surrounded by well-armed and well armored men. This was suddenly becoming clearer and clearer in his mind. This was the work of the Penguin; he had finally caught up with him. This was expected, Penguins retaliation at some point, in this manner however he was not ready for it. Back at his hideout he had prepared with plenty of precaution, unfortunately thinking about any of that wouldn’t help him right now. Although he couldn’t see the Penguin through the several men that surrounded the car, there was no doubt in his mind that these were his men, and he was here.
As the men flanked the car he heard the demand echo through the dust for them to remain still in the car. “VerMillion…Calm down” He spoke calmly and slowly. She was still bent over from the gun fire and could move a bit more loosely without them seeing. “Reach into the glove compartment and grab onto my modified dart gun. There should be three charges behind it, load it.” His voice remained slow and monotone trying to make sure she didn’t panic. Dr. Crane lifted one hand from the wheel slowly so his assailants could see what he was doing. His other hand quickly slipped down and reached to the back of his shirt to grab his mask. This was a very difficult situation but a few things about it were made immediately clear. If they were wanted dead the crash would have been a lot worse, and instead of riddling bullets into the engine it would have been into the car itself. There was no reason to fear a lethal shot…one wouldn’t be fired.
With the realization he had to do his next moves quickly. “VerMillion get out of the car on my side…” His voice remained calm and soothing so she could listen to what he said and follow directions. She may have had to crawl to get out on his side, but it would eliminate the possibility of someone grabbing her on the right. Ignoring the now immediate order he clicked the switch on his mask and pulled it over his head. Carefully he grabbed the door handle and pushed it open with his foot to step out. Of course he expected VerMillion to follow and stay close to him.
The darkness and dust were mixed into the air swirling around the Scarecrow in his element. He lifted his hands to show that they held nothing but his own presence. In this situation he had hope at least half of them would fear him just from his reputation alone. They had every reason to be scared, even with guns aimed for his body. The Scarecrow stood and took them in one by one through the gaze of his mask, his muscles were loose and he seemed quite relaxed for the situation. “Are you scared?” The distortion cracked out from the mask while he turned his palms slightly to the air.

Straightening herself back into her seat, Heather's immediately glad that she did when the car hits them again. She makes a small, frightened yelp at that impact, though it seems less severe than the first. And she finds herself wondering yet again if she might possibly be hallucinating. But no, this is too much unlike anything that her mind would make up for her. This is definitely real... somehow.
Her mind is still trying to catch up with what's going on when a second car appears at their side, prompting another few small screams at each impact as they become sandwiched between the two. And when someone with a gun appears at the window of one of the cars, Jon's instruction to get down is probably a mercy at this point - it stops her from staring wide-eyed at this situation in a frozen state of panic and spares her from having to watch as the hood is riddled with bullets.
She leans forward and ducks down, covering her head with her hands as she repeatedly and rapidly says, "Oh my God!" over and over. The sounds that the car makes as the engine dies are rather scary, but it'd probably be worse to actually watch everything else happening. Then again, she was very quick to hear the note of panic in Jon's voice at the instruction, and the fact that she's never heard that emotion in his voice, ever, does not help her panic in the least. It only confirms just how severely terrible and dangerous this situation must be.
Even after the car rolls to a stop she remains in that position, as if believing that because Jon told her to get down that means that everything will be okay as long as she stays down. She only moves when Jon speaks to her, and the fact that his voice has regained his normal calmness does much to calm her, though that and him directly telling her to calm down mostly serves to silence her. At his other instructions, she unlatches her seat-belt and quickly fumbles open the glove compartment as she continues to keep her head down. For once her size works to her advantage, as she's able to do so without bringing any part of herself above the level of the dashboard or the bottom of the windows, making herself a rather difficult target should anyone try to shoot her and be at all accurate about it. Her hands are shaking, but the fact that she's in such a panicked rush at the same time means that her fumbling doesn't really slow her down very much as she loads the dart gun. At least she manages to do so without pricking herself on one of them.
No sooner is she finished than he's telling her to leave on his side. It's not that hard for her to scramble over to his side of the car with the dart gun carefully clutched in her hand - once again her size helps - and she'll certainly not object to the idea of staying very close to him. The only reason why she isn't clinging to him at this point is that she's aware that it would make it difficult for him to move. Instead she does the next best thing by following him as closely as she can as he steps out of the vehicle. She's as white as a sheet as she stands next to him, looking utterly terrified, but she trusts that Jon will get them out of this somehow.

There was an uncomfortable shift in a couple of the men when the Scarecrow got out of the car, an expected move according to the boss but it didn't make the thugs any more reassured to see the creepy mask and consider the possibilities. Oswald had carefully picked the men though, half of them saw the question as a challenge, the rest had only to think of Oswald's own threats to know who they should be more afraid of today. They weren't allowed to kill Jon but they could sure be killed themselves if they dared to screw this up or run away.
There's no such thoughts for Terry, thoughts are not his thing and he's having great fun tonight. Having positioned himself behind one of the men near the back of Jon's car he grins when the Scarecrow gets out, perfect excuse to shoot the guy! Too bad it's only with a taser. He smoothly pulls it from it's holster and fires at Jon "He said don't move Strawman!" he's almost laughing.
That snaps out the slight hesitation or any idea of waiting for orders, a couple of the men even laugh, making light of the situation and as a result reassuring others in the process as one goes to taser VerMillion as well, low threat or not they'd rather she were on the ground twitching amusingly.
Oswald's car remains quiet, with the windows down they can distantly hear shouting but it's the laughing that makes Oswald frown. A little professionalism would be nice but even Linsey and Mike in the car with him exchange a few words in Russian which basically amounts to Linsey losing a bet over Terry being the first one to shoot. Ten dollars is exchanged before Oswald loses his patience with the lot of them and grabs the radio, tapping into speakers on the men around Jon's car. Typically used for turning one man into a walking speaker to issue commands to the group it's not hard for Ozzy to just use them all at once, though he's careful not to include the men hidden by the building and those in his own car "Hello Dr. Crane. Did you really think you could hide from me, Jon?" it was a good time for gloating.

The Scarecrow had felt VerMillion slide out of the car after him and join him at his side. With this many people around them the dart gun she held would have only been useful for a few moments, but it may buy them some time if need be. Right now that was exactly what they needed, more time. He kept his palms raised slightly to the night air as if to welcome those around him to the nightmare they had just invited in. The mask gave him a sense of power in knowing that these men around him knew his reputation they knew what he was capable of and they would fear him.
His fingers had tensed and curled as the dust began to settle around them but something was still moving toward. He couldn’t see the dust kicking up in front of them that could have only meant one thing. His already pursed palms held to cradle the air moved quickly to the open door frame beside them. Applying pressure to the door he lifted himself up into the air. Mid-air his foot gave a calculated hit to VerMillion’s abdomen. It wasn’t as hard as it could have been but hopefully it would have been enough to knock her off her feet and back into the car. Just as he had swung into the air, the loud crack from the tazer was emitted into the air. The Scarecrow had swung himself over the car door and landed on the other side of it using it as a shield. This whole car was about to become a shield if he needed it to be.
A taunting voice had rose out from the now unsettled dust on the other side of the car. The Scarecrow kept himself on the other side of the door not worried in the slightest about the men behind him. The voice was familiar but muffled by the mask he wore. As the dust settled around him his image became clearer. There was no doubt from the way he carried himself, his brutish posture and the dialect of his voice that this was the man he had met in Mr. Cobblepot’s lounge. He couldn’t help but smile from within the darkness of his mask. He couldn’t take his eyes off the man, he wouldn’t, not even to look at VerMillion. To look at her would draw attention to her, and right now the attention needed to be on him.
“Ever faithful dog to its master…” His fingers curled over the frame of the door as he taunted loudly throughout the commotion. Of course he was once again at his beck and call all too happy to enact some misplaced emotion to retaliate against him. When it could all be explained by the fear of his masters hand. Pulling his fingers on the frame he adjusted his own posture behind the door not paying any attention to those behind him. It wouldn’t be difficult to deal with them if they got close, regardless he remained aware. He would jump all over and through this car until someone went down in flames. He wasn’t going without a fight, that they could be certain of.
The crack of the speaker that came from one of the vehicles suddenly dominated the situation. It caused his head to turn and try to determine where it was coming from. He had already determined that the Penguin had come for him, he had prepared for this night for a long time. Unfortunately he hadn’t prepared to be caught inside his vehicle, but plans often do change. The squawking voice of Mr. Cobblepot echoed over the area. He listened intently but had no intention of responding for more than one reason. To call him out here would be the sign of a weaker man, someone that was giving into his hidden taunts and threats. Instead of answering his taunt he stood his ground turning his attention back to the men around him. His outward demeanor remained calm, his features relaxed even as they held to the doorframe. It looked like Mr. Cobblepot didn’t have the courage to do it himself…however that would have been a very poor decision.

Heather's breathing is ragged as she stands next to Jon, eyes darting around rapidly as if trying to keep her eyes on everyone at once. There's so many of them... Her natural inclination to freeze up tries to kick in, but she manages to hold it back. Were she here alone she most certainly would be unable to do anything, but with Jon here to both help her and give her something more than herself to worry about, she forces herself to keep moving.
Though she's caught by surprise when Jon suddenly moves so quickly and kicks her in the stomach. Fortunately, they'd practiced pretty much that very thing, so she's able to absorb that blow better than she might have. It still hurts a lot, though when she finds herself knocked back into the car she realizes instantly why he did it. Though most of her mind isn't really functioning on the conscious level at the moment - she's acting much more on instinct.
And her instinct is telling her that while she's definitely safer in the car, she still can't consider herself to actually be safe. Nor can she make any assumptions about how long being in the car will be a good idea. So she immediately rolls onto her belly and then shifts her legs so that she's crouching on the floor of the car - as low as she can be and yet still be poised to move quickly if she has to. She has the dart gun clutched carefully in her hands, ready to aim and shoot it at the first sign that she needs to.
And yet, though she isn't aware of it, she's shaking like a leaf from the sheer amount of effort it takes for her to keep herself from freaking out. She simply can't afford to do that right now - what if Jon loses this fight because of her? She'd never forgive herself for that!
She hears someone talking over a loudspeaker, but though the voice has a ring of familiarity to it she can't place it immediately if only because she has too much else on her mind at the moment. Like breathing, for example; she has to keep breathing and watch carefully for any signs that she should be doing anything else.

His taser missing only served to make Terry a little angry as he popped the spent cartridge but kept hold of the weapon. He had a couple more cartridges and it could still be used in close range without one but not taking the time to reload gave him an excuse to use his actual gun. Just as before Terry really wanted to shoot the Scarecrow, he could do that without killing him.
The man who shot at Heather does reload though as Terry sneered at the dog comment and a man on the other side of the car tries to get Jon with a taser. Another waits for Jon to move first, thinking it might be easier to shoot him then. Three shots each, sixteen thugs around the car, four taser cartridges fired so far, as far as they were concerned they only needed one to hit the target and they'd get him, with forty four left they liked their odds.
It all happened very fast from there. As the first man fired his taser Oswald took himself off the speaker and squawked orders into his men's ears instead "Close in and get him, hurry up!" He was losing his patience and the thugs swarmed the car as a result. Getting up close and beating up guys was what most of them did best anyway, when they were just shooting them. Closing up Jon's move and using the tasers at close range instead as they tried to grab Jon and force him down, though Terry opted for trying to Shoot the Scarecrow in the leg again instead.
The first man to the front of the car quickly jumps up onto the hood and smashes what's left of the windshield with the aim to grab Heather and haul her out onto the hood.

The Scarecrow kept a close eye on his surroundings as his fingers continued to use the car door as cover. It was apparently that he couldn’t use it to cover his backside and therefore remained aware of the men behind him. They had certainly came prepared, gas masks, full body armor, and they had a full arsenal of weapons. From their behavior it seemed as if they weren’t going to use anything lethal. Penguin wanted his revenge to be carried out in another way. While keeping a close eye on the men around him his body shifted slightly away from the car door while still keeping it under his cover. The last thing he wanted to do was leave himself venerable to be pinned in between the door and the car.
His main focus remained on the most hostile of the men, this mindless animal that Penguin had sent to get him and to call him out. Through the darkness of his mask he took some satisfaction on the reaction that the dog had bled to him after his taunt. The man was far too easily shaken; it would be the end of him. “Your fear will be your end…” The distortion cracked from the mask jumbling his last word. “It will not be from I. The Penguin can put down his own dog.” The voice distortion rolled into a dispersed laugh. No, he wouldn’t toss this man into the sweet embrace of oblivion, but he would accept the chance to drag him to the edge of it.
His fingers felt movement from the frame of the door. VerMillion was moving inside. If she was moving that meant that she was alright or at least recovering from the blow she had taken. For now it was best if she stayed in the car and he did what he could to keep the focus on himself. It wasn’t very difficult as the men took their pause around him. It wouldn’t be very wise to take their eyes off The Scarecrow.
Things were going well for the moment considering everything that had happened. There would be no denying that the situation looked very bleak. The Scarecrow wasn’t a fool, he was intelligent and knew when he was in a bind that may mean he’d have to get out of it later than sooner. The way he had been attacked matched his intelligence…It was a good move Mr. Cobblepot. The man may have been able to trap him in this swarm of men but it didn’t change the type of man The Penguin was. He was obsessed with a false cause…paper…and that’s all it would ever be.
A familiar sound shot off through the air as he saw a man advance closer from the circle he stood in. Reflexively he leapt to the side, using part of the car for cover. It narrowly missed his shoulder and neck, he actually felt the strings for a moment. The man had fired a tazer. The realization hit him rather hard as psychology took its toll on the others. And he heard three more shots come in succession of one another. It would have only taken one shot for many others to nervously shoot off their own. Each tazer gun had two prongs that would shoot out for each one tazer. That was 6 chances to hit him immediately.
Luckily he avoided two rolling his body to the side just trying to avoid wherever they were coming from. Just as he thought he might have obtained a chance to slide over the car his body stiffened. The Scarecrows jaw locked from underneath the mask, he couldn’t utter a sound as every muscle in his body tensed. The next thing that came to his face was the dirt that covered the area around them. Dust went into his mouth as he fell but through the shock he was unable to spit it out let alone take a breath. A sharp pain hit came to his jaw through the electrifying feeling. His mask had taken a rough hit and was partially damaged.
Words came into the air but they couldn’t register in his mind, nothing could register except the intensity of the pressure around his body.

Watching what she can of the happenings through the open doorway of the car, Heather finally starts to get a sense of just what the odds are in this fight. While her impression of Jon's fighting ability is, if anything, overinflated, as the men close in around him she starts to see that there's enough of them to overwhelm him simply by sheer numbers. And when the tasers come out she feels her heart sink.
"Jon!" she hears herself calling out when she sees one of the tasers hit, though when the windshield of the car suddenly breaks she finds that she has an even more pressing problem than Jon's fate to attend to. Screaming in surprise, she instinctively makes a lunge for the safest possible spot in the car available to her - the floor in front of the driver's seat, where the steering column can hamper anyone trying to grab her from above. Narrowly avoiding the grasp of the man trying to get her from that direction, she feels the car shift slightly as he's forced to move in order to try reaching for her again.
For a moment she almost panics, feeling so surrounded on all sides. Though perhaps it's because she saw Jon going down that she's just able to hang on - he's unlikely to be able to save either of them, so if that's at all possible then it's up to her. And though if it had been only her that was in danger she might not have the drive to keep herself going, for Jon's sake she has to try something.
That's when her mind flashes to the dart gun in her hand. She remembers there were three darts, and there was more than one color, but in her haste to load it and the near panic of this moment she doesn't remember which ones they were. She opens it quickly and sees two yellow and a red, loaded so that they alternate. Red... brave toxin. She can never quite predict herself when she's on the drug, but she does know that when she's on it her total lack of fear makes options she couldn't see before come to mind. Perhaps one of them can get her out of this. Or perhaps she'll do something incredibly stupid. Either way, though, it's unlikely to make the situation any worse and has a chance of making it better. And if she's honest with herself, the fact that it would make her fearless in the face of even the worst outcome of this situation is extremely tempting.
Her musings on the matter are abruptly interrupted when the man on the hood of the car manages to reach in far enough to grab her arm, though his effort is impeded by the steering wheel. Heather quickly closes the dart gun again with her other hand, and then shifts it to fire point blank into his forearm. The man reflexively releases her arm simply due to the pain of the dart, but she knows that she'll probably not have to worry about him now. The first dart was fear toxin, so hopefully whatever the man's biggest fear is turns out to be useful to her.
But that means that the next dart is brave toxin, so she braces herself before shooting it into her leg. It's a good spot, though she still can't help but let out a quiet cry of pain - still not used to it. Okay, that should only take a moment to kick in. She turns her attention outward again, specifically more toward the doorway since she knows that further trouble is more likely to come from that direction. One dart left, and she can only hope that her braver side can figure out something awesome to do with it.

Several of the thugs take Jon's words to Terry to heart as a reminder of what Oswald promised to do to them if they screw up. Terry though is too cocky to care what Jon says in this case. Yeah, the boss has roughed him up a few times for over stepping the mark but he's never come to truly believe that the little guy means it. The comparison to a dog is quite accurate, only instead of getting whacked with a newspaper he gets broken bones and instead of treats he gets nights like this. He overestimates his importance and underestimates his boss's rage and one day it probably will get him killed but Terry can't see that coming.
Oswald smiled as he saw Jon fall and once more got on the radio to his men "Get him out and contained then get the girl and move onto phase two" he shoots a smug little smirk at Mike and Linsey as he gets out of his car at last "Time to join the party"
The men were quick to move when Jon fell, a couple held back, waiting to hit him again if he got back up but as two more move towards him Terry shoves one out the way and takes over himself, stamping a boot down to pin the doctor down before going to hit him in the head with the head with the butt of his gun. His aim is to knock Jon out for he must be unconscious during the plan at some point and he'd be less trouble if it's done right away. The other thug close to him moves to steal Crane's mask and toss the creepy thing away before he moves in with handcuffs.
Meanwhile, with Jon seemingly under control there's more thugs to focus on Heather. The one who'd been reaching through the windshield quickly recoils with a string of curses as he feels the dart hit and he quickly rips the thing out even if it doesn't do much good "She got me with a dart! That stupid little b- !" he doesn't have a chance to finish his words before the closest man to him whacks him in the back of the neck with a gun and quickly disarms him before handcuffing him to the bumper of the car and leaving him there. Losing a few men to fear toxin had been an accepted risk but the easiest way they could think to keep those men from endangering the mission (And themselves and others or whatever) was to knock out the infected and contain them until they could be dealt with afterwards.
The man was left to build his fears in his unconscious world and paid no attention to, their target was Heather. A quick hand signal from one of the men by the side of the car has another man climbing onto the hood noisily as one thug more stealthily crouches by the side of the car, waiting until another quickly pulls the drivers door open wide before stealthy thug shoots round and fires another taser into Heather's hidey hole.
Oswald watches the commotion from afar still, slowly closing the gap at a casual walk with Mike and Linsey flagging him as he speaks into the radio again "Start getting us access to the the building" there was no need to state which men he meant, they all knew the plan but a polite and untroubled "Yes, sir" responds through the radio as Mort and his younger accompanying thug finally move from hiding by the warehouse and begin to suss out the security.
Jon should be proud that he'd encouraged Oswald to bring his best just to bring him down a few pegs rather than just the usual rank and file thugs. Formerly a hitman with an expertise in sneaking in and setting up accidental deaths and mysterious disappearances Mort would probably have made a fine cat burglar if he hadn't considered stealing lives more of an interesting challenge to get away with. A very warped and grim man with hobbies in forensics and anatomy he made enemies of some former employers who only managed to put him out of the game rather than kill him before most fortunately Cobblepot discovered his knowledge valuable and his employers expendable.

The Scarecrow couldn’t do anything as the electricity jumped and moved his muscles. The nightmare lay as still as the tazer would allow on the ground. They had kept the charge going for some time as the bodies of men began to circle around him and close the distance. There would be no way he was coming out of this. He could only hope that VerMillion was able to find her own way. Through all of the commotion he was unable to hear anything she might have done already. The reality for him was that unless something happened to give him the advantage, this device would medically win every time.
His eyes were forcibly tightened shut without much he could do about it. The tensing of his muscle caused him to reflexively put himself in the dark. It wasn’t until he heard some commotion coming through the men that gathered around him that his eyes finally flew open. Whatever charge that had been on the tazer was lifted. In that instant he was able to thrust himself upward only to be met by a foot to his chest. His body was slammed hard back into the ground, knocking the wind out of him.
The Scarecrow continued to resist even though the pressure remained on his chest. His hands wrapped around Penguin’s dog’s leg and tried to jerk him down. Just as he did the but of a weapon struck him in the head. His vision blinked for a moment going completely white. The world around him faded in an instant but then slowly started to come around through a blurry tunnel.
He was caught clawing at the ground to resist unconsciousness as long as he could. As the god he believed himself to be one of the worst things he could allow to happen was let his consciousness slip from him. He needed his mind to think, he needed his mind to function. There was more than one reason that he wanted to avoid slipping into the depths of unconsciousness, it was the main reason he avoided sleep. With that thought boring into the forefront of his mind he fought the feeling that was trying to sweep over him. His nails dug into the ground one last time before darkness fell over him.

It doesn't take long for the brave toxin to take effect, especially since the dose in the dart was probably meant to be enough for even a large person, and Heather is quite petite - easily less than half the weight of some of Ozzy's bigger thugs. Though her first thought after it kicks in, is that her toxin-less self is an idiot. Why is she here under the steering wheel where she can't move very easily? Sure, it limits the number of angles she can get attacked from, but she's also trapped herself by going in here.
When she'd shot herself with the dart, she'd been hoping that it would clear her head and allow her to see a way out of this. Instead, it's cleared her head and allowed her to see that there's no way out of this. But that's okay - while Jon had realized pretty quickly that the people attacking them didn't mean to kill them, she hadn't really noticed the signs of that. Yet now that fear is foreign to her, the fact that tasers mean that they're not wanting to kill them - or at least not immediately - is rather obvious.
Still, her hand grips the dart gun. If they're going to take her, even alive, she intends to go down as unwillingly as possible. And as terrible as a spot this is to be in if she's trying to get away, it's a decent spot for her to fight back from given that she only has one dart left now. She's a terrible shot, after all, but it will be near impossible for anyone to sneak up behind her or attack from any great distance. And she intends to get this dart into someone if she possibly can.
Hearing someone on the hood, she doesn't really pay that much attention. For all she knows it's the same guy she just darted enacting his fears - she didn't see what his fate was after he pulled back his hand. Whatever is going on up there doesn't matter to her unless it appears in that narrow bit of the car she can see. So she hardly misses seeing the driver's side door flung open as they intended, and her dart gun is ready.
Unfortunately, she's proved right about the main drawback of this spot - the lack of mobility - when she sees a hand holding a taser pointed at her. She quickly fires her dart gun at it, hoping to hit the arm of the man holding the taser, but it all happens so fast that she'll later be unable to remember whether she got hit by the prongs of the taser before or after she fired the dart gun. And she'll also be unable to be sure if her dart ever hit anyone, as only an instant after getting hit by the taser, she suddenly feels her entire body go rigid. She's never been hit by a taser before, and she can't say that she particularly enjoys the experience.

Terry nearly loses his balance thanks to Jon's move, he gets in the hit with his gun but has to knock over one of the others to keep himself from ending up on the ground. A little snarl and he goes to kick Jon in the ribs, not caring that he's already unconscious. One of the others deals with the handcuffs as Terry takes the moment to shoot a grin at his approaching boss, one could practically imagine a wagging tail on the faithful dog "All ready for ya boss"
Oswald looks very happy with himself and pauses on the way to stoop and pick up Jon's mask from where his thugs had thrown it. One for the collection. He smirked down at the still form of the Scarecrow and completely ignored the commotion still going on with Heather, only Mike pealed off to help out.
The man with the taser on Heather withdrew a little, also cursing at the dart but hoping to avoid getting knocked out as well "It's fine! It hit the armour" The thug who opened the door seems satisfied and moved in to grab Heather so he could haul her out of the car and onto the ground. The newly drugged thug, for drugged he was, stepped back and tried to calm his nerves but backed into something, swinging round to see what it was he came face to face with Mike and flinched "S-sir, we've...erm" Mike staring at him didn't help and it was a very long, intense stare before the big Russian grabbed the thug's head and rammed it into the roof of the car, leaving a nice dent and one unconscious thug. Mike stepped over the guy and turned his attention onto Heather and as the other thug struggled to keep hold and pull her around he just went for her neck, going to grab it and squeeze tight "Time to sleep little tictac" he whispered in his big thick accent.
Oswald aimed a prod at Jon with his umbrella before gesturing Linsey forward "He's out, get on with it" His words were purposely vague, his men knew what they were supposed to do but he didn't want anyone else to, if there indeed was anyone to listen in.
Linsey knelt beside Jon and settled a briefcase on the ground as Terry once more put a foot on the guy just in case. Within the case Linsey had several substances including two syringes which looked very much like fear toxin. She chose the sedative this time though, a small dose, they just wanted Jon compliant enough to get set up, the stimulant in the case would ensure he wouldn't be out much longer than that. Next though she took what looked very much like a dart gun and inserted a small microchip in it. Jon wouldn't be getting lost again in a hurry. Pulling up the back of his shirt she found a point between his ribs and inserted the tracking device before checking a small receiver for a signal "It's working. Conceal it" she says with a nod to Terry. Terry gets another huge grin before he punches Jon in the back just to hide any trace of the dart going in under what will no doubt end up one of many bruises. Linsey double checks the punch doesn't effect the signal and finally nods to Oswald and offers the receiver "It's done"
Oswald pocketed the receiver and radioed over to the building again where Mort seemed to be patiently waiting for them to get finished "Well? Are we in?" the response came instantaneously "It appears to be a simple thumb reader sir, I see no secondary device" Oswald shook his head down at Jon "Tut, tut, tut. You really do underestimate me, I'm almost disappointed" he nodded to Terry "Take him over and get the door open" and Terry happily grabbed Jon and hauled his unconscious lump off to the door, without a care for dragging Jon through the dirt in the process or that Mort decided to patrol the area at a safe distance and that everyone with sense was patiently waiting to make sure the building didn't explode from some trap the moment they tried the door.
When, after Terry awkwardly held Jon up to the thumb scanner for a few seconds, the door opened up without incident Oswald sent the men in to scout out the building and waited for the all clear before entering himself. They'd found the room he wanted. He was sure Jon would have set up somewhere to contain the people he caught and he wasn't disappointed when he entered the containment room and saw a couple of the thugs strapping Jon onto the slab. Oswald dismissed them to continue searching the building where the sounds of the others could be heard literally pulling up the floorboards to check for hidden items as they boxed up everything they could find.
Oswald finally nodded to Linsey and she was careful to put down the brief case where Jon would not see inside once it was opened or he would probably obsess over the fear toxin within. It was just her, Oswald and Terry in the room as she applied the stimulant to wake Jon up again. Mike and Mort could handle the rest of the operation perfectly well.
